New tumblr. Since the old one I used as a singular native intro for social media was part of a mass hack as a visibly marginalized social media user. By a yt non native hacker. Had to make a new one from scratch. I wasn’t a big account but still a visibly outspoken and marginalized one. I had a lot of content, writing, art, activism etc there as a disabled and lgbt native of color content creator and multidisciplinary creative. It’s tiring building and rebuilding the bipoc qtipoc and disabled community I had here again. I don’t remember everyone I knew on there is a big part of that problem. As I am a multiple disabled native person of color. After that mass hack I am being more strict with my boundaries sphere and space here online. BYI Be sure to check out my bio links and pinned post. Everything is numbered so you can keep track of where you are. For readability and accessibility purposes. For privacy security and safety reasons. Esp as a visibly brown disabled and lgbt native of color.
Remember these symbols hashtags and that byi are in my bio and pinned post for a reason. Trying to curate and protect my social media sphere and space here. Always editing and updating with new info. Check before following. Check before interacting. For new and old followers and lurkers. When you are done reading it. Be sure to like and reblog the bio and pinned post. Of the singular post versions on tumblr wordpress and blogspot. Of the pinned thread versions on bluesky and threads of instagram. For the algorithm and amplification. This also lets me keep track with my multiple disabilities of who has or hasn’t read my intro before following or interacting with me. Hard to remember otherwise. Please respect my sphere, boundaries, & space here.
“The Māori word for autism is Takiwātanga, meaning "in their own time and space.”
No. Takiwātanga was a word chosen BY allistic and neurotypicals FOR autistic Māori
Who already had a word and terminology to describe themselves which was kura urupare.
We disabled Oceanic Pasifika Indigenous people have our own terms
Amplify these not abled bodied ones
Its nuanced if YOU as a disabled Indigenous Pasifika choose to reclaim this word Go for it But if you are NOT an Indigenous Pasifika Stop using this term for us
I don't want to talk about the 1000 days because I died a thousand times over during those days. They ripped my soul from me, took my sanity, and killed everything beautiful I saw. It's just a number the world talks about today and forgets tomorrow, even though tomorrow will be worse because it's 1001, meaning tomorrow there will be death, hunger, fear, poverty, and oppression. Nothing will change except that we keep getting worse and worse and worse. The whole world is showing sympathy today, but tomorrow they'll forget, even as our extermination and killing continue.

in case you missed it, this video talks about the portrayal of torture in various media including but not limited to Law and Order, zero Dark Thirty, Law and Order, Julia, Avatar the Last Airbender, Legend of Korra, Invincible, Marvel Films like Iron Man, anime and shonen, and so much more.
It draws on Black, Indigenous, Palestinian, feminist, and disability based scholarship to talk about the various facets of how torture is portrayed and whose interests it serves. Torture is very much racialized and gendered, which drastically changes how it's framed depending on the actor and acted upon.
"The liberal is so preoccupied with stopping confrontation that he usually finds himself defending and calling for law and order, the law and order of the oppressor. Confrontation would disrupt the smooth functioning of the society and so the politics of the liberal leads him into a position where he finds himself politically aligned with the oppressor rather than with the oppressed. The reason the liberal seeks to stop confrontation [...] is that his role, regardless of what he says, is really to maintain the status quo, rather than to change it. He enjoys economic stability from the status quo and if he fights for change he is risking his economic stability. What the liberal is really saying is that he hopes to bring about justice and economic stability for everyone through reform, that somehow the society will be able to keep expanding without redistributing the wealth."
Me: hey don't you think it's fucked up that white characters are defended by fans even when they are written to be villains in text, but morally ambiguous Black and Brown characters are seen as the fucking worst by fandom?

It is genuinely wild that just in the past few months we've had to contend with "Wind Waker Ganondorf is a liar he is just manipulating you" and "Wind Waker Ganondorf speaks like a fascist" and "Wind Waker Ganondorf is not even the same OoT Ganondorf he retcons him" because these arguments are allegedly easier to believe over Ganondorf, a human, having human emotion. Very hard to believe that the baddie who hungers for power might have some sentimentality for what he believes he's lost.
Sorry bringing this back because I'm thinking about it and it is actually really funny (derogatory) that people are this pressed because Ganondorf said "the place where I grew up kind of sucked and I was envious of my neighbors and I wanted what they have" like this is the most basic ass storyline you can give a villain and people can't handle it lmao
(popular leftist voice) these right wingers are all sooo poorrrr and stupid. They are stupid because they are poorrrr, racism would never exist in my suburban area
Popular leftist voice: these right wingers must have brain damage. They must be bigots because they are literally reta suffering from blsck mold, or brain damage.
You ever think about how a film like Finding Nemo has a torture scene in it and what that says about the 2000s US?
This looks at a range of media from superhero stories, anime and wuxia, 1960s-90s comics and television, and Marvel films to draw a broader narrative about the context of how alignment to the settler class and the war on terror influences the conversations on torture.
I'm less interested in the imagery of torture discussing how graphic it is and instead discussing more the framing.
Who is allowed to be violent? What is even considered violent in the first place? By looking at how torture is racialized and gendered along with a mad/disabled lens, this video draws from Black, Indigenous, and Palestinian scholarship to discuss the selective spectacle of torture in media.

In my absence, Eman's village's situation has been getting worse, far far worse. As the fabric of Sudan's medical and other social infrastructures have been destroyed by war and genocide, displaced people are seeing a high risk of disease outbreaks amongst them. This is what Eman's village is currently going through, and her family has been one of many affected by dengue fever.
Eman is scared, alone, and feels like her family's situation is invisible. Please show her that she isn't alone, and that her and her family and her village aren't invisible. Please if you can spare anything, help Eman out.

genuinely I do love katara and sokka as a representation of how Indigenous people can be written in a fantasy setting and it was nice to have something like that in a childhood that was spent consuming a lot of media set in fantastical worlds. however I think if those are the only fictional Indigenous characters you can name, especially like as an adult, you should really make an effort to also engage with stories that portray real Indigenous people and cultures in the real world
If you're looking for some historical perspectives or more analytical Indigenous perspectives around the world, here are a few I've learned a lot from.
Note that some of this isn't strictly limited to a media analysis perspective but it's still important for a non-fictional and historical perspective too.
If others, especially Indigenous than me have issue with any sources listed, please feel free to let me know. Also note that some of the videos and documentaries explicitly touch on genocide, forced separation and child scoops, etc.

@gazavetters Vetted List lists Ahmed and his family at #740.
Happy (belated) 32nd birthday, Ahmed. I hope you know how much you've done to help the Palestinian people. I might not have any money, but I shall always do my best to spread your hard work and the words of others.
Wishing you a happy Juneteenth! I wanted to say that I'm glad that our paths have crossed. I know tackling media analysis and doing deep dives into societal issues is often hard and thankless work, but I wanted to express once again that I've learned a lot from your resources. You've enriched my online experience in many ways, and I greatly appreciate your presence 😁
I appreciate you as always too. It's nice knowing doing this makes a difference for people, so happy to keep going.
