Portland Oregon based alternative punk band Fadd9, have finally dropped their well awaited EP onto the music scene. As a young, mostly high schooler comprised band, Fadd9 is ready to inject your life with super high-energy, brilliantly influenced tracks that will make you wanna lose control. Loud, rowdy, and pure garage punk genius, these tunes are ones that you’re going to want to blast full volume for anyone who will listen. Comprised of Bryce Cumpston, Beck Cheevers, Rory Cheevers and Gabe Armattoe, this spirited band shocks listeners with their edge but draws them in with their infectious passion. Electric Daze had the pleasure to sit down with the Fadd9 boys and talk their six track EP ‘Welcome to Mars’, and what makes them the unlikely and unapologetic force to be reckoned with that they are.

Electric Daze: So I hear figuring out your band name was pretty difficult. Could you tell me how you finally decided on Fadd9 and what it took to get there?

Bryce Cumpston (drums): “We didn’t have a name for like two months. Beck literally hated everything anyone brought up.”

Beck Cheevers (vocals and guitar): “Yeah it took us a while, we like narrowed it down to five things-”

Gabe Armattoe (bass guitar): “We had it on a whiteboard, we took several votes-”

Rory Cheevers (lead guitar): “Each person got to vote twice and then it ended up tying.”

Gabe: “Eventually we all got fed up and Fadd9 was one of the options-”

Rory: “And then we’re just like ‘why not’?”

ED: What does Fadd9 mean for those who might now know?

Beck: “It’s the opening chord to ‘A Hard Day’s Night’ By The Beatles. It’s like this bell chime thing at the beginning of the song”.
