Next up someone is going to claim that the Narnia series isn't kids books.
Kids books is probably not the best way to word it, you can enjoy them at every age, including your childhood, as you get older you may find new truths in them, but they're still good for any age.
I want you to understand this. I NEED you to understand this. My mother read me the hobbit as bedtime story, and I started pushing myself to read before pre-school so I could in fact read the hobbit for myself instead of having to wait for bedtime.
I didn't do so right away but jesus wept I PUSHED myself to learn to read SPECIFICALLY so I could read The Hobbit! It is, in fact, a children's story! And children only see page count as 'there is a lot of this fun story to read!'
You can't catch this animal.

ive never been able to take "climb him like a tree" as a sexual innuendo seriously because i picture climbing a tree in my mind and then i picture a tall man in my mind and when i put those two things together im not seeing anything sexual. im seeing like. circus tricks.

having the Aviation Accident Investigations Autism™️ has actually done wonders for the way I process and respond to my own fuck-ups
And I don't just mean "oh, my little work mistake is actually nothing compared to a fiery crash that kills people," either. The reason commercial flight is so many orders of magnitude safer than any other form of transportation is because after every accident and incident, an independent regulatory body investigated it with the express goal of figuring out exactly what happened, why, and how to prevent the same thing from ever happening again—not to root out which person deserved the blame or the liability.
It's a simple, shockingly effective idea. It's also worlds away from how most people approach their own mistakes and the mistakes of others.
Because it’s never just one person’s fault. And even when it is, it still isn’t.
The sharpest, best-trained pilots make worse decisions when they're tired or sick or stressed out, so there's two of them. The most dedicated and experienced air traffic controllers garble an instruction over the radio sometimes, so pilots are trained to always repeat clearances back to catch misunderstandings quickly. The best and brightest maintenance mechanic still overlooks a screw or misconnects a wire once or twice in her career, so aircraft systems are built with two or three or four layers of redundancy, and pilots are exhaustively trained to deal with failures safely.
Everyone eventually has a bad day. Every component breaks down. Every computer gets a bad a Windows update and spirals into a reboot doom loop. If it’s possible for one person’s mistake to domino into a mushroom cloud of a fuckup, then that task is too critical to be one person's sole responsibility. The accident sequence starts with the design of the system—so how do you improve the system to keep it from happening again?
oh yeah. The “modern commercial aviation is the safest form of transport” thing only applies to planes, btw. A helicopter is a beautiful metal horse that wants to break its legs and die so so so badly
Ice beam is low-key a sauceless "standard" move for its type
Earthquake? That is THE ground move. The ground quakes beneath you.
Surf? A giant wave of water that your pokemon can ride. A thunderous tide. Invokes the ocean.
Thunderbolt? Arcing flashes of electricity zap you.
Flamethrower? Fire breath, fire throwing, an arc of propelled flame is classic.
Ice beam? It's a beam. Of ice. Could've been a gust of frigid wind, or a frost incursion, or being entombed in a glacial slab, but noooooo it's a beam. Of ice.
yes but it goes foowaaaa ting ting ting ting ting ting and i really like that part
Fuck you're right post cancelled
I was plunging a toilet, and when I flushed it after, a mist of poo exploded out and all over everything.
I wiped my glasses when I woke up
breaking news. POPEYE the SAILOR has forgotten to hold back, and KILLED bluto with a single wicked strike
garfield theist: garfield exists; he ate this lasagna.
garfield atheist: garfield does not exist; a human ate this lasagna.
reddit garfield atheist: garfield was made up so that humans could get away with stealing lasagna.
garfield agnostic: we cannot know if garfield exists or not.
garfield gnostic: only an imperfect or malevolent feline would have eaten this lasagna.
garfield deist: we can logically determine that garfield exists, but he did not eat this lasagna.
garfield monotheist: garfield is the only divine feline.
garfield polytheist: there are many divine cats, garfield among them.
garfield henotheist: there could be many divine cats, but garfield is the supreme one we should worship.
garfield evangelist: we ought to spread the word of garfield to everyone.
garfield apocalypticist: garfield will soon arrive to consume all lasagna.
garfield messianist: in the future, garfield will arrive to save humans and lasagna.
garfield panentheist: garfield is universal, and his spirit is in all things.
garfield egotist: i'm better than garfield.

being an effective educator is about yes-anding people so you can find unique connections between your material and their interests
got a wickeddd craving for a specific brand of veggie nuggets, bc i'm not vegetarian but my brother is and i'd always steal a couple veggie nugs whenever he cooked any, but i finally remembered to find some at the store and omg $5 for 12 nugs (before tax!) feels like highway robbery by frozen food standards... that's like only 2 nugs a buck... i feel like i owe my brother financial compensation for how many of those i've eaten
(guy who has has never had to buy veggie nuggets voice) hey bro can i have some of your veggie nuggets
