Shadow and Bone, by Leigh Bardugo

Okay, legit, the more I think about this book, the more I fall in love with it. If that's even possible, which it might now be because I am in love with this book and this series and the Dar-

We'll get to that.

Whenever I go to try and describe this book, the first thing that comes to mind is how creative it is. It's so original, completely unlike anything I've ever read before! I know all books (well, most) aim to create this whole new world for the reader and take us on a journey and all that, but this one...this one actually did it. 

In the words of Aladdin, this really is a whole new world...

...And I just want to be apart of it liiiiiike

Not only did Bardugo do a wonderful job of creating Ravka and that whole region (studies map in the front of the the book, just like Alina would!!), she did a great job with characterization. From Aline to Mal to the Darkling to Genya, everyone is so so different from one another, they all have their own feel and their own sass and, trust me, they all have sass. Especially Alina and the Darkling.

And the Darkling...

Okay. Now, like, seriously. I can't put into words how much I love him. I just find him so interesting. I want to know more about him (anD THAT DREAM WILL COME TRUE WITH THE DARKLING STORY IN RUIN AND RISINg go nuts). I'm biased though. He's my favorite character, by far. Like, by far. I don't know if that's a bad thing, or unhealthy, but I just really really like him.

Note: my mom calls him a brat.

Anyway, this book is fantastic and wonderful and SO UNIQUE. I love it! I loved every second of it! So good!!

The Forever Song, by Julie Kagawa

I just… I need a moment. To gather myself. Because this book absolutely, positively, tore my heart out and then ripped it to shreds. Then it put it back together, stitched it all up, and then did it again.

But the ending! Ugh. This series, I swear, is the best ever. It will always be my favorite forever(song)  (getit?) (badumching) I was looking forward to Forever Song, but I wasn’t looking forward to it being officially over. However, the ending was so great that I have no room to complain.

But I do have room to cry. I have a lot of room to cry. If you’ve read it, you should know exactly what part I’m talking about. If you haven’t, then we’ll all keep it hush-hush until you do.

The Eternity Cure made me cry, yes. Of course it did. I was very open about that. But The Forever Song? I wept. Twice. Sobbed, bawled my eyes out, it was bad and weird and unattractive but it happened so I’ll own up to it. I ain’t too proud to say it.

Comment your thoughts all you want, say whatever, I want to talk about this book and this series and these characters and everything, but caN WE SPECIFICALLY TALK ABOUT JACKAL AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT BECAUSE DOGGONE IT. All of the characters have grown so, so much since book one, but Jackal… He’s definitely grown the most. And I’m not just saying that because he’s my favorite, it’s a legit thing, I swear! I just love him so much. Like, no words. I am starting a fanclub, I definitely am, and all the members will get fuzzy dice and a snarky comment. (note: the fuzzy dice is a big lie, but the snarky comment is not!) (side note: would that be something people would want to be a part of, a fanclub for him?)

I could go on and on and on forever(song) (there I go again) about this book, but I’m gonna stop myself now before I start crying again. I’m such an emotional wreck over this book, my mom had to give me the they’re fictional talk.

Well, they may be fictional, but they are perfect, SOOO….

For those of you who haven’t read it: DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND READ IT.

The Eternity Cure, by Julie Kagawa

Dare I say, this book was even better than the first one. I dare say it!

If your intention was to shoot an arrow through my heart...bullseye! (yo, yo, Producers reference) But seriously. Seriously! Not okay! Not. Okay. And if you've read it, you know what I mean.

It's. Just. So. Sad.

If you haven't read it though, don't worry, I won't give anything away!

This is seriously one of the best books I have ever read, ever. It is so good. The action, the characters, the everything. Ugh! It's perfect! And I'm not even slightly exaggerating. Like, at all. It is absolutely perfect.

I loved the first one, The Immortal Rules, but I think I liked this one even more. Probably because there's more Jackal. And when there's more Jackal, I'm a happy camper. The ending, however, makes me a very sad camper. A sad, bawling camper.

Sarren. Sarren. Like, no. You, sir, are a horrible person. And Stick? DON'T. GET. ME. STARTED. I don't know if I've ever hated a character with as much intensity as I do Stick. And Sarren, yeah, but Stick... Such a waste of space.

(And no, those aren't spoilers or anything because we've all shared that sentiment since book one, amiright?)

But Allie, Zeke, Kanin, Jackal... Bless. They are wonderful and perfect and I love them dearly. Dearly.
