Helloo love that everyone in the fandom is promoting good fandom etiquettes, it is soo important
uu is the first RP fandom for me, which came with boundaries. That is actually rlly new to me… haha- I don’t think it was a concept to me at first, and that it was common sense to know how to separate fanon and canon (iywim?), but more importantly to know fiction ≠ irl
It’s actually really disheartening to see ppl shove their otps or leaks fandom stuff into cc space. We as a fandom, as fans, should know better and seeing an uprise in educating others abt fandom etiquettes is amazing !
I see so many fics tag as boundary breaking, and there was one that I recently read,, the first comment was smth along the lines of “if yk this is boundary breaking why would you post this?” Which is sososo sad bc personally I would have got rlly demotivated,, ao3 should be this censorship free space; what happens in ao3 stays in ao3
Another is fics shaming and it’s actually so sad bc that’s js mean,, we tag correctly and everything, yet we are still suffering.
that rlly actually makes my blood boils bc one of the fic shaming I encounter was someone on here too, and even tho it was only slightly; I actually like that fic even if it’s not their kink </3 it’s MINE and the author could have seen it .
Uhmm I haven’t actually warn the author, but I would like to just warn everyone that we do have a tiny lurker in the fandom biting

no you're right too nods nodsit was a hugeee problem back in dsmp because it was the first time a cc went "hey. no." in mcyt (I know other ccs did so, like jack and mark during the 2016 era, along with others, but we're talking specifically mcyt here) and then ls expanded on that!!! which is good!!!! ccs are allowed to go "hey I really don't want to see this stuff" but they also need to either:
a. know that even though they're setting this boundary, people will go against it
b. be in fandom or out of fandom. there's no in-between and there never will be.
i know he gets brought up a lot, but how abolish treats fandom is how all ccs should. pearl too!!!! abolish was al "hey I don't like this, please put all that under this tag here so I can block it!" and pearl went "I don't like seeing it, just don't maintag it and I'll block the tags and we're golden" and yk what fandoms aren't having internal fights? hc and abolish. I wonder why /silly
the separation of fact and fiction is difficult for some people and I will alwayssss defend them because it can be hard!!!! if this was still early uu, where it was less scripted, they were mentioning discord and door dash and etc etc, I'd so understand!!! because it wasn't as rp heavy as it is now! but nowadays, its *roleplay*, and its heavy roleplay. while they're still improvising, they still have scenes they want to hit, arcs they want done, and they do have major character growth!! they're actors. they're acting.
im always for education!!! I'll educate people about anything and everything !!!! its important to know, especially in this day and age, and the more people that know about fandom etiquette and other things, the happier the fandom will be imo
tbh the whole thing with boundary breaking is that we have to, unfortuntely, come to terms that some people do not understand "don't like, don't read" </3 if anyone gets those comments, always remember its *your* fics and its *your* mental energy, you can always delete comments. don't let them get to you tbh
honestly, and I might sound like a dick for this giggles, block them. if you come across a blog, or a user, or someone on twt, idk, and you don't agree with them? you don't like what they're doing? block them. you curate your own experiences!!!! if you see someone shaming a fic, ignore and block!!! you have to follow "don't like don't read," and so do they!!! your fandom experience will be much more freeing if you follow people with your kinks, your likes, and similar-ish opinions. it really does suck to see, I know it does, but part of fandom etiquette is knowing what you like, what you don't, and blocking.
please. please block. this goes to everyone reading this!!!! don't like don't read is a biggggg factor in fandom!!!! you can block tags on tumblr and you can filter out tags on ao3. if anyone needs help with either, reach out and queen and I will gladly help <3
also!!! remember to not witch hunt!!! don't bring things to people outside of our spaces, don't tell ccs about any of this, and lets all be a happy community together :D
