Rimmer finds this box full of them in Lister's locker and pretends to be annoyed but is crying with happiness inside.

sometimes ill be having a good day and then i remember that rimmer said hed get rid of everything hes ever earnt if it meant being genuinely cared about by someone and then demonstrates this twice in separate episodes and then im not having a good day anymore

see the thing about rimster is it's incredibly diverse as a ship dynamic. it's got the dave era's sweet, old married couple rimster who bicker but there's no vemon left in their words. and then there's early seasons/pre-canon rimster where it's violent and unhealthy and beautiful and disgustingly codependent. and if neither of that's your style there's the season 7 rimmer-as-ace tragic yearning rimster era. and there's even MORE beyond that when it comes to all the alternate universes. even individual episodes have their own dynamics to them. it's truly gotta be one of the reasons why rimster is so so high up on my favourite ships of all time list.

Rimmer marrying Lister so he can claim earth citizenship. At least that's what they tell Kryten.

Now I'm not saying every quarrel Rimmer has with his alternate selves can be resolved by shagging Lister at the same time and being very competitive about it, but I think it's always worth a try
