meeting oomf today :D

i know it’s been talked about for months now and not to be a doomer but i don’t think people who don’t work food service/food retail realize just how bad the food supply is about to get this month because of the oil embargo. we’ve stopped getting our whole truck order at my job (for example, my location orders 3-5 bags of shredded lettuce per day and we’ve been getting ONE and all the locations around mine have been having the same problem and i know this because we keep getting calls from other stores asking if we have any spare lettuce and no one does) since our warehouse has to supply more stores per truck because diesel is so expensive. and this goes all the way up the supply chain, can’t ship as much produce because there isn’t enough fuel, but there also isn’t even enough produce to ship because of the fertilizer shortages, and we not only have too little food being supplied but also OLD food being supplied because what is being supplied has to sit around longer since there are fewer deliveries being made than demanded. the price of food is about to skyrocket and people who aren’t yet starving will be very shortly
