Tiresias also has a cloak thing going on, but unlike with my design for Anticlea, his cloak is less restrictive to show how he works with death, rather than being entirely trapped by it.

I wasn’t sure whether to make his hair long/short, or give him a beard or not, but this is less about him and more about the clothes, I guess.

Tiresias gives very teal to me, but apparently a lot of people think he’s green. I added both (more color than Anticlea, also to show that he’s less of a mindless shade).

Another simple design. It took a little time to figure out how the chlamys(?) actually works, but hopefully it makes sense.

Modern Greek doesn’t have a /w/ sound, so I used a digamma/wau…

Anyways, there’s not much to say about this, but I had a lot of fun with the pose and the mask. I imagine Winions a little more evil and trickstery than canonical, but the sinister vibe goes well. I think the fur would canonically be very insulating, but for an actual garment, it’d have to be somehow not insulating.

I wanted to include the more modern take of sirens being sea creatures and the less modern take of sirens being literal birds with women’s faces. Not sure how well I did, but it’s subtle either way.

This is specifically for The Odyssey/EPIC sirens, though, if I recall correctly, in The Odyssey, they lure Odysseus more with secrets of Troy, rather than Penelope. So a little more EPIC focused, since I made her a beautiful woman with Penelope’s hair and headdress (without the veil thing).

Not sure about this one. I could’ve gone for a more flapper-esque vibe? I think she would probably take off the short cloak/shawl thing very quickly. But it seems mysterious, y’know? The Mycenaean (goodness gracious, my spelling while I’m drawing is atrocious) sun blush doesn’t seem particularly historically accurate (but what is in this drawing, am I right), and it’s cute cuz she’s a queen and the daughter of Helios.

I’m not sure what the fluff around her head and neck would be made of, but probably something with a little structure. Her arm band would be metal with little patterns of snakes and bears, as a nod to both her history with Scylla and her animal-taming(?) abilities in the Odyssey.

I kinda missed the opportunity to add in something about pigs, but maybe if the colors of her waistband was more of a pig pink, rather than a bright pink, it’d be good enough.

I wasn’t sure whether to have a lot of contrast between bright and dark colors (probably preferable) or to still to just dark colors (mysterious) or just bright colors (dangerous).

This is one of my favorite designs, if only because of how well I nailed that helmet. I know his stance is a little weird, but just imagine him leaning on a sword or something (I completely forgot to draw it in).

This is another of my very complicated designs, but it’s okay. Y’know what would be great? If I had enough money to buy a dedicated drawing pad so that I could do layers. Alas, I am broke, so we’re just stuck with traditional (though, I do love a good pencil and paper).

So, first he has on a very short chiton, that ends about mid-thigh (probably pinkish red).

Over that, he has a leather vest with metal (probably not gold, even though I wrote that it was) abs and pecs, as well as (attached), a leather skirt with metal studs.

Over that, he has that strip of fabric that I swear Ancient Greek or Roman senators and elites would sling over their shoulder and tie at the waist but that the Internet is trying to gaslight me about not existing (probably red with gold patterns).

Over that, he has a (I don’t know what to call it, but the thick metal thing that’s sometimes over the collarbone from about shoulder to shoulder???) with feathers and leather (like the skirt) on top.

Attached to that is the torn cape (black & gold inside, red & gold outside) with a cotton/fur bottom and thorns or barbed wire stuck inside (or maybe the fur and cotton’s wrapped around it).

On his shins, he has shin/knees braces and on his feet, he has jewel-encrusted kothurnos (red, pink, & gold).

On his forearms (or whatever they’re called), he has braces (with red gems and engraved patterns, probably a couple hearts).

On his head, he has a helmet with engravings and feathers (the two feathers like a ram mimic Athena’s two feathers like an anglerfish).

I was struggling so much cuz I was so attached to the idea of perfection that I didn’t let myself just get something out on the page.

Hephaestus is my favorite of all the gods and I wanted to do him justice. My design isn’t perfect, but at least I’ve done something.

I tried to really lean into the whole blacksmith thing, even so far as to take the usually flowy sleeve of the exomis and make it tighter (I’m thinking something like athletic fabric, moisture-wicking and all) for forge safety (though he’s a god, so it wouldn’t matter, but I like to think he tries to be a good role model for all the mortal blacksmiths).

I think on an earlier post, I said I’d try to tie Aphrodite into his design, but honestly… he’s too cool to be stuck in the past. Now he has a happy marriage with Aglaia. I totally think he’d do something crazy like make a rose made of mirror just so he could feel close to her in the forge. Also, it’s a choker for similar forge safety reasons.

I wasn’t really sure what to do with his disabled-ness, personally I envision him having either a giant mech or a mechanical leg he made himself, but I’m not really sure how I’d get that idea across through fashion.

This is probably my most confusing sketch of them all. I had so much trouble with Zeus because my rough sketch of him was literally just him in a dressing gown. And like… dressing gowns are cool, but not what I’m going for here. I decided to go with a classic chiton with a himation on top of it (I get so irritated when people tell me that it’s a toga, togas are Roman and evolved from himations (iirc)). Then I added a cape cuz I can. And a bunch of feathers to mimic Hera’s and a weird broze/gold chestplate (probably gold to compliment the other colors) cuz it looks cool.

He looks like a mannequin. I don’t- How do I fix this?!

He looks really normal cuz he’s just a silly little guy who talks to mortals a lot (both as a psychopomp and as a messenger) and doesn’t want to scare them out of their minds. I headcanon Hermes as related in some way to Kronos (I mean, I guess Kronos is his grandfather, but I mean that Hermes connects with Kronos) because Hermes reminds me of the Flash and the Flash reminds me of spacetime and going places quickly, which reminds me of time, which reminds me of Kronos. As such, I think Hermes would have a bunch of watches (normal, pocket and other). Also, if we’re talking EPIC (which we are, somewhat), I think the bead bracelets would be colored with Circe and Calypso’s colors.

It might be a little tacky, to be honest. I think the skirt is a little too forward, but I imagine one could just fade the pattern so that it’s not too crazy. All the fluff is a nod to my Zeus design (which I haven’t drawn yet). I used pomegranate red for immortality, green and dark blue for peacock feathers, light blue and yellow for Zeus, and gold and white for godliness.

I imagine there would be a sheer gold material either ontop of the dress or under it, but I don’t know if a material like that (that isn’t scratchy) exists. I thought about adding it to a veil, but I wasn’t sure how much marriage I wanted to reference. Like, it is her job, but marriage (especially in Ancient Greece) often signifies subservience in the woman. I wanted to suggest that she was independent. Maybe there would be a veil-like material as a layer underneath the cape/cloak-thing…

Also, I feel a little weird about not fleshing the scepter out, but I would’ve hated the process (straight lines can screw themselves).

My headcanon: Okay, so, the gods look pretty boring in front of mortals they trust, but whenever they meet someone new or someone they want to impress/terrorize, they either get super fancy w/the clothing or they lean into their godliness and become more otherworldly.
