Sure ofc it makes him look more futuristic, but him looking like he comes from the future is, to me, a less important part to get across in his design.
To me it's most important that he looks angelical. That he looks like a literal beam of hope. If Shadow's the dark he's the light. He's an angel born in hell (literally speaking)
His colors are soft and light for a reason. The extra black accents some people give him makes him look more edgy than he actually is. All the edge that's on his personality is already communicated enough by his sharp eye shape, messy chest fur and quills
