I am almost certain in canon that Alabasta's GREATEST defense has been simply the 'Empty' Throne not looking at them too closely. Overlooking them.

Dragon keeps his eyes on a cluster of Nobles talking in front of him. Very pointedly ignoring the hand squeezing at his thigh from behind.
There's been a lot he's been ignoring just to breath. Like the number of slaves he's been seeing in poor condition scattered about the room, waiting on their masters with frigid smiles. Like the mixture of thin seastone chains and dark silk that barely manages to cover him.
Imu, for once, has not taken either the smaller shape or that of the winged devil. For tonight, mu wears a more human appearance, another Celestial Noble to join the throng. A disguise, among mu's own subjects.
For what exact reason Dragon doesn't know...yet. But he has no doubt that at least part of it is showcase Dragon off to the masses.
Nearby, one Noble lingers. Staring with clear want in Dragon's direction, where Dragon sits on Imu's lap.
Darkness. Cold. From right behind him, from the hand grabbing at him. The looker jerks in place, before hurrying away. Hurrying on a leg that won't move quite right, Dragon notes.
...if Imu doesn't mutilate all of them for looking too much first.
That's, what, the third in as many minutes that Dragon has felt some surge of something from Imu, directed towards a lustful onlooker.
Something that always leads to said onlookers limping away from whatever's been done to them.
With no small amount of gallows humor, he reflects that apparently the Revolutionary Army could take out a large portion of the World Nobles simply by setting him to pole dance with Imu in the room.
But there are things to think about.
Such as the thin connection between him and Gast, as the imp scouts out the room. Listening in on what Dragon himself can't. Listening in a way that Imu doesn't appear to have noticed.
Yet.
A thing to be wary of, of getting caught at, but so far, Imu has paid very little attention to the familiar other than to use him as the chain the imp supposedly represents between them.
Useful, to gather little pieces of information. Of fact and rumor. To understand what's happening in the world outside the Holy Land's walls, when Imu consistently denies him that. Saying that he doesn't need to worry about that anymore.
"Thinking, my Choice?" Even Imu's voice, language, has changed for this disguise, lowering to his ear. Not by much, but enough of a shift to be noticeable.
Dragon shivers at the breath gusting down the back of his neck.
"Only wondering why we're here. You don't seem to be enjoying yourself much."
"What concern I hear from thee." No small amount of delight in those words, as Imu leans forward to nibble at his earlobe. "What art thou up to now, Choice of mine Heart?"
"That's for me to know and for you to find out." A dare. If he were anyone else, he'd been losing his head for it, Dragon knows.
But because he's, well, him, Imu only huffs in amusement and mu's hand creeps under to rub at Dragon's other head. Trying to make him hard.
Dragon bites his lip. Enough to almost draw blood.
"Now, we have been here long enough. Let us adjourn for the night."
Translate, fuck Dragon senseless because Imu is feeling horny.
Even in a relatively smaller human shaped form, Imu is still more than large enough to tuck Dragon possessively against mu's chest. Holding him in place as mu moves to leave the party.
While behind them, Dragon can feel Gast. Feel small claws close about a key.

A heavy sigh. Salvadaor feels the breath on his face, as its source presumably squats down next to him. A few moments later, he can feel tugging at the chains.
An attempt to loosen them.

Oh. So Doresain thinks he has done to himself of his own will. That's alright. The man doesn't need to know what really happened.

But no fr half the fun is watching Doresain try to care for Salv and the wholeass process drives him insane bc Salv's concept of what constitutes "a meal" and Dor's concept of one is so vastly different it gives the king unending grief.
(Dor finding out salv ate just a third of an apple and part of a slice of bread and that was it for a whole 2 days and Dor just wants to explode wdym that's ALL you ate, bishop!!!!!)

Oh yeah, Dragon does use some of the power he gets. For most of them, he stumbles into the ability by accidentally, ends up using it because his people need him too.
He doesn't go for any more than that until it's directly confirmed that Imu can't actually use that power/connection to find him, and that the contract can't be broken no matter how much he uses or doesn't use of the magic.

A ha hahaha ok so apologies if this makes 0 sense at all, I am about to pass out for bed for work at 5am so you get this now or at 5am there's no middle ground strap in.
The two of them initially gave me brain worms bc of how polar they are to each other in many aspects .
The man who mutilates his body to save vs the man who devours to remember/honor
The man who disregards himself to the point of erasure vs the man who takes others unto himself and they are remembered/become a part of him
The man who neglects himself bc his body is just a tool/vessel vs the man who cares for himself bc the body must be treasured
Like. They foil each other in a lot of ways. Salvador, who likely eats very little if at all and its always plain meals, vs doresain who makes sure every meal is nutritious and brings out the best of the ingredients bc to do less would shame the life taken/lost. The fact that Doresain takes great pleasure in feeding others and Salv literally needs someone to remind him to care for himself.
You can turn it into communion themes, if you want. To take a piece (of flesh) unto yourself; to nourish and be nourished by. The fact that Doresain thrives when he can feed and nourish someone else, to ensure memory is honored and food is partaken. Communion turned sacrilegious and erotic.
Plus there's the fact thar Dore would also find it rather amusing imho to needle Salv.
Dore literally faced a god and was feasted upon by it. You can argue that he's linked to / partially assimilated into that god if you want. So here is this funny little lizard in front of you who speaks of an "All-Father" god and yet that very god does not stop this fool from bleeding out and carving chunks of flesh from himself or neglecting himself. Its almost like that god is encouraging this damaging behavior. I imagine, to me, that's their first interaction. A clash if religious conflict. And then Dore notices the way this bishop constantly reeks of blood. And that gets his interest so he digs a little and a little and a little. And he finds out this fool of a man is mutilating his body and is practically malnourished.
And for what? What has that god done for you, Salvador? Have your prayers truly been answered or have you carved flesh from bone to make your own miracles in the silence?
It's just fascinating to me how their relationship would grow from Doresain needling Salv for mild amusement at first, shifting when he realizes just how poorly Salv takes care of his health and eats, and how Dore stubbornly needles his way into Salv's daily life to feed him.
I will not let you starve yourself for a god that will not answer your devotion in kind. Partake of me and be nourished, in body and soul and memory.
They mean a lot to me, tbh. How do you teach someone who has long forgotten that kindness and concern can be unconditional? How long has it been since Salv was cared for and looked after without any strings attached? Without expectation he will carve flesh and bone from his body and break upon those stone tablets to repay the debt? How do you help someone relearn that their life has value beyond their "use" to others? How do you love someone and care for them when they think so little of themselves they fail to understand why you worry in the first place? How do you remind someone that they must live and care for themselves so that they can truly live and be remembered?

Shanks interacting with Luffy raised by Imu sounds so interesting and messy. Luffy would be 4-5 when Shanks was in the Holy Land.
Honestly, that's the age that I would prefer him to be picked up around, at the youngest, because any younger and I think the essence of Luffy's...Luffy-ness isn't quite the same.
But yeah, it'd interesting in that I think that would be the only way Shamrock would get interested in Luffy because he'd observe Shanks interacting with him and wonder "what's up with that."
Also. Sorry Shanks fans, but I don't see Shanks breaking Luffy out of the Holy Land on his way out. Not with he's already trying to escape the brand on his own arm and taking Luffy who is personally connected to the creator that brand would paint a bigger target, AND Luffy isn't in a lot of personal danger?
Like this is a guy that argues against bringing a child onto a pirate ship even while being RAISED on a pirate ship. He might be sad at the thought of Luffy possibly growing up to be the Worst, but he's not going to endanger a kid's life on a maybe he'll be better off that way.

Ever since someone called Imu a yandere I've been thinking
what if Dragon got into a relationship with someone while he was away from Imu, someone who can't just be eradicated,maybe they don't know who specifically,or is someone the WG can't fuck with like a yonko or smth
he deserves nice things and Imu deserve to seethe like the little bitch he is and be dumped by a 3rd person(joyboy,lili and now dragon that blob is a chronic fumbler)
I also support Dragon remaining happily single but it being faked that he's dating (or simply giving false impression that what's happening), so Imu seethes over absolutely nothing while Dragon lives his best life.
