The Cure- Play For Today (Seventeen Seconds)
The Cure was just getting into their darker phase with Seventeen Seconds, and it's plain to see the influence their music would have on future generations. The lyrics of "Play For Today" don't start until about a minute in; it's all moody and brooding up until that point. This is my favorite track on Seconds, and probably for no particular reason. For some of the most emotionally stimulating bands, what they were singing pained them; The Cure, however, was singular in that it always seemed to be what Robert Smith wouldn't say that hurt the worst. The silence was more painful than the prose

Motion City Soundtrack - Worker Bee
I tried and tried, but I have to concede: Adele is pretty fucking great.
The Fratellis - Look Out Sunshine!
I'm starting to get into Adam Ant.
But you would call this Dandy Rap.
Eulogy
The Academy Is... just broke up and I'm devastated. Each album they have put out has been a fair summary of what all of Alternative music has to offer; the very best lay with them. I've never been the sort to be bitter about a great band's breakup, but I'm always disheartened about it. But a band is a business and a relationship; sometimes it just won't last forever. We can't all be the Rolling Stones, but TAI has left a mark on the Alternative community that won't soon be forgotten.

The Legend of Zelda: What Am I Doing With My Life?
This is not a post about music.
I bought a Nintendo Wii about a week ago and picked up The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The game is solid, but it sparked my interest back up in Zelda as a whole. So I bought the Virtual Console Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.
    Now I can't stop.
I took a break from Twilight Princess in the Twilight Realm, meaning there is little left to the game aside from going back and finishing up side quests. I took this break in order to play OoT, reliving the thrill of being swallowed by whale-like creatures and trying to understand the time paradox involving the Song of Storms. Started yesterday, I'm now at the Water Temple with the Biggoron Sword and fifty some Sulltulas (which are a BITCH).
My plan is to play and beat (to 100% completion [which will make Windwaker the crowning achievement of my lifetime]) all of the Zelda games I can get my hands on. I'm getting an SD card to get the original and A Link To The Past, I've borrowed Windwaker from a friend, another friend got a 3DS and is going to get the free Four Swords download (he goddamn better) and Awakening DX. So I have to find the Gamecube Four Swords adventures and a few of the DS games (which I'll probably run through since they're mobile). Otherwise, I'm going to try and find the Oracle games (praying to Play N Trade).
Summarily: my life is consumed, the ultimate goal is to finish these tasks by the release of Skyward Sword, kick the shit out of Skyward Sword, then get a Zelda tattoo (no, it won't be the Triforce and bird emblem). I should be writing essays for College (nope), working on music, it being my college major (nada), or spending time with family and friends (ain't happening), but instead, I'm killing Ganon ten different ways.
God Damn you Nintendo, God Damn you Miyamoto and Tezuka, and God Bless you Ganondorf; you'll need all the blessings you can get.

A friend of mine showed this to me about a year ago. You know you've produced a great track when a shit ton of bands cover it; but you know you've produced a superb track when a folky, ten-man-band playing ukeleles and cajons covers your song. Grats MGMT- now put out another fucking album.
