Ykno. Dragons are very sneaky. One may just pretend to be your obedient pet only to make it clear who really is the pet in the relationship. Consider:
You rescued a dragon when it was sick and injured. Youve heard stories 'You shouldnt keep a dragon, theyre unpredictable and a LOT of work!' and 'your cousin tried to keep a dragon! He was eaten within the year he picked that dreaded reptile up.' But it was sooo cute, ever playful and so very clever. Seeming just a bit smarter than a crow. And once back up to health it wouldnt leave your side even if you tried to make it go. Cooing and snorting for scraps and begging for attention all day long. For months it has been this way, maybe even years!
But.. One day things turn a bit sinister, youre all distracted with something else, work, cooking.. hardly matters once it comes up and presses a razor sharp claw up to your tender throat. But Its never done that before.. Surely this is just a new game? The claw glides, never cutting till it finds its mark.
And a mark it sure is. Intricate. The blood flows and your heartbeat thunders in your ears. The motion swift. A little reminder to show where you belong, of course. In the arms of your beloved dragon, that you realize now has more control here than you ever did. It was smarter than you ever realized.
And now the two of you are pressed up against a wall. You are at its mercy.
