Urban Form Notes from Bluey

I’m a civil engineer and a grown-up Bluey fan… This Tumblr is a place where I write up observations, commentary, etc. about the urban form, placemaking, civil engineering, etc. in episodes of the cartoon “Bluey”...

Now that I’m into this, the scope of work is slowly expanding to also include world-building details, and even a bit of fanart.

After the readmore so nobody gets spoiled if they want to avoid such stuff…

Anyone who has been following this Tumblr knows this is an evergreen topic; here’s a new news story on pushback in Australia on large imported pickup trucks.

A new project for Joe Brumm is a new animated series for adults entitled "Deano"; he is script editor and an executive producer on it.

It will be interesting to see if the same attention to detail and storytelling will be in abundance on this new show.

“Last week, Bluey and Bingo travelled across Japan on a special Bluey-themed bus, meeting fans nationwide on their biggest ever multi-city roadtrip. Building on last year's success, this year's tour expanded to eight major locations including Shibuya, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima and more, with special stage shows and meet‑and‑greets at AEON malls in Nagoya and Osaka.

The tour kicked off with an unforgettable moment as the Bluey Bus drove through the world-famous Shibuya scramble crossing and was also captured under a 16‑metre Bluey billboard that reaches at least 3.4 million pedestrians in a week.

The tour also made a special stop in Kobe City, where BBC Studios was welcomed by the mayor’s office on a family festival to celebrate the 40‑year sister city relationship between Kobe and Brisbane, Bluey’s hometown. Key highlights included the city mayor announcing BBC Studios gifting 300 Bluey books to local kindergartens, nursery schools and childcare centres, along with exciting plans for Bluey-themed train on one of Kobe’s subway lines.”

An upcoming new Bluey video game to be released later this year!

This looks interesting... a game where you walk around and snap photos in the Bluey universe... because yes, I would actually like to walk around in the Bluey version of Brisbane taking photos and enjoying the scenery. (…coz that's what this Tumblr is all about, etc.)
