thinking about the blight twins and how em is probably technically the older sibling and how we can tell so much from them just from them saying their fears out loud and examining their behavior from that standpoint….. emira is afraid of being associated with her brother her whole life and, like amity, craves independence from her family and the family business. She’s kinda the one in charge when its just the siblings and it looks a lot like she feels a lot of pressure from her mother to keep the other two in line, and shes started combating that pressure with a little teenage rebellion. She doesn’t want to do abominations she doesn’t want to take on blight industries she doesn’t want to wear matching outfits with her brother all the time— she wants to be her own person. She wants her own life.

ED on the other hand has been looked over his whole life?? Again he’s probably technically the second born by a few minutes or whatever and has a huge case of Middle Kid Syndrome. His younger sister has always been able to work harder than him and be the star students their parents want, and em is in line to inherit the company and has their expectations of a big future. But ed… just kinda is there. He is good at things!! he’s good at beast keeping and illusions and also might have an experimental career ahead with potions!! But no one cares about that. He very clearly craves honest love and companionship. He wants to keep the bat as a pet. He doesn’t want to be alone forever which implies that he already feels alone nothing he does will ever be enough to earn the attention from his parents so why even try to be good with abominations or even oracle stuff? And then he meets eda— and he fucks up the truth serum and he fears what shes going to do to him for that and she …. gives him a tshirt… and praises him for inventing a new potion?? thats never happened to him before.

idk they’re just both really interesting. i hope we see them a little more in watching and dreaming
