people truly get so phenomenally pissed off about others tagging their art with character names or not realizing that something was a Deeply Personal Vent Piece and like. while I get how frustrating that is I do feel that if you can't take the thought of someone not getting your work (and see it as an intentional personal slight against you, The Artist) then you simply should not be attempting to share it with an audience of thousands of people who have literally zero context beyond briefly seeing a picture on their dash

btw, it is widely acknowledged that this episode and particularly this scene is what spawned the first housewife trekkie fans and spock/kirk shippers as we know them, which in turn shaped fandom culture as a whole for generations to come. no, seriously, modern fandom culture and art including fanfiction as we know it today only exists because of the creative efforts of 1960s/70s housewives and a whole lot of the inspiration behind that passionate collective effort came from the homoerotic spock/kirk shippers, most of whom experienced their awakening with this exact episode. truly a historical moment.

I'm not gonna say anything new and other ppl have said it better already but god I'm tired of Tropes. Not like "this is what makes the story a part of a certain genre" type tropes, but the stuff that fandom insists on plastering over every single story whether it fits or not. There has to be two hot white(-looking) guys and they have to kiss, one of them is gonna be drawn darker and broodier and always the top, and the other one will be blonde and dainty and always blushing and stuttering and there was only one bed spaceship. It strips the story of everything that makes it unique. Where are the themes where are the personalities where are the vibes. Why is it all the same. Why is it somehow gay AND homophobic. Why do you have to make it racist too
