"don't move." that serves as the only warning nora gives, brows furrowed, concentration clear on her expression as she marks certain measurements, chalk in hand as she grips onto fabric currently laid across the taller males frame. despite her newfound status as a trainee, noras academics still persist as a priority. she's in her final year, and with winter midterms nearing, the need for creativity and inspired creations has yet to let up— conceptual sketches, mock-ups, and proper final products are needed in order to gauge proper progress. who better to ask for assistance in this scenario than minsoo, tall and lean, willowy in all the right ways. currently, noras current actions are an attempt at a first fitting, looking to see what needs to be altered, not only for comfort but also for aesthetics.
"i haven't told my teachers the news," nora remarks offhandedly, leaning away from the leg she'd been marking for further adjustments. "i've never been fond of others knowing the details when it comes to my personal business, and training doesn't look like it'll interfere with my class schedules." thus far, that statement has hold true. while she's only been with lime for a little under a month, balancing her time hasn't been too much of an issue, even with her reduced hours at work. "i just hate how . . . up in the air everything's going to be for the time being." nora isn't sure why she's being so honest, but minsoo is someone she trusts, so that must speak for something.
glancing upwards, nora continues. "lift your arms— i need to make sure the length is just right."
"where's the humble pie for dessert?" ara asks with a sly brow that moves upwards, but she's not being serious. they've playfully bickered about this before, and ara never means it. if anyone would pick between the two of them, nora would always be the more personable, friendly and adored one for sure. ara comes across as... too serious, in her own opinion. and while fully aware, she does not want to change it at all. so far, its done her well in life... so no complaints. "cheat day, cheat week. it'll be... fine."
"oh look! they have some specials, aghhh. it really was a good day to come today," ara wrinkles her nose, looking at her bank account through her app before putting it away, nodding in agreement with nora's rant. "honestly, we need raises. where is the minimum raise? at least food is rather affordable here. i hear things are crazy overseas... guess no vacations and only staycations when we finally get around to them." she hums, contemplative. "i usually end up staying later than i'd like in order to get that 'time back', even though i am making myself more exhausted. guess it does not really work. auditions, job-hunting. although i do like this job, i just don't know if i want something that rakes in more...hours." their turn comes around and ara instinctively leans towards 'today's special pastry'. "we'll... also order one of the regulars in case this doesn't turn out well," ara sighs. along with their drink order, the waitress said they'd bring it to them after taking a number and a seat. "oh, goodie. a window seat is still open. come!"
"i haven't given much thought into job hunting, not since being hired at the studio," nora muses, mind momentarily wondering as she thinks back to the first day she'd stepped into her title as an instructor. from the start, nora had known the studio wouldn't be a forever thing, and the hours worked well for the limited availability she had, so she'd seen no reason to disrupt the carefully curated flow she's worked hard in crafting for herself. now, however, nora can't help but let her mind wander more often— she was due to graduate in the next year, internships and proper work prospects glinting off in the distance, and with the number of acquaintances seemingly being scooped up by talent agencies left and right . . . maybe it was time for nora to start devising her next course of action. "it's been nice, but it won't last forever. not for me, anyway."
by now, ara has long since learned noras tastes, so the extra delicacies the other girl asks for do no harm in noras book. she's always enjoyed trying new things at least once ( so long as they weren't inherently gross or dangerous ), so she's content. "today's special sounds interesting, but the taste better be worth it, otherwise you're going to have to finish it all yourself." again, nora is teasing, a singular brow raised for a moment before her lips stretch into an easy grin. dutifully, nora makes herself comfortable under the almost completely set sun still peaking through the window they now sit in front of, their drinks thankfully coming quickly. "this place is normally so packed despite being pretty hidden, i'm happy we can actually enjoy ourselves in peace."
a lover of all things eccentric, noras interests have always aligned well with halloween, the moodier atmosphere being a rather unlikely source of energy and inspiration. people watching, as a simple pastime, has never felt dull, eyes scanning lone individuals as they pass by for a mere moment before fading into the ether, noras gaze trailing them diligently for notable silhouettes and garment choices— surrounded now by ghouls, witches, and all other creatures under the creative sun, nora finds herself enjoying this company run party more than she'd been expecting to.
the prospect of candy collecting? nora has long since phased out of that, but, as they say . . . do as the romans do.
keeping to herself will do her no good, especially in this setting, nor does it sound all too appealing. so, as trainees scatter around the space, little bags filled with treats to varying degrees at the mercy of the senior artists, nora does the same with an easy grin across her fanged lips.
for the most part, it's all easy, simple as she traverses the space alongside others in her positions, introductions and fleeting words exchanged as one meeting chases the other. while uncaring as to just how many treats she'll be able to collect by the end of the evening, nora cares greatly for the number of seniors she can confidently say she's introduced herself to, brief as to not hog time from others, but significant nonetheless.
that is what she finds to be the most enjoyable; conversations and connections that will showcase herself positively as a newbie.
the night stretches on, and as noras little bag slowly becomes greater in mass, so do her ambitions. her costume this year might have not been anything grand, but her presence has surely been felt. that much, she is sure of.
when it comes to dressing-up, no matter what the occasion, claudine always makes sure to give it her all. in the first place, her number one policy has always been the mantra of never doing anything half-heartedly, which she applies to everything within her reach. as an avid cosplayer ( and a professional one , might she add, although she assumes she’ll have to put that side job of hers in the back burner now ), she is no stranger to putting forth an elaborate costume with the convincing make-up alongside it. now that she’s aware of the axis halloween party, having become a trainee herself, of course she’d put forth her best. it’s only natural, nothing can stop her from going the extra milestone when the subject matter is anything close to cosplay.
so here she is, the goddess athena, taking a short break from walking around and introducing herself—the new one must always take a dip into networking first after all—to collect a few refreshments for herself. “i doubt the companies would want to deal with a bunch of drunk trainees, especially when there are seniors alongside them. besides, there’s a costume contest, isn’t there? it sounds rather serious, something we have to be… sober for.”
claudine, never shying away from complimenting someone else should there be a need to, smiles at her friend. “your make-up looks beautiful, you have to show me the eyeshadow palette you used!” she insists, paying close attention to the details of nora’s fit—she can’t help it, it’s a habit of hers!
“here and there. i think we’d have a lot more time to mingle once we’re trick or treating. the perfect opportunity to ask for autographs too, apparently. what about you? interested in meeting one of our seniors?” claudine had never been too interested in the idol world, but now that she’s here, she has made an effort to research everything she could about her future, and those that have come before her.
"sober and halloween are two words that've never mixed in my own personal experience, but . . . i guess there is always a first for everything," nora concedes, eyes rolling slightly with an absence of heat. far from labeling herself a party animal ( mainly because nora rarely had the time to allow herself such fun on a regular basis ), nora liked to think she had a healthy balance when it came to both her virtues and vises— never one to overdo things, only partaking in leisure responsibly. so, while only a bit annoyed, it makes sense for a party hosted by axis to be carried out with a certain decorum.
it's all very demure. mindful, even.
while primped and pretty, claudines getup is as detailed and perfect as nora expected it to be, a greek goddess on any given day. having gone with something bordering a bit more stereotypical for the season, noras bouncy bat wings and moody attire are enhanced by the darker, heavier makeup she'd decided to do for the evening. behind red lips sit a surprisingly comfortable set of fangs, perfect to showcase as she gives the other a smile. "you like it? i'm usually not one for heavier looks like this, but i wanted to experiment with this new palette for the evening to balance out the burgundy lenses— we should try it on you sometime, it'd look pretty on you."
taking a sip of her drink, nora lets her gaze wander the room for a moment. "i've spoken to a few people, a handful of staff members who i introduced myself to and a couple of other trainees. none of the senior artists yet but the night is still young." nora was sure, despite all being under one roof for the night, everyone had their own agenda they'd like to try adhering to. to an extent, nora felt the same, but planting the early networking seeds was important. events like this didn't happen every day, so it would be best to make the most of it. "i haven't spotted her yet, but if she'll be here tonight, i'd like to at least greet yuna."

"i do prefer the private noraebang rooms but for a good cause and performance, i'm down for it." after being signed as a new trainee, there is a bit of hesitance of what she did in public but - a good song being recorded cannot be bad. she's pretty much a nobody, but maybe it could count for something in the future. if nothing else, its practice. "yes, need a drink to get in to the mood and that'll give me some time to think of a song to sing too. did you want to... sing something that was actually holiday themed or any old song in general? or is there even an option?" ara tries to crawl through her membrane for some songs that were from spooky-themed shows, but the only thing that comes to mind is the song that Wednesday danced to from the show she didn't even watch. the show got so viral...
there's a song blasting now and it was vaguely familiar to her. if she'll be extremely boring, she could always sing something that someone was already performing earlier. surely nobody would remember. "they decorated everything so nicely though. and all the drinks look to be on theme. i'm not a fan of pumpkin or orange, but i will make an exception for Halloween. but after October 31st, it's all peppermint bark and mariah carey for me."
"chances to come out like this don't happen as often as they should, but i'd suspect our schedules will be better aligned now as i get used to training," nora muses offhandedly, a hum following in her words wake, lips pursed as she flips through the songbook with focused eyes. "let's go with something a little fun to start out with? something to warm us up before we try and tackle anything crazy, but nothing too outrageous . . . oh!" not for the first time, nora finds herself alight with inspiration, a hand reaching out to grip aras arm gently. noras smile grows slightly larger, a brow raised. "what about something from hocus pocus? you know, the song the witches sing at the halloween party— i put a spell on you." something not too outrageous, nora had said . . . who was she kidding.
"we'll have to put our names down, i'm sure it'll be a little bit of a wait." as expected, an activity as interesting as this was bound to pull something of a crowd into the space. it wasn't anything too hectic, thankfully, comfortable for the two of them to maneuver through as vocals sounded around them. "talking about anything christmas related so soon is going to make me crave sugar cookies, let me at least get through my itches for pumpkin and cinnamon."
seojun isn't usually one to end up at a party unless it was one run at the axis building or by a friend. he always felt to awkward especially since he knew he wouldn't be too familiar with everyone there. here he was through, finding his way around and dressed up in a pirate costume. he tried his best to be as unique as possible as well as feel comfortable. he just keeps to himself mostly, being friendly when someone talks to him but finding any chance to sneak away.
sure he's usually found himself training but he's gotten the chance to enjoy halloween alongside the rest of his friends. he's loosening up a bit at least and isn't finding himself jumping at any chance to hide away. he's been in the kitchen way more than he'd like to admit though to at least take a breather for himself. the music was intense at times but he got used to it as the night went on.
though as he's enjoying himself at the party, he feels a tap before hearing a voice behind him. at least he didn't jump at all. he'd never be able to get over that embarrassment. he turns around easily before giving a smile to nora. "hey. been too long since i've seen you." he didn't expect to see too many people he knew here so he's relieved to see nora. "i've been here for a bit. maybe i've been good at hiding amongst the crowd." he laughs a bit.
it's a surprise seeing him here, their paths rarely crossing these days despite having a decent amount of overlap when it came to the circles they ran with, different lives and schedules occupying their time. truthfully, nora can't remember the last time has the chance to have a proper conversation with seojun, so this encounter is one nora doesn't find herself minding. considering the freshly signed contract with her name back at the company building she would now be frequenting alongside him, the shorter supposes now is the perfect time to catch up a little.
"solitary as ever . . . you've been busy, i take it?" nora asks, eyes curious as she slightly leans her side against the kitchen counter comfortably. a word like busy, nora is certain, must be an understatement— despite having only had a brief moment to properly take a look at her future training schedule, it'd not escaped her in just how full days at the company were. "so have i. this is the first party party i've been able to attend in a while outside of anything school or work-related, so i couldn't miss it. who wants to be home for halloween?"
gaze casting itself out onto the sparse flow of people coming in and out of the kitchen as music plays from the other room, nora takes a small sip of her drink. "anything interesting happening? since we last met, at least." was he still a trainee? of that, nora wasn't sure. while company ties had previously mattered little to her due to unaffiliation, nora now was affiliated. she'd like to know who she can expect to see.
nora will always use whatever excuse she can to get all dressed up, makeup impeccably applied with not a single hair on her head out of place, and halloween was certainly no exception. special events, parties, are an immense joy to partake in when ones schedule generally revolves around schooling and work, and now was of particular importance— signing her life away and becoming a trainee, even if only for a few months, meant being shoved to the metaphorical forefront of the entertainment industry ( well, as forward facing as someone undebuted could be, but seen to an extent nonetheless ), and while noras personal feelings were still yet to be fully decided, there was one thing she knew for sure.
she would not let herself look or be perceived as foolish, especially with different trainees and staff members all under one roof for the company halloween party. just a few weeks ago, nora didn't think this was where she'd be, but she's long since learned life can take rather unexpected twists with little warning.
at least she isn't alone.
"it was rather wishful thinking on my part hoping there might be a few drink options with a little more . . . kick to them," nora voices, a brow raised as her gaze scans the mostly unknown crowd. "at least it's actually good punch, not that gross, overly sweetened stuff." sighing lightly as a hand lifts to fix a stray strand of fringe, nora turns to look at claudine, a curious. "have you managed to do any mingling yet? there are a lot more people to get to know than i'd anticipated."
nora hasn't ever found herself passing up an opportunity to party, her carefully curated balance between work and play thrown to the wayside the moment anything of interest in that regard rears it's head, and now is now different— the halloween season was meant to be celebrated in the most flamboyant of fashions with load music bumping into the wee hours of dusk, and nora is no different from the entertained hoard of bodies currently occupying the party space she'd found herself mingling within.
she's paced herself rather well, conversation flowing with ease as she came into contact with somewhat familiar faces as the night dragged on, body weaving back and forth from the dance floor to the kitchens makeshift bar, and not for the first time that night, nora is glad she'd made the time to come out. who knows when she'll have the time again now that she'd signed herself away to lime.
it's as nora bids her time in limbo, floating between the intense beat of music flowing from the main space and the harsh kitchen lights, that yet another familiar face catches her gaze. she hasn't been spotted just yet, her shorter stature doing well to overshadow her frame, so she's sure the sudden tap of her fingers against his arm and the sound of her voice from behind is a bit of a shock, even with how loud everything around them is. "would you look who it is," she starts, a brow raised, lips upturned slightly. "have you been here long? i feel like i'd have seen you by now."
"i mean... we should have probably looked up reviews then before spontaneously doing this." if anything, everyone else looks to be rather engrossed and he's doing his best to keep his voice quiet to not disturb them as the guide is leading them around the path, as they huddle like little school kids on their worst behaviour. "there a few more ways i can think of having fun that didn't have us roaming through a.... really grimey hall?" his sleeve caught onto one of the walls and it must be true what the guide said about this place being abandoned because ew, the amount of dirt that came off on to his already neutral shirt. bad idea. following viral trends or whatever was hip but they were already here. "i could have dressed better for this though."
"i wonder how this tour would do in the day?" minsoo thinks that it might be a good idea to dispell any woes he had if he came back to some of these locations the next day but coming back here willingly? as if! his eyes probably told everything if nora looked at him close enough; and if not, his mouth kept rambling away. "if i grab onto you too tightly or scream, hit me or something and i'll stop. gotta keep my wits or.. sanity, or something-- ack," he mumbles, as one of the other guests walked backwards and bumped into him, narrowing his eyes as he tries to zero in on what the guide was saying - ah yea, definitely about the building having been abandoned for many an eon, and how the people who had been left here were still spiritually present. "i can't imagine moving into a haunted apartment. that.... would be eerie."
"the one time i decide the dive into something without any prior knowledge to prepare myself, and of course, it's something as . . . interesting as this," nora finds herself muttering under her breath, tone dry and low as to not let anyone outside of their direct range hear. it was one thing to talk badly amongst trusted company in private, but it was a while different story when trying to voice thoughts as they came in the moment without directing unwanted heated attention your way. ordinarily, nora cared little about how others viewed her, but she'd like to at least try and keep their excursion from being any more unsettling than it already was. "next time, we can just do something nice and less dirtying like a scary movie marathon."
ordinarily brave and unbothered, there's something about minsoos skittish energy that seems to be getting to her, every minor jostle he makes next to her prompting a minuscule flinch of her own. god, how pathetic they both must look. "let's just hope neither of us gets snagged on any more things— that shirt will clean just fine after a good soak and cold wash, but the second this sweater gets stuck on something, it'll be ruined." it seems they were both out of their element in more ways than one. "realistically, how many haunter apartment complexes could there really be?" noras brows furrow slightly, words flowing quietly as a way of getting the time to pass faster, head tilting slightly to look back to minsoo. "if i found out my complex had a ghost or two, i'd be calling you for moving duty."

"i hope you've been working hard on your vocals, i can't have either of us looking like fools when it's time for our duet," nora jests, tone light and playful as she allows her shoulder to bump gently against areas. it'd been far too long since noras presence last graced that of a noraebang cafe, free moments in her schedule for leisure far and few between, so it'd practically been a no-brainer when deciding on if she'd spare some time to attend the special ones being hosted during this spooky season. things were to start changing soon, her schedule shifting alongside her life, so taking whatever chances granted in order to spend time with her closest friend only felt right.
"i can't remember the last time i came out to sing like this— i think i was with you, but i could be wrong." gaze searching, a satisfied grin rests upon her lips as she spots a rather hefty songbook. reaching for it, nora begins flipping through pages, interests narrowing in on the specially curated page of holiday-themed tunes. "how about we order some drinks and do some warm-up songs? halloween is dreadfully lacking in themed songs compared to christmas, but we'll make due."

"can you believe it cost about $40 for this? it better be good," minsoo mumbles very quietly to nora so that nobody else would hear. sure, he can have rude opinions but that didn't mean everyone had to hear them. only nora. haha! but he's a skeptic. he's never partook in the ghost and dark history tour before, and he's never bode well with those creepypastas or dark stories on youtube and podcasts. ( yes, that's right. he muchly prefers the classics or things about ancient history, not so much this - not an indulgent of his, oh no. ) they'd already begun walking from the train station, which was the meeting area, but minsoo's not sure what they're really supposed to get scared from. but at least there's a small crowd and the pair of them could hear the guide very well. if nothing else, the guide was very engaging. they slowly walk through the gyeonghui palace at night. but walking in this place, nevermind in the dark, was already rather eerie to begin with.
"have the ghosts been spotted before...?" he couldn't help but quip up, as he'd gotten distracted, and fell behind the group before running back up to walk beside nora. he could put up a front about not being freaked, but the truth is he felt a bit of tingling anxiety when he was left behind. ghosts. they'd just left an abandoned school, and minsoo couldn't quite believe that there were ghosts there, he was now beginning to feel some wind on his neck. whispers? no no, just the wind. "damn, i'm a wuss, nora."
"it's a good thing my leisure savings are on the heavier side right now, i'd hate to be out too much for something that might not be worth it . . . my expectations are rather high for this, so if this is anything less than amazing, i'll be more than disappointed," nora responds, delivery just as hushed as minsoos had been, brows furrowed slightly as her gaze wanders atounf the space with acute alertness. she hasn't ever been the easiest to scare, a skeptic in many ways who preferred exercising rational thought when it came to more outlandish events, but there's no denying the way her shoulders seem to tense as the two follow along with the group. so far, if nothing else, nora will say the atmosphere is doing wonders.
"any place can be made to feel and look scarier than it actually is, especially at night, so i don't doubt people have seen something odd before," nora begins, an arm reaching out to grasp at the others arm lightly, keeping him in closer range as to not fall behind again ( and totally not to help keep herself grounded, no— nora was fine. not on edge in the slightest ). "don't work yourself up, we've still got a lot to see—" out of the corner of her eye, nora see something flutter in the distance. her jaw clenches slightly. "god, you're making me nervous now."

auditions have rarely ever been something to fret over, trials and tribulations alike have prepared nora for moments like this tenfold. stood now before studio delta staff, appearance neat and head held high, nora is well aware that first impressions are everything. what she'll be showcasing, of course, would be what truly determines the final outcome, but the initial meeting sets the overall tone for everything.
she doubted a company as straight-laced and strict as this one was rumored to be wanted trainees who lacked in confidence, unable to stand before the masses without a shake to their voice and a sway in their stance. no, nora was sturdy, assured in a way that showed strength.
she was prepared for today, this event being a pleasant change in scenery ( and, perhaps, it'd end up providing her with a permanent departure from the life she currently lived— while generally happy with what she currently had, nora was always striving for more ). her current advances in schooling, alongside the job that'd played a part in polishing her for today's opportunity, were more so stepping stones than they were forever.
nora would not overlook any chance given her way, not when it was clear she was deserving to some extent.
so, as her panel of studio-appointed judges settle into their seats and gaze upon her with expectant eyes, nora begins with her introduction. "good morning everyone, my name is im nora." her voice is light but firm, projecting calmly from where she's stood with an easy smile. "my twenty-first birthday was back in june of this year, and i currently work as a part-time dance instructor when i'm not attending university classes as a full-time student. i'm anticipating graduating with a degree in fashion design next year."
"today, i'll be performing for you all a dance i choreographed myself." nora had spent an ample amount of time mapping everything out, the mood, the song choice itself, what sort of image she'd like to portray. happy with her final results, nora gives the go-ahead for her music to begin, smile widening for a moment as she rolls her shoulders gently. "please, enjoy."
for a moment, the room is silent. then, the music begins, soft and easy to flow to, a rhythm nora easily finds center within as she begins her routine ( ooc ; note that this isn't a one for one of her choreography, but a heavy inspiration for what her choreography is in terms of vibe and movement ). nora has always held a preference for choreography that showcases a freer, bouncier sense of swag, precision without strict rigidity, so she leans more into that today, wanting to show the best of herself. above all else, however, there's a sensuality to it nora finds pleasure in showcasing, soft lines bending into softer curves before speeding up, only to break back into relaxation. she's content, pleased with herself and the way she moves, lips never breaking from its coy grin, a subtle smirk, eyes engaging.
by the end, she's left panting lightly, echoes of what had been playing fading into the quiet as she gives herself a moment. fixing loose strands of hair as she moves closer to stand before the staff members once more, nora bows. "thank you for seeing me today. i hope to hear back from you soon."
there are few people in this world noras allows herself to take true counsel from, words of advice often times pinned away without any motivation to revisit when unwarranted, unnecessary voices more a distraction than anything. feedback was welcome, sure ( despite what her personality, and well . . . actual words, might make others believe ), but only when they came from the mouths of those nora deemed important enough.
oddly enough, noras boss, a spry woman in her late thirties, had made the mental cut.
✉ — ( 미나 ).
. . . an instructor will be leaving the studio next month. are you interested in a full-time position?
it's a text that comes without warning, one she doesn't see until hours after it's been received, back aching where she hunched over at her desk, tweezers in hand as she glues embellishments to a partially finished class project. she'd been at it for hours, the reprieve she'd been looking to gain from taking a quick social media stroll on her phone long gone as she read the message.
money was always needed, but she was a student. a full-time student. she hesitates only for a moment, but the information is relayed.
✉ — ( 미나 ).
. . . ahhh, that's a shame.
. . . i wanted to run this by you first before posting the opening publically.
. . . you've really come into your own since you started here, you'd fit the position well.
. . . there'd be a decent pay raise if praise alone isn't enticing enough haha.
noras fists clench. she simply doesn't have the time.
never before has she cursed her own ambitions until now, the prospect of dipping her toes into multiple pools only proving to hold her back now.
✉ — ( 미나 ).
. . . let me know if you change your mind.
