**Rough Draft**

She opened her arms and welcomed me inside

like a dry field of crops welcome summer rain.

Her mouth eched my future into stone with the bones of our past and my forgotten trial period of love caused my heart to overdraw...

She is the collision I’m constantly preparing myself for but never see coming.

The blindside swipe that sends me soaring into the cold winter air, grasping and reaching for anything or anyone to break my fall.

When I finally reach the bottom, my eyes are open but I cannot see.

The impact our crash of chaos and destruction had could never fully be calculated until all the wheels stop spinning...

I will never see you grow,

But you will.

My name, my face and presence you will never know,

But I was there.

Your laugh will forever be a memory,

That makes me smile, then cry.

I wish you a lifetime of happiness, of that there is no doubt...

I just wish there was more that could be done,

More that I could have figured out.

Without you my heart is cold,

My art is bland.

I will forever be a shell of a person, even when I’m old,

I’ll look back at my life and wish I had your hand to hold.
