Captive Prince is a story that follows two princes, Laurent and Damen. Laurent and Damen have drastically different lives. I need y'all to know that. Their countries ideas of sex are drastically different. I need y'all to know that.

These books are not erotica because the "sex" y'all talk about is not sex until the very very end of the second book and the third book goes into what sex is. The "sex" in the first book and through the second book until the end, is rape.

C.S. Pacat did not write the first book and the second book to be some harem fantasy, he (C.S. Pacat is bigender and uses she/her and he/him pronouns) wrote it to show what sex can and cannot be and how, when abused for political reasons, what that would be. What she was trying to say was that sex is inherently political. Sex is political. I need y'all to know that.

Captive Prince is not smut or erotica, it's calling you out for thinking you were ever safe in how you express your body unless you get rid of the fucking system.

Laurent thinks someone would have to be made of stone not to want Damen

He wants Damen

He is worried Damen doesn't understand that he wants him

If only in that moment, he isn't afraid of making himself vulnerable to Damen and reminding him that he's soft flesh, not hard stone

And in reminding Damen of this, he's asking to be treated gently, even as, we learn later, he was expecting not to be

When reading this I want people to also think about how both these character grew from tragic dark gritty characters into trusted Batfamily members around the same time as the other. 

Starting with Battle for the Cowl.  When Jason came back and was trying to take over the Batman mantle he shot Damian when Damian and Dick were pursuing him.  It wasn’t fatal and Damian was up and about the next issue but it was still quite severe.

Before anyone says anything, honestly Jason very clearly puts up a front of being dangerous to the bats but if he’d wanted Tim or Damian dead they would have died, Jason had his chances and he didn’t take them.

Next, when we get to Dick and Dami’s run of Batman and Robin they meet Jason again.  The exchange between Damian and Jason shows that Damian knows all about Jason’s past and Jason actually likes Damian’s attitude.

Dick continues to tell Damian to be careful around Jason but Damian being Damian doesn’t care.

Then Damian gets shot again by an enemy saving Jason’s life.  That’s when Jason get’s taken by the police.  Jason could have gotten away but he’d stayed and talked to Dick.  The important thing here is Damian also heard Jason’s confessions to Dick.

Damian, who continuously is trying to change into a better person, even after doing a lot of horrible things in the past, would obviously relate to Jason’s feelings.  Especially since he’s seeking Dick’s approval right now, as well as thinking that Bruce is dead and that he’ll never get his.

Damian recovers from his very extensive injuries and then when he finally meets the Joker he beats him with a crowbar.

Two: The Pearls, upon understanding this was a symbolic moment in at least one Wayne’s future [and two Wayne’s end], chose to disregard their quality for the sake of a Dramatic Tableau.

Three: no more then three pearls ever snapped off the strand, but to a boy watching his mother choke on her own blood, gasping his name into the suddenly silent night, three pearls was enough.

Four: an opportunistic officer slipped the pearls off Marthas neck as she was loaded into the morgue van, figuring Bruce would not have the wherewithal to miss them. The pearls were subsequently reported as lost, having probably rolled down the drain in the following chaos. Only three were ever recovered, having become stuck in the puddle of blood that was under Martha Wayne’s head.

Five: the pearls, a set Thomas Wayne picked up as an engagement gift and a promise when Wayne industries was collapsing and his fortune nonexistent, were fake, and Martha adored them far more then any of the expensive jewels he was eventually able to afford. She made a habit of wearing them on family outings. Martha died for the sentimental value of a $100 set you could pick up at Macy’s.

The fact is that it stands out.” Raoul: “You mean to say that he’s making a pass at Mimea?” Orphe: (Heard from the display) “…No. It would seem that the opposite is the case.” Raoul: “No way… You’re joking.” Orphe: (Heard from the display) “I suppose it can be said that… it’s unfortunate. Well, the arrogant and irreverent slum mongrel being pursued by a purebred who knows no fear, it’s a spectacle in its own way.” Raoul: “Are you certain of it?” Orphe: (Heard from the display) “Normally, I wouldn’t bring up something so intrusive, however, you have formally submitted a pairing request. If possible, I would like to avoid unnecessary trouble.” Raoul: “I understand. I will deal with it.” Orphe: “Alright. Well then, later.” Raoul: (Internally) ‘Mimea and the slum mongrel? (Groans lightly) It’s a joke that can’t even be laughed at.’
