Related to the previous post, but I was watching a review on the Starfox remake and the reviewer was talking about how they would like the franchise to be modernized by making it open world. I do not know when modernization became associated with being open world but not every fucking game on this planet has to be open world. Starfox benefits from very tight and thoughtful level design it does not need to be open world. I'm not some kind of gerbil that needs one million things to check off on a map like put me on a fucking rail and lead me through the game in a meaningful way.

Every once in a while my TotK critical posts go around again. I've more or less gotten over it at this point like yeah, that game is what it is. However, one thing that always gets to me is that even if it told a story that I fundamentally didn't like, the way it handled its characters and the story's stakes just suck so bad and that will forever piss me off. I put 175 hours of my life into that game and the only things I retain from it is: game very pretty, my wife very pretty, story makes me mad. People will talk about things that happen to some characters and npcs and I'll be like "really? I don't remember, maybe I skipped it" and no I did not skip it it just left that little of an impression on me because that moment was buried between one million other Tasks To Be Done For The Sake Of Doing Tasks. And when a game doesn't care about continuity or being consistent with its own lore it just gives really little incentive for me to care about it. Also, truly, what I dislike the most that came out of AoI/TotK is everyone doubling down on Ganondorf being this flat one note villain that is the second coming of Satan. Slapping all of you.

What I would like is a canon game where Ganondorf’s eyes are brown. He’d look so cute with brown eyes…

I do think it is hilarious when people online will genuinely see you as a morally compromised person for having Ganondorf as a favorite character, or a character you can relate to. No, me liking Ganondorf doesn't mean I am easily influenced by fascist or nationalist propaganda, but I do hope he continues to plague your mind as a boogieman I guess, that would make him very happy 😈
