what do you think of uzi and N blushing sometimes?
I loveeeee when they blush they're so cute, though it's funny because Uzi's the one who does it more frequently, and with N it's actually few and far between? I reckon it's because Uzi's more embarrassed about showing feelings for anyone... and her blushing betrays her haha.
With N, he actually doesn't have much an issue with that. Like, he doesn't outright admit he likes her until the end, but he's got no problem showing affection verbally and physically basically... from episode 1 when he just picks her up when she stumbles and puts her on his shoulders.
And I actually personally think it's because this is just the way he is with others platonically (see also: him gently catching Rebecca and holding her in place) and because of that (and my personal autism headcanon as well, hehe) I think it's not all that unlikely he didn't even realize Uzi had a crush on him until much later on. The whole prom thing reads that way to me.
I mean, Uzi was having a hard time choking out what was essentially her asking him to prom, and his excited response was "dapper buddies!"
and I truly adore the emotional energy it gave knife dance, where N doesn't seem to even realize he's making his best friend fall for him in real time
She blushes when she sees his injury and quietly tells him not to get hurt for her again, and his emotional response seemed to just be along the lines of, what else are friends for? (Besides going to prom together and dancing and taking blades to the chest for eachother? Friend activities!)
I wouldn't change a thing about any of it. N wasn't looking for another girl to fawn over after being pushed away by V, he wanted, and needed, an actual friend. It's the first thing he saw in her and every ounce of his tenderness and protection came from the bottom of his heart, handmade for Uzi, rather than any sort of infatuation or idealization.
Uzi fell first and while it includes the friendship she formed with him the same way, he was something extra special to her--someone that really, truly wanted her in a way no one else (not even her own dad, from her perspective) ever did, in any kind of way. No one ever cared about her feelings, except N. No one believed in her, except N. Khan shut the door on her, N, even in that brutal moment, reconsidered and went on to protect her from V and J when they showed up. Its unsurprising she wanted to keep him as more than a friend.
It's so very cute, cuter than if they were just flirting by episode 2 and having a full on romance scene in 3. And I think it really speaks to their characters the way their feelings developed... Uzi is bold and spontaneous, N is patient and gentle
