this is the guy making all your crinkle fries at the factory
merry christmas eve to this post only
this is how they killed jesus
Every day i think about those black musicians whose songs were made into covers by white people and now everyone thinks that these are the originals. Youtube comment sections are full of people like "is this what it feels like to find out you're adopted?" instead of celebrating and promoting the original creators of the songs.
Gloria Jones - Tainted Love
Little Eva - Loco-Motion
Martha & The Vandellas - Dancing in the Streets
James Ray - I've Got My Mind Set On You
Big Mama Thornton - Hound Dog
Robert Knight - Everlasting Love
Erma Franklin - Piece of My Heart
The Family - Nothing Compares 2 U (written by Prince)
The Supremes - You Can't Hurry Love
The Supremes - Keep Me Hanging On
The Top Notes - Twist and Shout
Lord Creator - Kingston Town
The Paragons - Tide is High
Commodores - Easy
And here's an entire playlist with songs by black artists covered by The Rolling Stones:

The most difficult test of my self-control I’ve ever encountered
daily reminder that Mormonism absolutely deserves every bit of mockery it gets and then some. i have sympathy for kids born into that cult trying to escape it, but the religion itself was created within living memory to justify racism and polygamy and im not going to get shamed into walking on eggshells around it
joseph smith quite literally believed black people were cursed by god you fucking imbecile
The fucked up thing here is that y'all are both right.
In the 1830s in the lead up to the Mormon War, Joseph Smith and Mormonism in general was simultaneously anti-black, and anti-slavery.
Joseph wasn't an idiot, he was an extremely component cult leader, and knew that he could gain a lot of followers by preaching a theology of liberation and anti-slavery in free states, and in slave states he could get the thing every Christian cult desires more than life itself: persecution.
He was also racist as all hell. His theological position that "black people could pray hard enough to become white people" was part of why he was so anti-slavery, because if you can just one day decide to stop being black, that could mean one day you'd have a bunch of enslaved white people on your hands and boy would that be uncomfortable.
The shit he was pulling in Missouri in the 1830s is what gave us the Mormon war, the only martial action specifically and intentionally against a religious group by the American government. (And also the Wikipedia article most of the information here is from if y'all wanna read up)
