requested by @lumoslames: if you’re comfortable with it, would you be able to do a period preference with the marauders? maybe you bleed through the sheets or your jeans or something? thanks x
summary: periods rlly suck
You and james were out and about in Hogsmeade on a date having the grandest time imaginable. After having spent nearly all your money restocking your stash of candy at Honeydukes and buying a few new pranking items at Zonko’s, you were off to the Three Broomsticks. Your intertwined hands swung in between the both of you as you made a small game of not stepping on the cracks in the cobblestone road. Your laughter could be heard throughout the village whilst you stumbled over each other, probably looking like complete fools to any passing stranger. You were on cloud nine when suddenly, it happened. The worst and least expected thing possible hit you like a bus.
Your stumbling feet halted at the familiar feeling down below, eyes growing wide as your grip on James’s hand subconsciously tightened. He turned to face you, brows furrowed in confusion. “Y/N? What’s wrong?”
“I hate to rain on our parade, but we’ve got to go back,” you mumbled in a mixture of embarrassment and annoyance. You sharply turned in the opposite direction, starting your walk back to the castle with a still confused James jogging to catch up with your hurried steps.
His concern increased at your actions, “What’s going on? Did I do something wrong?”
“Mother Nature decided to pay me a visit,” you grumbled, a displeased expression apparent on your face. Relief flooded your boyfriend upon learning it wasn’t anything he did, but he still remained oblivious to what you were talking about.
“What do you mean Mother Nature paid you a-,” he paused, realization dawning on him, “Oh.”
A sympathetic smile made its way onto his face as he got used to your fast pace. “Is there anything I can do to help?” he tried, not knowing what exactly to do in the unfamiliar situation.
Just as you were about to deny his help, you paused. The feeling between your legs seemed to spread, now becoming extremely uncomfortable, “Actually, there is something,” you bit your lip, a blush rising to your cheeks. “Could you, er, could I use your jacket to,” you trailed off, hoping he’d get the hint.
The glasses-clad boy shook off his jacket in a swift motion before you’d even finished your sentence and launched it at you. You pulled it on, for once thankful he was so tall as it safely reached mid-thigh and covered your butt.
You arrived at Hogwarts sooner than usual due to your quickened pace and the pair of you raced up to the Gryffindor Common Room. “Thanks for the jacket. I guess I’ll just head up to my dorm then,” you awkwardly shifted from foot to foot after handing James his jacket.
“You don’t have to go to your room,” he frowned, stopping you from retreating up the stairs. “You could come to mine. I mean, the boys will probably be out for the rest of the day and I don’t want you being miserable on your own,” he teased you lightly.
You smiled softly at the offer, “Sure. I’ve just got to change first since, you know,” you gestured to your probably ruined leggings. “I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
“Do you want me to get you anything? I can always run down to the kitchens,” he offered with a kind smile.
“Yeah, sure. That’d be great,” your lips turned upwards to match his. “You know what to get.”
Both of you held matching grins as you turned and made your way to your respective locations. Once changed into your favorite pair of sweats and a more comfortable shirt, you quickly popped a couple of painkillers before making your way to James’s room. You were surprised to find him already sitting on his bed waiting for you with a tray of your favorite foods next to him.
A smile spread across your face, “You really didn’t have to do all this,” you saunter over to him, placing your hands on his shoulders as his rested on your waist. “And I’m sorry I ruined our day,” you gnawed on your bottom lip guiltily.
“Of course I didn’t, but I wanted to,” he assured you. “There’s no way you could’ve ruined it if it’s not over yet,” a cheeky grin took over his face. He leaned forward to nudge your nose with his own, eliciting a giggle from you. He pulled you onto the bed with him so you were lying next to him as you snuggled closer into his side.
James had been so understanding and loving all day, and your heart couldn’t help but flutter at the thought. He had made it his mission to make you happy and was doing an amazing job at it.
It was Sunday at Hogwarts and your friends had planned on spending the day by the Black Lake. You were in the midst of getting ready when you had realized you’d started your period a few days earlier than expected. The fun day you’d planned turned sour as you were forced to tell your girl friends you’d be spending the day inside.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N, we can stay with you if you’d like,” Lily offered with a sympathetic smile, the girls next to her nodding in agreement. Your heart lifted slightly at their kindness, but you brushed off their offer.
“I’ll be fine on my own. I should catch up on some homework anyways,” you assured her. “Go have fun, I promise it’s fine,” you waved them off. You weren’t about to let your problems ruin their day. After the group of girls left you reluctantly hauled yourself from the comfort of your room and padded barefoot towards your best friend’s room.
You and James had been inseparable since the age of four so you figured he’d be able to cheer you up. Yet upon swinging the door open, you found the messy room empty. Rather than going back to your own room, you plopped yourself atop his bed and snuggled into his covers, sleep tugging at your eyelids. Just as you had begun to doze off, you were rudely interrupted.
“What are you doing here?”
You grunted in surprise as your eyes flew open only to roll at the shaggy-haired boy standing before you. “Well I was trying to sleep, but then you decided to ruin that too.”
Your snappy tone caused a grin to form on Sirius’s face, “And you can’t sleep in your own dorm?”
He opened his mouth to retaliate, but you beat him to it, “Where’s James?”
Your eyes narrowed at the smug boy, wanting nothing more than to wipe that stupid, annoyingly attractive smirk off his face. “You’re infuriating,” you bluntly reply before shoving your face into James’s pillow.
A chuckle escapes him, pleased he had such an effect on you, “You’re more irritable than usual, and that’s saying something. What’s got your panties in a twist?”
You snorted into the soft fabric at the irony of his statement. Not moving from your head from its spot, you sent him a muffled reply, “Girl stuff. Now go away before I skin Padfoot and turn you into a fur coat.”
Unfazed by your threat, he strode towards his friend’s bed and plopped himself on it, “Tell me. Is it boy drama? Ooh, I bet it is. Who is it? Is it James? Moony? It’s Moony isn’t it? I mean, I can’t blame you, that boy is a fine piece of-”
You cut off his high pitched rant mimicking your voice with a swift kick to the side. He groaned, though didn’t let your violence throw him off, “Okay, so it isn’t Moony. Who is it then, Y/N?” he crawled closer to you before speaking again in the most taunting tone yet, “Is it me? Do you fancy me, Y/N?”
Just as you got ready to shove him onto the floor, he jumped on top of you, his weight landing directly on the worst part imaginable– your abdomen. Your head shot up from the pillow, eyes widening as a howl ripped from you throat. Sirius scrambled off of you, eyes frantic at your cry of agony.
“What? What’s wrong?”
You clutched your stomach tightly, eyes squinting closed in pain. You forced them open, sending a deep set glare in his direction, “You wanna know what’s fucking wrong, Sirius? I have blood coming out of my vagina and it feels like ten million swords are stabbing at my stomach and all I wanted was some peace and quiet and what do you do? You pester me for your own amusement and jump on my fucking stomach. That’s what’s wrong, you dick bag.”
Realization settled in the animagus’s eyes, his face contorting to hold a look of guilt. You shoved your face back in James’s pillow, turning onto your side away from him. Rather than responding verbally, Sirius cautiously sat on the bed next to you. Your body tensed at the added weight, unsure of what he was planning. Surprise overtook you, however, at the feeling of his arms snaking around your waist and pulling you into him. Your body tensed, unsure of how to react.
“What are you doing?” you mumbled into the fabric.
He lifted up your shirt just enough for one of his hands to rest on your stomach, “Apologizing.”
No words were spoken as you lightly kneaded your skin, both of you wallowing in the rather intimate moment. The pain in your lower stomach was replaced with butterflies as your frenemy spooned you, your heart racing at the feeling of being so near him.
The two of you eventually fell asleep in each others arms, your soft snores filling the spacious room. You slept peacefully for hours until James and the rest of the marauders returned when you were rudely awoken for the second time that day by a horrified scream.
“We leave for a few hours!”
You were asleep in Remus’s bed after a long night together, your bodies touching as you slept facing each other. The light peaking through his curtains woke you up as your initial morning grogginess slowly faded away, your tired eyes blinking to adjust. It took you a few moments to fully take in your surroundings: the unfamiliar covers, the beautiful boy sleeping next to you, and– what was that feeling?
Your eyes slowly trailed to the covers occupied by your body, hoping and praying that feeling wasn’t what you thought it was. Your prayers failed as a spot of red appeared in your line of vision. Your heart plummeted in panic, the uncomfortable feeling between your thighs heightening upon the realization of what had happened overnight– your period had come.
You quickly accessed your options, not moving from your position as you knew how light of a sleeper Remus tended to be. What were you going to do? You couldn’t change the sheets with your boyfriend still asleep but you didn’t exactly want to wake him and explain the situation. In fact, this was the last thing you wanted to do. You wracked your brain for any sort of spell for this type of situation, but nothing came. Your panicked train of thought crashed at the hum escaping the boy laying next to you, his eyes slowly fluttering open.
The beating of your heart seemed to multiply at his tired voice, “Morning.”
Getting a grip of yourself, you shakily forced out a ‘morning’ back. His brows furrowed at your nervous tone, eyes now fully opened as they focused on you, “What’s wrong?”
Your body froze, unsure of what to do. It was certainly too late to evade the situation but you didn’t really know how to tell him you’d bled through your sleep shorts onto his bed. Your cheeks flared up at the thought, wanting nothing more than to crawl in a hole and never come out. “I, erm, I may have, uh, leaked a little bit.”
The awkward words tumbling out of your mouth served no purpose as his confused expression only deepened, “What do you mean?”
You huffed, the embarrassment flooding in you increasing my the second, “Just get up.”
His eyes watched you suspiciously, though he pulled himself from the confines of his bed nevertheless. As soon as he’d detached himself from the covers, you hopped up and began stripping the sheets with hopes you’d be too quick for him to see the mess. Your plan failed, however, as his confused eyes widened in realization, “Oh.”
“Yeah, ‘oh’,” you grumbled, your cheeks reddening even more now to resemble a fire engine red. Your movements were hasty as you felt tears prickling at your eyes at the embarrassment. You mentally groaned, willing yourself not to cry over a bloody mattress– literally.
Remus caught onto your watering eyes, rushing over to your side. He halted your movements by grasping your face into his hands. Your eyes locked as his finger softly rubbed away an escaped tear. “It’s okay, Y/N. There’s nothing to be upset about,” he reassured you.
You sniffled, his words only breaking the barrier you’d put up against your tears as they all came spilling out. He pulled you into his chest, your wet face smearing across his bare chest as he shushed you, rubbing your back comfortingly. You eventually settled down, your tears subsiding. “’M sorry,” you apologized. “I’m emotional.”
The pout on your face caused him to chuckle as he plucked the dropped sheets from the ground. Reaching over you to grab his wand from the beside drawer, he mumbled an incantation, “Tergeo.”
The red stain vanished in thin air at his words, relief flooding through you. “I knew there was a spell I couldn’t remember.”
A close-mouthed smile spread across his lips at your words. He pulled you into another embrace, your bodies molding together perfectly. You stood wrapped in each other’s arms for a few moments longer before reality hit you, “I still need to go and take care of the problem down below.”
The blush on your cheeks returned as you spoke, pulling yourself away from Remus’s body. He nodded in understanding, “Take your time. But come back once you’re done. I’m not letting you spend the day alone.”
A loving smile took over your face, his words causing your heart to skip a beat. You nodded and turned to leave, but not before leaving a small kiss to his nose. In that moment, you couldn’t have been more thankful to be as lucky as you were to have Remus.
