Moving Forward Mini Spell Jar
or as I like to call it: âGet-over-it-alreadyâ Mini Spell Jar Still having random pain after a recent break up, so I created this super simple mini spell jar to carry with me and squeeze whenever I have silly thoughts. :) Can be used to help get over things - the intent is to clear mind and move forward! Ingredients: đMoss: for growth đFallen birch leaf, crushed: for moving on/letting go & renewal đClear quartz chip: to enhance Charged in the sunrise of a new day đ
Iâm both pro herbal medicine and pro vaccination because you can treat burns with aloe vera juice and sore throats with lavender infused honey but you canât rid a country of polio with plants.Â
Donât forget kids, jewelweed is a natural counteragent to poison ivy rashes but it wonât do shit against whooping cough
Mint for nausea, valerian and chamomile for sleep, antibiotics for fucking infections.
Iâm in love with this post

đŻïžđżÂ banishing spell to break someoneâs hold over you đżđŻïž
Iâm in a time of transition right now, and as Iâm going through all of these big changes, I realized that I was being held back by certain unresolved relationships in my past. I designed this spell as a way of letting go of those people and freeing myself of their influences, so that I can move forward without all this emotional baggage.Â
What You Will Need:
a small black candle (used for banishing negative influences)
a piece of paper with the name of the person or thing you want to let go of written on it
sage (for cleansing and purification)
an obsidian stone (associated with psychic cleansing, protection, grounding, and personal transformation) (side note: this is also one of my favorite stones to meditate with!)Â
Optional Components:Â
fresh or dried basil (wards off negativity, promotes love and happiness, and is associated with peace in many cultures)
a selenite crystal (an extremely powerful cleansing stone, especially for cleansing emotional energies)
a rose quartz crystal (associated with forgiveness, healing, and compassion) (if you donât have rose quartz, I would recommend using a pink spell candle to bring the energy of compassion and forgiveness into the spell.)
I had two different people I wanted to let go of, so I had two black candles and two pieces of paper. Ordinarily, you should just need one of everything.
Note: This ritual involves setting objects on fire. For this reason, I recommend performing it outside.
Casting the Spell:
Begin by getting yourself into the right mood for magic. Maybe meditate for a few minutes, put on some instrumental music, burn your favorite incense, etc.Â
Take a moment to ground and center yourself.Â
Cleanse your space. You can do this by lighting your sage and wafting its smoke around yourself, your tools, and your general area. Close your eyes, inhale the smoke, and feel yourself being cleansed and blessed.Â
Light your black candle. As you do so, begin thinking about the person or thing you want to let go of, of the effect they have had on your life, and of the reason(s) you need to be free of their influence.
Take the piece of paper with the person or thingâs name written on it, and hold it over the candle flame. PLEASE BE CAREFUL NOT TO BURN YOURSELF. Hold the paper over the flame only long enough for it to light, and then set it down on the ground. It should continue to burn.
As you watch the paper burn, recite the following incantation: â[Name]âs hold over me is broken. He/she/they/it has no power over me. I am free of his/her/their/its influence.âÂ
Repeat this incantation as many times as feels right to you. If you follow my blog, you know that I like to work with the number nine in my magic, so I repeated it nine times.
Allow yourself to feel all of the pain and frustration that this person or thing has caused in your life. Acknowledge these feelings â they are a normal and valid part of our emotional healing process, but they are no longer serving you. You have passed the phase in healing where they are useful. Focus on these feelings for a moment, and then let them go. Feel them being carried away from you, leaving you free of their weight.
If you chose to include basil, use the candleâs flame to light it. Watch the smoke rise and smell its sweet aroma. Feel peace and happiness flowing into you to replace all the pain youâve just let go of. (Again, be careful not to burn yourself!)
Once you feel at peace, blow out your black candle to end the ritual. I find that with banishings and other âletting goâ or âgetting rid ofâ spells, itâs best not to prolong the spell any longer than necessary. Do what you need to do, and then end the ritual. Donât give these negative influences any more or your time and attention than you absolutely have to.
Light your sage again, and do one final cleansing of yourself and your space. This will make sure that you are cleared of any lingering negativity, and I feel like it kind of just puts a âfinal sealâ on the powerful cleansing youâve just done.Â
This spell is all about your healing and personal growth. Itâs not about removing the other person from your life, or wishing any harm on them â it is simply a way of cutting the ties that allow them to control you. Because of this, I find that this spell works best after the person or thing you want to let go of is no longer a part of your life, and after youâve had some time to process your emotions and allow yourself to grieve. Pain has its place, and sometimes we need to allow ourselves to feel it instead of trying to get rid of it immediately.Â

get the fuck away from me spell
this is a basic and powerful banishment spell to keep a toxic, malicious person from influencing you, affecting your world, and attempting to hurt you. best done during a waning moon. you will need:
> black pepper (banishment, protection from evil)
> cloves (banishing hostile and negative forces)
> vinegar (banishing, binding, and averting evil)
> black and white candle
> paper and pen with black ink
> a jar with a lid
1. as you light your candles, recognize that the flame creates an aura of fire, will and strength. the black candle burns and summons protection from evil; the white candle burns and brings you cleansing and purifying. meditate on the flames and allow their warm auras to surround you.
2. write the personâs full name (if itâs known) on a small piece of paper. hold the paper in your hands and let yourself feel angry, hurt, sad, or whatever this person makes you feel. charge the paper with the pain this person has caused you, until you feel done. then, take your pen and scribble out the personâs name until itâs completely blacked out and opaque.
3. fold the paper up as many times as you can, and throw it in the jar. sprinkle the pepper and cloves over the paper, then fill the jar with vinegar. this mixture banishes their evil from you and drowns out their will and power to harm you. close the jar tightly. if you wish, use some black wax from your candle to drip onto the lid and seal the jar shut.
4. place your banishment jar in a dark, hidden place, like the bottom drawer of a dresser or the corner of a closet. keep it forever, or until you feel its purpose is fulfilled.

Tarot Quick Tip- Minor Arcana
Everyone has a different style of reading but this is the way I learned to read quickly and with confidence (very good tip if youâre thinking of âgoing proâ)
If you have a deck with suits (like RW), an easy way to quick read is to jump right into what each suit means.
Cheat sheet to the minor arcana:
PENTACLE- the physical (work, ambition, things we put effort towards)
CUPS- emotional relationships (the emotional ties we have to this world like family and friends. Does not necessarily mean the cups mean the actual people, they can mean how you handle those relationships or even represent a fear that you wonât find a certain relationship)
WANDS - emotional (personal emotions, different from cups because this deals more with the emotions you feel as a person which may or may not have anything to do with anyone).
SWORDS- force (good or bad. Force is good if you have to fight hard for a goal, but it can also be a suit of oppression. Force used against you and used by you. Using force can also be negative)
After memorizing the different suit meanings, you can simply jump right into the symbols that speak to you (this method is great if you are highly if you are an intuitive thinker) This way of learning by suit helped me personally read my symbols more efficiently.
Remember the important part is that it makes sense to you and helps you read easier. If you find a different style works better for you, or you wish to work with different definitions, that can also work just fine.

Heathen Music Recommendations
One of my favourite things about the Norse pagan community is the amazing music and art we create. Growing up around musicians and being involved in my local punk scene, music is a huge part of my life, and I incorporate it into my religious practices in as many ways as I can. When I first started following Norse paganism some six years ago my first goal was to find as much related music as I could.Â
I want to cover as many different genres here as I can, cause everyoneâs got their own preferences, and I know not everyone out there is gonna dig the viking/death metal.
So, for any people new to Norse paganism, baby witches, or just people that are interested in some damn good music, I hope this helps you out!
Osi And The Jupiter - Folk group from Kent, Ohio. Osi And The Jupiter is different from most other norse pagan groups in the best way. Their music has a Appalachian element that melds beautifully with the natural and pagan themes that make up their discography. If youâre a fan of folk rock I reckon youâll dig their song These Ancient Bones. Also to any devotees of Ăðinn out there, the song Swamp Hymns will be right up your alley. For classical/instrumental fans, the song Baldur has some beautiful strings. (see bottom photo)
GealdĂœr - Ambient/Folk artist, very peaceful music, lots of deity centric songs, my two favourites being Loki and Baldr. I would recommend the song Yggdrasil to anyone whoâs looking for steady repetitive prayer like music.
Wardruna - I had tickets to see these guys last year! Covid-19 postponed the concert but Iâm so stoked to eventually see them. Wardrunaâs music is probably best described as Nordic folk music, ambient, or folk metal. The projectâs frontman is Einar Selvik, former drummer for the band Gorgoroth, and alongside him is Gorgorothâs ex vocalist Gaahl, and singer Lindy Fay Hella (and many others). Helvegen (The Way to Hel) is one of their most well known and popular songs alongside Solringen and Kvitravn. For me, Wardruna is a staple, their songs have incredibly powerful lyrics and vocals, and most with a steady beat that I find helpful for meditations. Their album Skald is one of my favourites alongside Runaljod-Yggdrasil, offering acoustic versions to a number of their songs. Vindavla (Skald) is a profoundly powerful three part song that Iâd consider a wonderful example of galdr.
Einar Kvitrafn Selvik - Einar Selvik is hands down one of my favourite musicians, incredibly talented and an amazing voice. Outside of his work with Wardruna heâs released his own music, ranging from projects alongside Ivar BjĂžrnson (Their album SkuggsjĂĄ is incredible, the song Kvervandi features some great guitar), his own single Snake Pit Poetry, and compositions for Assassinâs Creed Valhalla. Get ready to see this guy involved in lots of musical groups, and frequently featured in songs.Â
EivĂžr - You really canât box EivĂžr into a single genre, her music branches out through folk, rock, hip hop, jazz, and pop. A lot of songs are Faroese ballads, probably the most well known being TrĂžllabundin. She has an incredibly distinct, beautiful voice, and for any lovers of pop music, the song Stirdur Saknur (featuring the man the myth the legend Einar Selvik) and any other songs off of her album Segl are definitely for you.
HindarfjĂ€ll - Swedish folk group, they just released a new album! I havenât gotten the chance to listen to it all the way through yet but I really enjoyed the two singles that theyâve released. Give the song Alvatid a listen! It has some of the best harmonies Iâve heard.Â
Heilung - Heilungâs music has been a literal godsend, I use so many of their songs in my work as a heathen. They fall along the lines of experimental folk/folk metal, their songs range from aggressive chants to clamer meditations, and killer combinations of both. Heilung is for the shaman, for the berserker, the poet, and the witch. Their music is invigorating and empowering, itâs impossible to miss the amount of soul they put into their work. Lyrics are mostly Old Norse, Old English, and Old High German (sometimes a sick mix of two), and can be traced back directly to primary iron age sources. If youâre interested in the runes, the song In Maidjan has an excellent nine stanza Elder Futhark chant. (bottom photo credit to Ryan Muir)
Danheim - If youâre looking for Norse techno/ambient music then look no further my friend. Danheim has a dark sound and a strong beat, and uses a lot of traditional instruments while incorporating electronica.Â
Forndom - If you dig Danheim, Forndom will be another group to take a listen to. Dark ambient themes are the speciality here. The song Nio NĂ€tters Led is a slow paced song with a mysterious sound to it, this is another great song for meditation.Â
Faun - Faun is a German darkwave pagan folk group that uses a wide variety of instruments and languages in their songs. Their selection of instruments is very holistic, including but not limited to Swedish nyckelharpa, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, flutes, and celtic harp. With a strong emphasis on vocals, you can find songs with elements of German, English, Greek, Latin, and most Scandinavian languages. Walpurgisnacht has all the elements of a great folk song, accompanied by a pretty rad music video, perfect festival/celebration music. And another for the Ăðinn devotees, the song Odin (featuring, you guessed it, Einar Selvik)
Wolcensmen - Dark Folk/Neo Folk, Medieval Folk. Most of their music verges more on the Old English side of things but songs like Sunne, Lorn and Loath, and Foreboden and Gainsaying are not lacking Norse themes or values.
The Sword - Heavy metal band from Austin Texas, lots of songs with strong Norse themes. A few Freyja/Goddess centric songs including Freya and Cloak of Feathers. Their album Age Of Winters rocks and the album art is beautiful. (highly recommend the song Iron Swan off that same album)
SkĂĄlmöld - Viking metal/folk metal band from ReykjavĂk, Iceland. Their album VögguvĂsur Yggdrasils, goes through all of the nine realms of Norse cosmology, and a number of other song lyrics take directly after traditional Norse poetic meters such as and slĂ©ttubönd and fornyrðislag. All the band members are a part of ĂsatrĂșarfĂ©lagið, Icelandâs religious organizations of heathenry. Theyâre still making music and just released a new single!
SKĂLD - Chants, chants, and chants. SKĂLD offers some really energizing and upbeat chants (go check out the songs Odinn and Ă Valhalla). They also do a killer cover of The Doors song Riders On The Storm.
To finish up I have to say that this list isnât conclusive, and that there are so many more incredible artists out there. Iâll be putting up a playlist soon including these artists and many more for anyone interested in taking a listen, so stick around and Iâll keep you posted.
I also want to give thanks to all the pagan creators out there making such amazing art, youâre all incredibly talented and creative, and in my opinion, the backbone of this community. Art brings us together.Â
A collection of free-use texts on witchcraft, magic, and related topics. Shared with Dropbox
Hello, witches! Since Iâm always harping on about learning your history and checking your sources, I thought Iâd help folks get a head start by compiling some source material.
To that end, Iâve started a Dropbox folder with a stash of historical texts on witchcraft, magic, and related topics. Nearly everything Iâve managed to find so far is public domain (thank you Project Gutenberg), with the exception of a very thorough herbal grimoire I found online some years ago and a book of witchcraft from the 1970s that appears to be out of print.
I will be continuing in this vein with future texts that I find. Everything will be public domain or cited to the source that it came from, in PDF format. I will NOT be including PDFs of any book currently in circulation with a copyright linked to a living author or estate. The point of this folder is that everything in it should be free for sharing and open use as research materials.
Below is the initial list of titles. I tried to include as many as I could find, with a focus on some oft-cited classics. I will be adding new texts as I find them.
