I know last year it was sometime in August (I think) so was just wondering cause I don't check Tumblr all the time but I want to get the list as soon as its posted

I'm neck-deep in a Big Bang at the moment and was worried about getting burnt out on writing fic before October, but tbh I've just been getting increasingly excited about Whumptober! There have been years where the only writing I do is for Whumptober. I'm so grateful for all the hard work that's put into it, it has genuinely been so good for the development of my writing over the past several years. Thank you all so much, I'm really looking forward to October!!!!!!

Hello! I'm trying to save a work to the whumptober 2025 collection, but it's telling me the collection is not open. Sorry to bug you ^^

Sorry you're having trouble adding to the collection. As it stands all the AO3 Collections for WT are open, so I'm not sure what's happening there!

We just wanted to say one more huge thank you to everyone for helping us make this year yet another fantastic Whumptober!

*please note, some of our completionists used multiple types of media to complete the challenge!

As of November 5th the AO3 collection had 5345 works from 954 fandoms. Remember that the AO3 collection will remain open, and you can add to it year-round, whenever you find yourself filling a prompt from the 2025 list. The other years collections remain open too!

We’ve had a great time and we’re so glad for the opportunity to run this whumptastic event. We’re now going to shut up shop for the season, but we’re still around to answer asks and moderate the Discord.

Thank you again to our absolutely brilliant Posting Fairies, to the previous mods for all their hard work, and most especially to you, the most incredible community of whumpers out there. May your blorbos be in pain and your angst be bright!
