The prince with his angel

She's had that graceful, elegant demeanor for as long.

She actually didn't like ballet that much at first but Samuel recommended it, so she just went along with her older brother and eventually made it a hobby.

At first, it frustrated her a little because ballet requires so much patience and repetitive practice. It even affected the way she sits normally she can't really slouch or hunch her back anymore.

It can also put the risk of joint dislocations and foot deformities, so she decided it was better to quit.

She doesn't practice anymore, though. She stopped taking lessons when she started her PhD.

"Wedding Attire"

I was just rambling about how Nathan and Abel might actually get married three times

Once in the traditional style of their respective homelands, Frankish and Albion.

Once in the Japanese style.

And once in the traditional style of my own country!

The Japanese ceremony would be a little special, though, because Abel would get to wear both the groom's attire and the bride's attire. (His family crest wouldn't be attached to it.)

Nathan would especially want Abel to wear a wataboshi, because he really likes its symbolism.

It's traditionally associated with warding off misfortune and protecting the bride from evil influences as she begins a new chapter of her life.

But I also like to add my own interpretation to it:

The wataboshi almost completely conceals Abel's face from the side, so Nathan gets to be the only one who sees his face until the vow ceremony is over.

It's almost like saying that, beneath that veil, Abel's monstrous side is something his husband accepts completely.

Why doesn't Nathan want Abel to wear a tsuno-kakushi?

Quite literally, it means hiding the horns

hiding the demon.

To Nathan, the symbolism feels a little too oppressive toward his wife. It almost suggests that Abel is expected to submit to his husband and conceal the part of himself that is considered monstrous.

Nathan doesn't want to control Abel.

When it comes to the wedding attire, he'd rather let his wife choose for himself which headpiece Abel actually wants to wear.

Nathan is probably the happiest person of all. On their wedding day, he gets unlimited kisses from Abel.

And in the end, Nathan is the one doing all the cooking and housework.

I can totally picture him wearing an apron or rolling up his sleeves with a tasuki, waiting at home to welcome Abel back after a long day at work.

Nathan has been canon this whole time.

I only draw in this style to revisit the feeling of the old novel illustrations that I miss.

I don't take commissions that imitate Sensei's style this closely.

I have great respect for her and her work, so I'd rather keep it as a personal tribute.

What did I do that day?

The main thing was making merit. I woke up really early that morning and had to prepare some nice, delicious-looking sticky rice to offer to the monks.

Then, in the evening, I went out to have dinner with my family.

I suppose it's a little embarrassing that I'm still playing with paper dolls at my age. Good thing the koi fish didn't jump out and snatch Nathan right out of my hands.

And the food... it was SO spicy. If you're not good with spicy food, I definitely wouldn't recommend it. It can be pretty dangerous for people who aren't used to this kind of local cuisine.

A kind older friend also drew a picture for me. Thank you so much! And tonight, I got another one from my older sister. I set both pictures as my wallpapers.

I also took the photos I had and drew over them, adding Japanese writing as handwriting practice at the same time. I've improved a lot this year! I can read hiragana now, and I can separate, combine, and guess the meanings of some kanji. I still have a lot more to practice, though.

Native handwriting really doesn't look like the neat digital typeface you see here, but I intentionally wrote it this way because if I wrote naturally in my usual messy handwriting, it would be almost impossible to read.

Oh, and about the word dono: nowadays, it's no longer considered a polite form of address, but in the context of Trinity Blood, it's used to address high-ranking nobles.

I actually like that Nathan calls me Haha-sama. It makes me feel like I'm old

For me, life has been both painful and joyful. Being born human feels like both a blessing and a curse

I’m so excited that I can’t sleep.

Her officers would be deployed directly to the front lines alongside the Holy Knights, similar to how military medical corps operate in real armies.

I imagine her department wouldn't consist of doctors alone it would also include mechanical engineers and maintenance specialists who repair medical equipment, transport machinery, and battlefield devices.

And would she still be involved in diplomacy?

Absolutely.

She's still much more aligned with Caterina's faction than with Francesco's.

Now I really want to start designing the uniforms for her officers... ✨

At the moment, I'm drawing Samuel, and I think I'll go back and re-render Miliza afterward.

Nathan's father was mostly recorded in history simply as the Prince Consort of Frank, so his real name is surprisingly difficult to find. He was originally just an ordinary French commoner.

Some records mention that he once worked with a medical team, and that's true. But after spending most of his life in that field, he grew tired of it. So, at the age of thirty-six, he left his career behind and enrolled in a diplomatic academy instead.

Thanks to his talent, he worked his way up to become a secretary and eventually a chief advisor.

...Only to grow tired of politics as well.

He disappeared, settled down in the countryside, and started growing vegetables instead.

Talk about an unconventional life.

He actually came very close to leaving worldly life behind altogether, but fortunately, Saoeme found him before that happened.

Skipping ahead...

After returning, he served as both an advisor and worked alongside the royal physicians. Even with such an overwhelming workload, he always found time to take Nathan to the countryside.

For someone who became the Prince Consort of an entire kingdom, he remained astonishingly down-to-earth.

Honestly, he was so unbelievably unconventional 😭

But because of that, Nathan grew up surrounded by love and genuine care.
