Calling All IronQrow Writers!! We need you!

Birds of a Feather is looking for writers to help us build out the IRONQROW route for our upcoming Qrow-centric visual novel game.

While our game supports the playing of multiple Qrow-based ships, the ship-selection will allow the player to choose and follow a singular ship’s story through the eyes of Qrow, as he recounts his past that led him to get (or fail to get) together with the selected love interest.

What is the game going to be about?

The game will be a Qrow Branwen ship-centric visual novel, where you help narrate Qrow’s story about finding a (hopefully great) romance with one (1) of seven (7) available ship choices: Summer Rose, Taiyang Xiao Long, Ozpin, James Ironwood, Clover Ebi, Winter Schnee or Roman Torchwick. The stories will be non-compliant with canon but will take place in the canonical universe that is Remnant with all of its customs and history.

What platform(s) will it be available on?

We’re aiming to release the game on PC, iPhone and Android devices!

Where can I find the game?

Once the game is complete, you’ll be able to download it from Steam!

How much will the game cost?

The game will be Free To Play! Since we do not own any of the RT copyrights to create this fan game, our team is 100% volunteer based! If you would like to support us, we will have a place for you to donate to our team members upon game launch!

When will the game be released?

We currently do not have a set release date. Please check back for updated information on a release date!

What if I don’t like a ship? Do I have to play all the ship routes?

Each ship route is a stand-alone story. You do NOT have to play any ship route that you don’t like!

What positions on the team are available?

We’re currently accepting applicants for all positions (writers and artists) but would really love some more artists! Please check our Tumblr posts for updates on specific positions needing to be filled!

I’m an artist and would love to join. Do I have to have a specific style?

Art styles do not have to be the same for it to work and be included in our VN, though the visuals within each ship will be roughly consistent. Our goal is to make our game as immersive as possible to the players while also honoring and respecting the creative freedom and integrity of our fellow contributors.

I’m a writer and I would love to help shape the story. Do I have to have a specific writing style or format?

Each ship team consists of multiple writers with a team lead. You do not have to have a specific writing style, but be sure you’re comfortable working with a group of writers and following your team lead’s instructions! Your welcome to write however you’d like, though the format for the story will have to follow a specific VN style guideline to hand off to our programmers!

I’m interested in helping program the game. What platform are you using and what do I need to know?

We’re utilizing RENPY as our base to program this VN. Our lead developers have a combined experience in VN programming and general programming. If you have used RENPY or Python before, you’re welcome to apply! 

Hi Anon. :D That's a good question. In a team leader meeting, our team leaders and assistant team leaders decided to have the art presented in such a way that accomdates varying art styles while minimizing visual differences. So art styles do not have to be the same for it to work and be included in our VN. One of our main points decided early on was that the visuals within each ship be roughly consistent to provide the players with a more immersive experience. For example, we decided that within each ship route, one artist/art style be used for the lineart of the character sprites/pictures, while other artists could color the sprites as the visual differences in coloring are minimal when compared to the lineart. Our goal is to make our game as immersive as possible to the players while also honoring and respecting the creative freedom and integrity of our fellow contributors.
