Relationships between vampires and werewolves have always been close in mythology. Sometimes vampires were believed to transform into dogs or wolves to escape from their graves or from people (we can see this in Dracula, although the book is not a very accurate representation of vampiric myths). Sometimes the same word used for vampire also meant werewolf.

In some myths, after a werewolf died, it became a vampire, or a vampire was said to be the child of a witch and a werewolf.

However, there are also completely different myths in which vampires are mortal enemies of wolves, dogs, and werewolves. In these myths, werewolves protect cemeteries from vampires.
