Ace Investigations

I’m currently completely and utterly broke! Wonderful, isn’t it? I lost my job a few weeks ago because depression apparently isn’t covered in sick leave. Who knew? 

I MAY have a job at Target in the upcoming week but even if I do land the job I won’t get paid for at least a week, maybe two, maybe not even until the end of the month. HOWEVER I don’t even have enough money right now to keep my cell phone, how Target and other jobs would contact me, on, or to put gas in my car.

I really just need a little help right now, nothing much. I’ve seen this sort of thing work for people before. My friends have been wonderful and have helped me a lot, with their help I managed to pay my car, my insurance, the registration on my car. But it’s just…I don’t know if I can make it to the next time I have to pay those things.

"Paperwork? Office? So the roof sniping is just a hobby, eh?" Nick teased, realizing that if it WAS part of this man’s job, he’d probably not say so. Weren’t to many occupations where that fit the job description, short of bird watching and roofing, neither of which this man had been doing, and the rest were generally not something one admitted to without risking said job.

"I…I’m sure you don’t want that." He said, a mild panic in his voice. Though singing had been a large part of his culture growing up he hadn’t sung in years. He gulped. "Ah…Okay. Well. Here goes…"

He didn’t even remember that he’d stuck that photograph in a folder of citizenship papers (which may or may not have been faked) until Isidor stopped and pulled it out. Dietrich stayed quiet, letting him look the photo over. Normally he wouldn’t have let anyone see it, let alone touch it, especially because it was one of the few things he owned that he actually cared about. But he trusted Isidor automatically, and didn’t protest in the slightest as his precious photograph was gently handled. 

A small cleaning robot spun and wheeled it’s way across the floor and Seti caught it’s tail with his foot. Like a cat playing with a mouse. He held it there long enough for it to try and struggle in an attempt to get away before finally relenting. It shot across the room like a rocket and he smirked. “They did, yes. I even have a full range of emotions.” Which were highly experimental at the time and often led him right into trouble. The ability to adapt combined with them had led to him developing quite a few unwanted subroutines. “It’s alright. I wasn’t programmed to cope, but I’ve learned.” The hard way, in fact. His last captain had actually prepared him to adapt to trauma.

He observed Seti coolly. He seemed...human, eerily so, because there was something...off. Probably the same thing that people thought when they looked at him, actually. Isidor wasn't entirely human, but he wasn't an android by any means. He tilted his head slightly and pursed his lips as the bot interacted with a lesser programmed one. Interesting. Shows cruelty, cunning, real intelligence and the ability to enjoy things. Sadism? Well, he really was human then.

Back from a long hiatus while focusing on school and work.

Here we have a shot from our recent trip to Greece. This is the ruins of Apollo's temple at the site of ancient Delphi, Greece. 

The ruins of the Temple of Delphi visible today date from the 4th century BC are of a peripteral Doric building. It was erected on the remains of an earlier temple, dated to the 6th century BC which itself was erected on the site of a 7th-century BC construction attributed to the architects Trophonios and Agamedes. The 6th-century BC temple was named the “Temple of Alcmonidae” in tribute to the Athenian family who funded its reconstruction following a fire, which had destroyed the original structure. The new building was a Doric hexastyle temple of 6 by 15 columns. This temple was destroyed in 373 BC by an earthquake. The pediment sculptures are a tribute to Praxias and Androsthenesof Athens. Of a similar proportion to the second temple it retained the 6 by 15 column pattern around the stylobate. Inside was the adyton, the centre of the Delphic oracle and seat of Pythia. The temple had the statement “Know thyself”, one of the Delphic maxims, carved into it (and some modern Greek writers say the rest were carved into it), and the maxims were attributed to Apollo and given through the oracle and/or the Seven Sages of Greece (“know thyself” perhaps also being attributed to other famous philosophers). The monument was partly restored during 1938(?)–1300. The temple survived until 390 AD, when the Christian emperor Theodosius I silenced the oracle by destroying the temple and most of the statues and works of art in the name of Christianity.The site was completely destroyed by zealous Christians in an attempt to remove all traces of Paganism.
