HMMMM there’s a quite unique Russian wonderfic peculiarity that we didn’t adopt from English-speaking fandom, it’s our own shit, we can be so very proud. In US dub, Makoto was called Lita, right? Well, when our Russian fandom learned English a little and started to read fics, there was a popular AU going around in which girls were princesses of their guarding planets. Russian fandom was young and naive and therefore very into princesses, so our aspiring writers started to embody all their barbie disney dreams and princess fics flourished. But in Russian, you cannot give a princess some simple plebeian name! No Mina, Raye and Lita for these children, thank you very much. So our girls became: Ameli, Minoria, Reiana and Litavra. Very sweet, very lovely. Only ‘Litavra’ in Russian actually means ‘ kettledrums ’.
