I have been receiving a high number of enquiries over the past few days regarding the commencement of cosmetic injectables from Monday 27th. Due to this I felt that it was important for me to take the time here to clarify a few things. A statement was made on Thursday by one of the societies that some cosmetic physicians choose to be members of. It was then backed the following day by another body representing plastic surgeons. It is important to note that both of these groups are self appointed with no legislative power. The impetus for these announcements may have been the governments move to allow certain elective surgeries to slowly restart however, even in that area the health department specifically stipulated โnot cosmetic proceduresโ. Therefore, although some doctors believe it is acceptable and safe to reopen I have personally chosen to wait for the relevant government authorities to give the green, rather than amber, light. Rest assured I cannot wait to start working again (Iโm missing it and you all so much) but I donโt want to put you or the general public at risk for a โnon essential procedureโ.
