Fair, balanced look at the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints through the story of their first prophet. It shares some of the stories church members aren’t taught at church or in their seminary classes. Grateful that Van Sciver shared this part of his faith journey and processing what he believes with us. In interviews he says he wrote this book so he could become the characters, feel what they felt, and through that decide if he believed the Church was true. I am going through my own faith journey and trying to decide where I belong. This book helped me a bit to feel and see what those early church members experienced and what led them to do what they did.

Something that lots of people don’t know about me is that I like to collect pins. I like them because there are lots of places you can get them, they are on the cheaper side when it comes to souvenirs and they don’t take up much space. What’s something you like to collect?
