Sushi Hon and Sushi Hotaru are probably the best picks for sushi train in Melbourne CBD, with long waiting lines ALWAYS. Both serve up a large selection of sushi at a reasonable price (for a sushi train that is). Sushi Hon is a tad pricier than nearby competitors with a flat rate of $4.50 per plate.

However, despite being a tad dearer, my personal verdict is that Sushi Hon wins in terms of quality, taste and freshness. Didn’t get the chance to take nice photos as I just couldn’t wait to dig in as soon as I sat down after waiting in line for a while. But here are some of the photos I managed to take. :)

My personal favourite was the jumping lobster roll and the soft shell crab with cheese. Other dishes can also be ordered off the train, such as udon noodles and tempura to help fill your bellies more.

  For those who don’t want to wait in line or have limited time during their lunch breaks, Sushi Hon also has a takeaway section with a variety of sushi packs and bento boxes ready to go.

Like they all say, “Fresh is best!” and Shyun really does deliver when it comes to freshness! The sashimi had that vibrant colour and delicate, soft texture that melted in your mouth! The crab rolls and udon were also very excellent, but the chirashi was definitely the highlight for me.

If I lived closer to Carnegie, Shyun would definitely be my personal hot spot for Japanese food. The sukiyaki hot pot, that we saw our neighbours eating looked scrumptious! I will be back very soon to try that out along with the other sashimi dishes and everything else on the menu! :D

I remember going for the earliest session for a movie once in the morning and the guy behind the candy bar just gave me a strange look and questioned whether it was too early for a choc top and I just give him a straight, “NEVER” as an answer and proceeded to…
