some days we have company over.
some days my parents take me places.

I don't see them often, but I like their company.
some days my parents are agitated.
some days they acknowledge.
some days i find a hobby.
some days my parents are around.
my grandmother has been visiting to help us with the move.
my grandmother feeds us when my parents cannot.
my grandparents are good people.
i don't respect their views.
some days i obsess over my appearance
and my parents are there.
some days dad takes us to school
some days he takes us to the mall.
when he isn't overwhelmed by the budget.
some days i cheer when he leaves for trips.

some days i am anxious, timid, comparable to that of a blind fawn infested with parasites
some days there are reasons
some days i just don't know why.
some days thats not an acceptable answer.
or else i'm ineffective when i want to intervene
some days everyone is mad
some days they talk in their native language so that the kids won't understand
some days you become smart enough to figure out what they say.
some days she needs this job.
some days she has looked.
some days she can't trust anybody anymore.
she's afraid to lose her light in a dark, narrow path.
she can't trust her children with anyone.
a day where we yelled like the telenovela we used to watch together.
a day where he threw the dresser down the stairs.
a day where i thought of a way to document it.
a day where my sister tried to ignore the yelling around her.

a day where i shook, tapped at my laptop's keys like they tried figuring out what to say,
a day where my grandmother spoke in her native language, my grandfather could have backed her up.
a day where my brother, for once, stayed quiet.
a day where he told me he's been wrong since he came to Maryland.
a day where everything was fucked since 2011.
a day where i reconciled what he meant by that,
the year my grandmother found out I was going to be brought into this world.
a day where he kissed his children on their foreheads and left.
my father is finally gone.
