Icebound Thoughts

1) The egg theory

Jax and egg symbolization has been used so much throughout the series and to those who don't know a egg in transgender terms means a person who has not realized or accepted their gender identity. 

In episode 6 Jax says oddly specific lines of not being a egg, in ep 8 the torture scene shows his skin being ripped off and beneath his skin looks like an inside of a egg, in ep 7 although I don't speak Chinese people throughout the internet has confirmed words are written like "egg" or "pain", and in ep 9 credits there is an image of a turned egg with question marks surrounding it. While some of these may be a reach there's just so many small hints surrounding eggs to be only a coincidence.

2) Struggle with masculinity

Jax has struggled with being and trying to perceive himself as masculine while being insecure over feminine things

In ep 5 Jax claimed what connected him to being a male is revealed to not be there (he does later conjure a tail to appear masculine), in ep 5 he is obviously very insecure being in a maid outfit, In ep 9 he says something along the lines of "when I was weak I was seen as less of a man", throughout the show he pushes the idea of liking "manly" things like chaos and violence then hating feminine things.

I used to believe these pushed the transmasc theory but sometimes closeted transgender people will push there assigned by birth gender roles to convince others/themselves that they are not trans, cope with the fact they could be different, and Jax is already known for putting on a mask/persona to cope being in the circus and as a self defense mechanisms.

3) Gooseworx posts and self insert

For those who do not know Gooseworx is a transgender woman and has said many times of Jax being her self insert. While him being a self insert doesn't mean Jax is an exact copy of her (I doubt Goose has thrown somebody out of a moving truck before) Jax being trans would make sense with the countless other proof.

There are statements made by Goose hinting at him struggling with things linked to femininity. To add on, Goose has drawn fem/crossdressing images of Jax or him taking progesterone.

And these posts kinda feel like Goose disagreeing with Transmasc Jax

4) Zooble and Jax conversations/insults

Jax has made many jokes on Zoobles queer identity like lesbian stereotype, saying "they turn straight" (okay that joke was funny), and referring to Zooble being "gender freaky" in ep 9 but Zooble has also made discreet hits or advice to Jax possibly being queer

In ep 5 Zooble has Jax put into a maid dress claiming he would be into it and previously that episode there is a very brushed off scene but Zooble says Jax would know all about hiding. What stood out to me was in ep 7 Zooble goes to Jax and ends up talking about feeling comfortable in their own body along with saying "talking to people helps their struggles" (in this context it's about body dysphoria and gender) Jax does end up rejecting this claiming he has no problems but still a very interesting choice of conversation and characters if Jax is meant to be cis.

5) What Jax fears

Going back to the torture scene we see a glimpse of what Jax is scared of

This scene shows shadowed figures of Pomni, Ribbit, and Kaufmo people who Jax pushed away and cared for. These figures are ripping off Jax's skin and laughing (to note Ribbit is ripping Jax by the ears which is "the pinnacle of masculinity") Jax is left peeled away, defenseless, while being made fun of (in episode 9 Jax says his Mom laughed at him and ridiculized him for sharing something personal) Jax's fear is that if his true self is revealed it will leave him vulnerable and the people who he loves will laugh and hurt him

6) Episode 9 in general

Before ep 9 I believed that Transfem Jax was more of an interpretation or a headcanon but after seeing The Last Act twice in theaters its really right there in your face

In ep 9 Ribbit and Jax open up about what happened in the real world while Ribbit shares about her mormon household, Jax shares his relationship with his parents. He talks of how he was never close w/ his father and after the divorce his mother took her anger out on him. Jax told his mother "smth deep and personal" to hopefully help their relationship but instead his mother laughs at him and uses "personal degrading insults" His mother ends up hugging him but Jax pushes her away harming and possibly killing her. Jax comes back to reality and stresses about over sharing but Ribbit calms him down. After this Ribbit puts her bow on his head saying "your secret is safe with me" Honestly this was the main takeaway because putting the bow on him making him look feminine and him telling something deep and personal to his mother put together makes sense. Though it was not stated and we don't know the details Jax somewhat came out to his mother of feeling like a girl and Ribbit understands.

I've seen so many people saying the "isn't she lovely" montage is about Funnybunny but I do disagree because all those scenes that have Pomni in it Jax is the one being centered and at the end of the edit it is just scenes of Jax. The song Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder is about the birth of a beautiful little girl and wouldn't make sense if it was referring to Pomni. This scene refers to Jax as SHE while singing about the metaphoric rebirth of Jax accepting who she truly is.

I don't usually make posts like this and I really hope this somewhat makes sense because I can suck at wording my thoughts but I really wanted to just put it out in front of me.
