　　　 The both of them were wrapped up in his arms, secured against his chest as if he were afraid they’d both disappear at any moment; a constant, warranted fear that he had to fight back in this moment. Because it wasn’t his decision, it wasn’t just a personal struggle. A deep-seated, vehement devotion that only a father could possess did battle with the respect he had for Clem as a survivor. It didn’t mean he wasn’t going to sit here and cling to her company for as long as he could, resting the side of his face gently against hers.　　　 “...You’re strong, Clem.” He tried not to let his voice crack, but it was hard--clutching softly at the back of that coat she’d been given, “You’n that boy, both. You wouldn’t have made it this far if ya weren’t. Just please-...take care’a yerself. Take care’a him. For me.” Pulling back, a rough hand touched the side of her face with a tenderness he didn’t often express.　　　 Letting her go--letting her make the hard decisions--...that’s what a parent did.

Since I’m takin’ a breather on writing for a bit, I might as well draw. Sooo, Kenny drawing it is. First two had refs, third did not. Just practicin’ how I like to draw my grumpy old!man dad.
