It might... be this? (Other than the Foreigner - I Want to Know what Love Is bit)
Edit: oh wait yeah I'm silly, I could've checked the credits!
(it is in fact the linked song)
I was curious about the lyrics for this suddenly, granted this is Google translate so might not be perfect but:

Angel with a railgun!!!
so
first actual post on here
not sure what i am doing
i drew this Hello this is my art And i think i should post it Here
And theres More
Okay
I have been away all weekend and not checking the MD tag here so idk if anyone has pointed this out yet... But I've off-handedly seen a bunch of discussion crossing my path talking about how this ending scene takes place in the pilot, but I don't think it does!
This isn't Uzi's original railgun. Her original railgun has stickers and a keychain, as seen in the pilot:
I think the ending is actually skipping to the present day in the canon, and what is happening is Uzi is approaching the spire and has her weapon on her in case she needs it.
I'm really not sure here because, while the mouth stuff is impossible to see here (to me) due to how mouths used to be rendered in the pilot, the eye movement/coordination that Meet J's Uzi exhibits before she starts walking into the spire is pretty similar to how Pilot's Uzi pulls it off when she gets closer herself.
They both have a third-person shot at where they are looking at (though the distance is different), look to the side, furrow their brow at whatever they are looking at (likely another corpse), and start walking.
Here are the scenes (hopefully properly timestamped) for comparison's sake:
Though, the modeling stuff is pretty odd, both for N & Uzi (to the point that people thought it took place after the finale because of the pilot emblem), so who really knows.
You raise very good points about the details. One thing I feel is for certain here is I think Glitch likely intended this to be ambiguous (I think it's not even impossible the inconsistencies were deliberate too as not to be obvious, ie the purple eyes vs railgun missing stickers/keychain)
The scene is so close to being a 1:1. You're correct about the staging, and the movements, and also the mouth being pretty much impossible to see in the original lol
I feel like... There are some ever so slight differences in eyes (the brow/lids) and head movement. In the Meet J version, I'm reading her eyes as looking a little more .. determined? Resolved? And the last movement of her head is looking more straight forward, like she's walking boldly towards an objective she's still kind of unsure about the unsureness is investigative. Whereas ep 1, her eyes are reading to me more uncertain, a little on edge, and she's still looking off to the side and down a bit when she proceeds forward. She's looking for something that would be on the ground after all in addition to kind of watching her back.
And then I think the distance from the corpse spire being different is notable. In ep 1, this "looking around" happens after she's entered the spire and we see the pod. In Meet J, she hasn't yet entered. "Looking around" happens in front of the spire, and that's all we see, as the view inside the spire is dark/obscured.
To so carefully remake the original scene complete with near-matching head movements.. but drastically change the scenery...it feels like a deliberate choice. If it was meant to be episode 1, the question is "why don't we see Uzi enter the spire and see the pod as normal?", there's no answer other than arbitrary artistic choice, I reckon? If it's meant to be a new scene where Uzi approaches the spire we ask the same question, there's a lot of potential answers, like "the pod's not there", "it's completely trashed", "J is already outside it waiting", "J is dead *family guy death pose*", etc, which essentially means we're not yet meant to see what's actually inside the spire. Worth bearing in mind, we haven't seen present day J at all (barring the credits scene, but I'm now talking post-music vid minisode which takes place iirc around a year later?), so not yet seeing what's there is still keeping her status entirely mystery.
I'm not 100% confident on any of this, I wouldn't put money down if asked haha. But I think it's plausible. Also to copypasta a way I put my perspective from my other blog in some a comment section somewhere:
The way I narratively interpreted it the first time I watched it, before noticing the details about the gun or the lack of eye gradient and then weighing potential animation errors as a factor, I interpreted it like it had jumped to present day Uzi walking to the spire, based on the note J's monologue ends on, Uzi's expression and body language being investigative and pensive (definitely not the way she looked in the ep 1 scene), and the way the story flows nicely as reintroducing J with more about her side of the story to sympathize with and get to know her as a person more, before the (hypothetical) next part of finally seeing what happened to her and how her story will be resolved (and if that resolution is to reunite her with her team, preluding that with J's story about how that's what she /wanted/ all along is a good segue and, well, reason to root for her despite her role as an antagonist).
So after taking into consideration the inconsistencies, I feel like standing by my original interpretation, as it is a more compelling ending (to me), and (if I were to assume the animation /was/ as intended, which, when speculating and interpreting media, is probably the more sensible assumption unless there's a confirmation of animation error, or it's something blatantly obviously from a technical standpoint like clipping) Uzi's eye color being mutable present day makes more sense than retroactively changing the design of her original gun.
And so, yeah, my personal viewpoint, at least for the time being! I think this is all very mysterious on purpose and just as much as I think something Major is going on with J I don't think it's impossible to see her again and she's just like. Normal and like, hey dumb idiots (I think it would be kinda funny though after all the suspense)
new j special has given me a great interpretation of the disassembly drones' absolutely wretched dynamic
not khan eating up this polaroid picture and j believing he’s a genius
like of course j would admire/ appreciate his commitment to his doors

AU where J joins the crew and does silly things with them
Признаться честно, я в последнее время охладела к дронам, но недавно вышел спешл про Джей и у меня просто появилась идея для арта + у меня душевное состояние сейчас не очень, поэтому хотелось что-то такое нарисовать
To be honest, I’ve kind of lost interest in Murder Drones lately, but a special about J came out recently and I just got an idea for some art—plus, I’m not in a great headspace right now, so I felt like drawing something like this
