the best part of the Harry Potter moviesâ approach to teenage crushes was the scene where Ron and Harry are talking while they fall asleep and Ron is like âwhy are all these boys into my sisterâ and Harry clearly finds Ginny attractive and wants to talk about it with Ron but at the same time doesnât want to actually TELL Ron, so he tries to think of an answer that simultaneously acknowledges her attractiveness while making it seem like heâs Never Thought About It Before and he comes up with âsheâs got nice skinâ
and Ron is like âyou think all these boys are dating my sister for her skinâŠ?!â and Harry is like âdude I donât know Iâve never looked at your sister before and I definitely donât have Mr. Harry Potter-Weasley written on the inside cover of my trapper keeperâ
and then thereâs like five seconds of silence before Ron, whoâs clearly attracted to Hermione and wants to talk about it with Harry but at the same time doesnât want to actually TELL Harry, says âHermioneâs got nice skin!â as though heâd TOTALLY never taken notice of Hermione or her skin until Harry mentioned Skin Niceness as a metric for attractiveness
and then they both go to bed without ever actually discussing the thing they wanted to discuss
which is like 98% of sleepovers I had as an adolescent

Harry canât sleep one night, heâs remembering how it felt to be possessed by Voldemort, how awful it was, and he thinks about having to endure that for a whole year. and he looks at Ginny sleeping beside him and heâs just in such awe of her.
and he thinks, how did I get so lucky, that this terrifying, beautiful force of nature ended up loving me?
he accidentally wakes her up a bit brushing a lock of hair out of her eyes, and she mumbles âwhat is it?â and he can only whisper, âyouâre the strongest person I knowâ
and Ginny smiles a bit and mumbles âdamn straightâ and falls back asleep
Imagine Harry and Ginny a few months into their marriage and theyâre so happy and in love and then one day they go shopping for food and household items and Harry just casually grabs certain items before Ginny hisses at him to âCheck the prices, Harry, God! That bed set is far too expensive, weâre not going to have anything left to get the food with!â And Harry starts to laugh and say âWe donât have to worry about -â and then he stops and he and Ginny look at each other. And Harry realizes that sheâs grown up having to measure out all her money and decide what she can and cannot have for a certain week or month or year. And Ginny realizes that she is actually no longer obligated to worry about money ever again.Â
Imagine Harry and Ginny eating dinner together and Ginnyâs telling him about certain meals her mum made and teasing him about how he wolfs everything down and âHonestly Harry, youâre worse than Ron!â and Harry retorts laughingly âwell old habits die hard, I had to fight Dudley for meals all the time, you at least knew you were going to eat every day!â And Ginnyâs grin starts to fade and she asks âYouâŠyou didnât get to eat everyday?â And Harry realizes what he said and he changes the subject quickly and Ginny looks at the plates in front of him and resists the urge to pile on some more potatoes. And the next day Vernon Dursleyâs car is egged.Â
Imagine Harry and Ginny both suffering from night terrors and PTSD and agreeing that maybe going to that therapist Hermione recommended isnât such a bad idea, and thatâs how Thursday night became Therapy Night when they go out to dinner or to the pub after each session and agree that  they need to talk to some Healers about introducing these sessions since therapy is still widely seen as muggle nonsense in the wizarding world.
And Ginny murmurs over her fire whiskey that sometimes she can still hear Tom Riddle murmuring in her ear, and Harry whispers that he dreams about running after his mother and father and Sirius and Remus as they disappear behind the Veil in the Department of Mysteries and he doesnât know if he wakes from terror or regret about not making it through. And they go back home and hold each other closer that night and both wake up with raging hangovers.Â
Ripples of cold undulated over Harryâs skin. He wanted to shout out to the night, he wanted Ginny to know that he was there, he wanted her to know where he was going. He wanted to be stopped, to be dragged back, to be sent back home⊠With a huge effort, Harry forced himself on. He thought he saw Ginny look round as he passed and wondered whether she had sensed someone walking nearby, but he did not speak, and he did not look back.

in the heat of the battle, sirius ensured harry and neville were well out of the line of fire before jumping into the fray himselfâhe died knowing heâs kept harry safe until the very end as best as he could.
In the behind the scenes, Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham Carter have so much fun with the filming of that scene (so sad it was taken out), and Gary is jumping out of Helenaâs way as he goads her, throwing spells back and forth and heâs like âCome on, cousin! You can do better than that! Come on, cousin!â
