âWhoâs there?â Ellie called out, turning on her heel. She had managed to sneak out into the garden in the dark but she had expected to be alone and she could have sworn she heard something just now.

âYou need any help over there?â Jessica called out gently as she came round the corner and spotted them.
âYou know you canât sneak out this late at night right? I have to report you if I caught ANYONE people this late .. outsideâŚbut iâm pretty sure we can come up with a REASONABLE plan or arrangement that works for the both of us â
How long had it been since sheâd experienced an episode? Months, maybe? Weeks at the very least. Noah thought she was getting better, cured even, of the ghost that followed her room to room after the accident. Yet, here she was again, squeezing a half-empty ensure shake in one hand and staring down the bloody face of her best friend. The thin blonde stood in the center of the empty cafeteria, staring down the mangled shadow afore her.Â
âYouâre not fucking real,â Noah tried, swallowing thickly. This, of course, didnât dissuade Gracie, as it never would. Instead, the whispering began.Â
âsilly, stupid girl. where are all your friends? thatâs right. one abandoned you, one got better, and one found somebody else to love. isnât it so sweet to see two lovers reunited?â a sick, twisted smile tugged at her former friendâs lips. âi guess itâs just you and me now, huh bunny? youâll always have meâŚâ
Noah spun on her heel and clenched her fist around the shake, teeth grinding and knuckles turning white. Her mantra of ânot realâs and âall in your headâs rattled on in her mind, though they did nothing as the apparition continued to taunt her.Â
âyouâre sick! you were always born to be sick. come on, bunny, be sicker. youâre too pathetic to âget betterâ. look at you. youâre disgusting, repulsive - it should have been you on the road. he should have let you bleed out when he had the chance-â
âShut the fuck up, Grace!â The shout ripped through Noahâs throat roughly as she twisted back around. By the time she was forward facing again, the figure was gone, but the narcissist had already hurled her shake towards the wall, watching as it splattered over the floor.
For a moment, she looked around herself, stunned. Then, the presence of someone in the doorway caught her attention, and without looking up, Noah cleared her throat. âWhat the hell are you looking at?â

lacy was drawing with new crayons!!! someone had taken her picture for a blurb about breielle awhile back, and some old lady had seen it and donated a set of crayons for the sweet little girl who liked to draw. it was a bright point in an otherwise miserable post-chemo few days. she was smiling, coloring away. it would be a shame not to use such a nice present, after allâŚ
âdoes you want a picture that looks like yous?â the little blonde suggested to the person who had just entered.

Maeve felt restless today. Since waking up from a brief hour of sleep, she couldnât shake the insects the crawled along her muscles and the electricity that burned her nerves. Several nurses and patients had gained the brunt of her irritation, and her mood tracker was filled boxes of purple, red and orange. Because she was angry and annoyed but she didnât know why.
The only thing that offered a distraction was using a selection of her markers to mark scribbles on wall down the hall. She sat on the floor, leaning close to the plaster and watching the colours mark the textures surface. She had covered a fairly large area, but she was more then content to carry on

John was having a bit of a down day. Emotionally, that is. Heâd been up all night, his mind tormenting him with memories of his family. It was torture and he hadnât been able to lift himself out of the fog when heâd had to get up and go about his day. He was sitting in some random empty room with the door open, skimming a book but not really taking in the words. His gaze lifted when he heard shuffling at the door and he realised he was no longer alone. âSorry, did you want the room?â

âSorry⌠what was that?â Cassidy asked, turning her head as she finally registered the other person speaking behind her. She had completely zoned out into some pretty spiraling thoughts and it was hard to pull herself out of them completely.

sheâs looking through all of the paperwork sheâs been given. her irritation is definitely mounting, but she keeps trying to remain positive. she wants to go home. her body collides with the couch in the rec room, and she tries to figure out how she can fake being better to just go. â sorry, did i interrupt somethingââ
âSo, I have a crazy idea and I just want to tell someone because I think with enough support, we can make it happen.â
âIf you come anywhere near me, I will throw up on your. Please, stop. I donât care if youâre not doing anything just stop.âÂ
Itâs funny how different a place can feel when youâve chosen to hide in your room for weeks on end. Aislynn had had depressive episodes before, but nothing compared to the feeling of worthlessness and self-neglect that the last 3 weeks had brought about. If it werenât for the nurses bringing her food here and there, she probably would have wasted away. She wondered if she even had any right to be in in the rec room anymore as she quietly sank down into the couch.

This was the last place she wanted to be again. There was approximately 0% of Tasha that wanted to open this door, to go back to her shitty little room, with her shitty little body, doing shitty little things to sabotage itself because, God forbid, we might stay healthy if we didnât. Bag in hand, Tasha took one last deep breath, and pushed open her door. What she didnât expect, was for a person to be sitting on her bed.

After dealing with a feeling of anxiety and unease for at least a year now, Leo thought he was relatively used to that horrible pit in the bottom of his stomach. The tight knots and nausea when absolutely nothing was warranting those feelings. However, once he arrived at Brielle, those feelings felt like they were at least three times more intense. Strangers were everywhere, he didnât know where anything was, he didnât know who was known for being kind and who he should be extra cautious around⌠and it wasnât like he could ask anyone. The very thought of producing any sound from his mouth made him feel sick to his stomach. It even made him feel dizzy and lightheaded⌠He was trying to relax, practice breathing exercises and positive self talk or whatever, in the rec room. However, people were coming in and out, they were talking over each other, nurses and guards were watching, and there was absolutely no way Leo could calm himself down with so much going on. He needed someplace quiet⌠Without anyone around.Â
It was in that moment when he remembered a staff member saying something about a music room. Did it have a piano? He thought he remembered them saying something about a piano⌠and guitars, right? Where was it⌠fuck why couldnât he remember where they said it was? The boy got up in a hurry and walked to the hallway, hoping heâd magically walk up to the room. However, the hallway just felt like it was never ending, and all he saw were closed doors that appeared to be offices. Eyes frantically looking from one door to the next, it was clear that he was not paying any attention or noticed the person walking towards him. It was only when he walked directly in their path and collided with them had he realized they were there. The boy stumbled back, eyes wide in shock. He wanted to say sorry.. He wanted to make sure they were alright. God dammit, why couldnât he say a simple sorry? Instead he just stared at the person for a few seconds in pure panic. After that painfully awkward and stressful encounter, Leo gave up on trying to apologize and started to continue walking down the hall in search for the music room. ( @bhqstarter )

Elliot was talking to his dad with one of the phones by the nurses station. He hadnât made many phone calls since heâd been at Brielle, but he figured he should, as it was Motherâs day. He and his dad would always plan together about how to surprise Elliotâs mom with elaborate gifts and celebrations⌠As Elliot got older, and as his parents got more and more wrapped up in work, the planning and celebrations lessened in intensity each year⌠but they were always there. And now it was the first motherâs day without a mother to celebrate for. âSorry, umâ I know itâs kind of⌠weird for me to call you, but um⌠I dunno, I know itâs motherâs day and all, and I just⌠I donât know.â He spoke quietly, almost in a whisper, to his dad. His voice was tired, and his eyes were already watering with tears.Â
He was on the phone for fifteen minutes before the nurse nearby was telling him to wrap it up. By that point, Elliot hadnât done much talking at all. He was just answering in one to two word responses, sometimes just a âmhmâ. The more he spoke, the more evident it was that he was crying, and he didnât want his dad to know that⌠he didnât want his dad to worry. He tried so hard to stop himself from crying, but every time his dad said something like âhang in thereâ or âiâm proud of youâ or âI love youâ, the tears would just intensify, and it began to become harder and harder to breathe with each positive affirmation. How could his dad say that? How could his dad love him when he was the reason for her death? Elliot believed, with all his heart, that his dad should hate him. That he should despise him. Everything inside was screaming, telling himself that he didnât deserve his fatherâs love.Â
Elliot and his dad exchanged their goodbyeâs, and his slowly hung up the phone back on the wall with shaky hands. He took a moment to try to compose himself, drying his tears and rubbing his eyes, before turning his chair around to see someone standing nearby. âUh⌠Sorry,â He started in a hushed and weak voice. âDid you uhâ wanna use this, or?â Elliot nodded his head towards the phone, indicating that was what he was asking about.
