Ursa: Azula! I am so disappointed in you!
Azula: What did I do?!
Ursa: Sorry. Force of habit.
[ Azula meets the monk in the spirit temple. Team Avatar appears. ]
Monk: Whoās that?
Azula: They donāt like me.
[ Kemurikage appear. ]
Monk: Whoās that?
Azula: They donāt like me either.
[ Iroh and Ursa appear. ]
Monk: Whoās that?!
Azula: Letās just assume for the moment that everyone in here doesnāt like me.
The idea that Azula refuses to accept help from others is not supported by canon. It's true that Azula is very reluctant to show any vulnerability. However, when Ty Lee spontaneously offers Azula help getting boys to like her, Azula enthusiastically accepts it, despite some doubts about Ty Lee's advice. And of course Azula was very happy and pleased to accept Zuko's help conquering Ba Sing Se.
Azula is perfectly willing to accept the help of other people. However, she can't "accept help" if other people aren't offering it to her.
i wonder if zuko was ever extra grumpy about azula even being better than him at getting him un-banished

In the comics Zuko turns to Ozai for advice and now I'm kinda thinking of a scenario where he turns to Azula instead.
Like, imagine he found himself in a situation where all of his friends and people he cares about left for one reason or another, he's suffered multiple assassination attempts, he was left in a position he was not prepared for as Fire Lord, he doesn't trust anyone around him and generally he feels like he's losing his mind, so he goes to seek a friend in one person he thinks will understand.
I don't really know what happens from here, got just some hazy ideas. Wherever Azula is staying at is not horribly abusive like that asylum in the comics tho. I don't know how Zuko convinces her to become his ally, really my mind just skipped straight to the image of two chaotic mentally ill teenagers trying to run a country unsupervised, getting into shenanigans and mildly to severely unnerving everyone around them.
Also imagining that the Gaang and Iroh (who were not warned about Azula being back at the palace) visit several months later only to immediately bear wittiness first hand to Zuko and Azula doing some dumb shit like having an aggressive pillow fight or a who-can-handle-more-spice competition
All I will say is that Zuko asking for advice from Azula makes infinitely more sense than him asking for advice from Ozai. We see him ask for Azulaās help in the series, and also see him imagine what her advice would be.Ā Meanwhile, I doubt Zuko was ever comfortable asking Ozai for help or advice.
Had some thoughts about Iroh and Azula earlier. I'm sure we all remember this scene, right?
Now, this post isn't about how Iroh was wrong for giving her that look and being suspicious and on edge around her when he hasn't seen Azula for 3 years. He actually was right to be suspicious, precisely BECAUSE of that fact. They had no contact for 3 years, and suddenly she shows up out of the blue. That would make anyone rightfully suspicious. But again, that's not what this post is about. This is about the fact that the last time Iroh saw Azula, Ozai had burned Zuko's face. Showing Iroh that he wasn't above harming his children if it suited him. Azula was alone with Ozai for 3 years. Who knows what happened to her during that time frame. And yet, Iroh shows no concern for her well being whatsoever. Doesn't ask how she's been doing all this time or anything like that. Just greets her with disdain. Like. That's just seriously chilling and fucked up. And I didn't even notice this until now. And for someone like Iroh's character, and the way how he is with Zuko? All caring and loving? That just...does not make sense as a writing choice. At all.
Why I think his relationship with Azula, or rather lack there of, is portrayed this way, is because the writers were so focused on making Azula into this badass villain who could even make Iroh of all people be on his guard around her, that they forgot that she was also his niece. Someone who was also in desperate need of help, just like Zuko was. Someone who needed love just like Zuko did. And yet we never see Iroh even attempt to extend that to her at all. The fact that even Aaron Ehasz came out and admitted that the way they wrote Iroh when it came to Azula didn't match how the portrayed his character overall further proves this theory.
Azula(puts hand cuff on suki): so long peasant enjoy rotting in prison
Suki: next time I see you your ass is mine.
Many adventures later.
Azula and suki naked laying in each other's arms under a stary sky.
Suki: this isn't what I meant but eh
Azula: huh?
Suki(squeezes azula but): nothing babe
"WeĀ areĀ brother and sister. It's important for us to spend time together! Don't you think so, Mom?"
"But Zuko,Ā PrinceĀ Zuko, you're a lot of things, but you're not a traitor, are you?"
--
"But I don't have the Avatar. What if Father doesn't restore my honor?"
"He doesn't need to, Zuko. Today, you restored your own honor."
"I've decided to lead the fleet of airships to Ba Sing Se alone. You will remain here in the Fire Nation."
"But I thought we were going to do this together."
Late prompt for Azula Week 2021 - Family & Loyalty @azulaweek
One of my favorite aspects of Azula's character are the contradictions in her values. Much like Zuko, she seems to struggle to find an impossible balance between the two opposing parental influences and their values. During the series she tries to achieve some uncomfortable middle ground with having her family (and friends) back together, but using her father's approved methods of manipulation in achieving it.

Azula week August 1st - Loneliness
Whoop whoop first Azula week post (event by @azulaweek)
Sorry if it's too early for anyone, I'm posting this at like 2 am in the morning š I've just been really excited to post
First thing that came to mind when reading the first prompt was how lonely it must have been with everyone banished and her friends gone. So I decided to express that by using a big ass room that could really show that loneliness.
Also yes I did just insert an image of the throne room I am far too lazy and impatient to fully draw and render it š besides I never intended for this to be anything big.
