When togame says "ume/plum flowers blossom in the winter", they blossom earlier than most flowers and lead winter into spring referencing how Umemiya brought about a revolution in Furin. He actively fought against "winter" in the story. This lead to a unified Furin and formation of Bofurin.

The town is at peace, "spring" in the story. This is when the sakura flowers bloom. This is where Sakura steps up, his role to carry on Ume's legacy and ensure the town stays peaceful, the people feel protected. He needs to ensure Furin High stays united.

I just think it's beautiful that a guy who struggled with acceptance from people around him, was isolated and possibly even abused, has to ultimately learn how to build and keep a community together. He has already done it to some extent in the Noroshi arc.
