Depression is where you’re sitting on your couch staring into nothing because you can’t pay attention long enough to watch tv.

Depression is where you’re significant other asks if you’re ok and all you can do is look at them with silent tears in your eyes and shake your head.

Depression is where you sleep for 10 hours, wake up the next day, and you sleep for ten more hours because you just don’t want to get up.

Depression is where one snapped word, one unanswered text, makes you scared your relationship is falling apart.

Depression is where you have friends and family who love you but you feel so alone.

Depression is where you feel hopeless and worthless and like nothing you do matters at all.

Depression is where you lay awake for hours staring at the ceiling because your thoughts won’t leave you alone and that emptiness in your chest is crushing you.

Depression is where there is this crushing emptiness in your chest that doesn’t go away, it’s there when you fall asleep, it’s there when you wake up.

Depression is where you sometimes turn to drugs and alcohol so maybe, just maybe, that emptiness will go away for a little while.

Depression is where you go through your day, go to school, go to work, see friends, see family, you smile and you laugh, but that emptiness is still there and no one else can see it.
