it’s getting closer and closer to VYBE’S first comeback, and it’s clear to anyone that the company staff are on edge, constantly discussing between themselves, and going back and forth to ensure that this comeback is a success.

when SEOKJIN gathers the boys into a meeting room of the company, he presents the SCHEDULE on the screen for ease of viewing. “you’ve got a lot lined up, with barely any time to rest, so i hope all of you are taking care of yourselves seriously,” he says, voice laced with concern. “you’ve got a long time to practice for this comeback so we’re expecting perfect choreography, in-sync, no mistakes.”

“as per usual, you’ll be having a debut showcase on 18 JULY. the company is taking a leap of faith here… and we’ll be opening up 600 SEATS for this comeback showcase.” a clear jump from the previous 300 during the debut showcase.

as he goes through the schedule, the usual comeback preparations are flashed on the screen, along with a few new items that catch the attention of the members. “there’s a lot of filming, both in units as well as individually.”

“WOOK,” seokjin begins, “RISABAE, a popular youtuber, has kindly responded to our request for a collaboration, and wants you to star on her newest video! manager MINCHEOL along with a few staff members will be there to accompany you, so don’t worry too much, and remember to enjoy yourself!” seokjin claps, clearly happy with this. “hopefully, this will get more people in the general public to recognize VYBE. social media is a powerful tool. speaking of which…”

he presses a few buttons on his screen before he presents both an X and INSTAGRAM page. both the X and INSTAGRAM page’s usernames are @VYBE_MEMBERS. “the company has decided to open up social media accounts for members to post their candid selves. now of course, since you’re all still rookies, every post must go through management before they can be published. so make sure you send me a message of what you’d like to post, and we’ll go ahead and post them once it’s approved.” a long process, but one that’s befitting for lime entertainment.

IDOL CHATTER

+10 professional networking; -7 performance skill  communication is key in so many areas of life, including becoming a kpop idol! anyone who’s taken a communication class in university might recognize some of the lessons and techniques practiced in this workshop. you’ll learn how to effectively talk with others in your regular life, to audiences, on variety shows,  and more. don’t expect to practice your typical idol skills, though!

FREESTYLING

+15 choreography; -10 aesthetic if you’ve ever wondered how the most skilled idols in the industry can dance so easily and captivatingly to any music, now’s your chance to learn their secrets. this workshop focuses on what it takes to freestyle dance on the spot, no matter the song. groove to the rhythm and have fun, and don’t expect your hair and makeup to be intact after this one. 

LYRIC LESSON

+15 composition ; -10 presence what does it take to write lyrics to the next hit song? what about a song that touches people’s hearts? this workshop will give you tips on how to do both, or how to get started writing anything at all for beginners or those with writer’s block. this workshop has little to do with preparing to stand on stage, so make sure you don’t forget how to shine in front of a camera while you work behind the scenes.

BEING INSTRUMENTAL

+10 in any instrument ; -7 dancing any music teacher will tell you learning an instrument helps people better understand music as a whole. axis labels is bringing in experts for classes on various instruments, so you’re bound to find one you’re excited to learn or improve at. you might be surprised how much learning an instrument helps you in other areas of your training – but dancing isn’t one of those. don’t be shocked if you feel a little rusty in your next dance practice.

it has been close to three months since VYBE debuted, and the company has been working hard to promote and provide adequate training for the six members. as usual, the members are gathered in the practice room by SEOKJIN and MINCHEOL, their managers.

as a special treat, the two manager have bought the boys fried chicken. “have you all been working hard?” seokjin asks. he waits for the members to answer before smiling, watching as the vybe boys eat the chicken. 

“the company has decided to go through with a SINGLE ALBUM titled HELLO: COUNTDOWN,” he explains. “the album will consist of the title track that we discussed last month, along with a b-side. your comeback is scheduled for JULY 18TH.”

Lucky To Be Loved

mincheol inches closer to the group, and pulls out the schedule. “this month will be all about comeback preparations, so we want to make sure that you’re all energized enough to keep up. looking at your SCHEDULE, there won’t be any days to rest.”

as he goes through the schedule, he notes down important days such as festivals that the members will be performing at, photoshoot days, and music video filming. 

“JIHYUN, we have also secured you a spot on BEGIN AGAIN OPEN MIC. the company worked hard to get you this schedule, so make sure that you don’t disappoint us, alright?” mincheol explains, “we trust that you can make us proud with your voice.”

next is seokjin who turns to SIWOO. “and siwoo, congratulations! ADIDAS has reached out to us and have chosen you as a brand ambassador!” there are cheers as both managers clap and place more chicken on siwoo’s plate. “you’ll have a photoshoot soon, so make sure to take care of your skin!”

“and before we forget, the contents team, have decided to go through with what we call a web-variety show on your youtube channel. after much decision, we’ve decided to call the show LET’S VYBE. think of it as a variety show where fans can get to know you better,” seokjin explains. 

“alright then boys, once you’re done with your chicken, you have to get right back to work!” seokjin beams. mincheol, with his usual cold demeanour, lifts his fist in a fighting gesture as well.

— vybe: will you vibe with us ?

the members are made to gather in a meeting room. there, sits KWON JAEHYUN, their two managers, and a large team of staff members. a powerpoint is flashed on the screen - clearly a presentation put together by the staff to track VYBE’s progress for debut. a graph is shown on the screen, numbers flashed as the sales are presented. 

“as you can see here, your TIKTOKS have been garnering engagement, so we’ll be leveraging on that. the YOUTUBE VIDEOS we’ve uploaded have also seen numbers reaching almost a million views. but remember – these people are only interested in you because you’re new and fresh. we want them interested in you for the long run.”

“they’ve done well, but they need to do better.”

JAEHYUN nods, and writes something down in his notebook. “it’s a little upsetting that you haven’t managed to get a music show win,” he says, but JAEHYUN has always been a man of numbers; and thankfully, understanding as well. “but you’re still rookies. and the media seems to like you a lot. from what i see here, we need to expand on promotional activities.” he turns to the marketing representative and taps on the table, “get them something.”

with that he stands up and nods his head. “good job boys, but remember you can do even better. you’re expected to do even better. we’ll pour whatever resources we have for you, so don’t just work hard.”

as the CEO leaves, the heavy air vanishes and SEOKJIN lets out a sigh of relief. “okay well, that was that. as you guys know, the company has large expectations for you. we want to secure a strong core fandom for VYBE, fans that are willing to splurge no matter the cost. and to do that, you guys need to remain active.”

he shuffles to plug his laptop into the screen and shows the schedule for the month. “it’s packed, and you’ll barely have any day to rest - but we’re working on your comeback already. you guys are expected to practice, practice, practice. we’re in talks for some brand deals, and variety show appearances, so don’t fret. lime will do everything we can to make VYBE a household name.”

“along with your comeback, a few of the members have been selected for schedules to promote VYBE – while none of them are solo schedules yet, we’ve decided to send you guys in duos, remember to present us well on these schedules.”

SEOKJIN, along with the A&R TEAM fiddle with the laptop, before flashing something else on the screen. “this,” one of the staff member says, “will be your comeback song. we’re aiming to release something that will suit summer. the comeback date is still unknown, but we believe that this should be the direction VYBE is heading towards. you’ll also be promoting a b-side.”

the line distributions will be shared in the upcoming mission. as of now, members are expected to practice the choreography with the demo versions. 

in the upcoming days, exciting news is shared with the boys of VYBE! lime has managed to get them a brand ambassador deal with MUSINSA for a year-long contract, as a GQ KOREA MAGAZINE photoshoot.
