eden’s theatrics are enough to draw a chuckle out of him, though these acts of disrespect are nothing new in their friendship that is slowly evolving into something forbidden. his heart keeps sinking from the mention of his best friend and the guilt that comes with whatever this entails. he knows everything that’s happened in the pair’s volatile relationship, from the beginning to the end and it is a strange feeling, to be more and more acquainted with all the reasons that made mj fall for eden in the first place. to be drawn by the saccharine laughter, the shine in those bright eyes, the mischief that mirrors his own all too well. 

what is the right thing to do? if he had been more honest, he would have said that them not meeting ever again like this would be the first move. “you already said everything that needs to be said.” he answers, trying to be as objective as possible despite the selfishness that swells within him. an anxious lick of his lips before he continues. “dragging it on isn’t going to help anybody.” as shattered as mj might be, he is still holding on that last shred of hope while eden is clearly not on the same page. 

shaking the heavier thoughts off his mind, he brings himself to the kitchenette to give his hands a quick wash as he regards eden with disbelief. “the best chef i know? you’ve got quite an ego, don’t you?” as if he isn’t all too aware of it already. “you made crème brûlée and you’re not going to share?” a pout appears on his rosy lips as he gives eden the puppy eyes that always help get what he wants. “i thought we’re friends, eden — you’re breaking my heart.”

he knows the fault to be his, for his relationship’s failure. objectively, mj and he had too little in common to last longterm. he knew as much from the beginning, but feelings bloomed and he ignored those incompatibilities  —  which resulted in countless ugly fights, between the pair  —  for long months. always envisioning himself settled down in his early twenties, and believing in soulmates, he gave it a fair try. even fooled himself into believing they’d beat the odds stacked against them. he was wrong, all along. if he opened his eyes sooner, he would’ve noticed there was someone he was compatible with, all along, and with whom he shared an undeniable chemistry that could neither be feigned, nor forced between two individuals. hard to resist such organic connection, and fight it with rationality, when none of what’s happening between them is rational. 

cutting ties with mj means a huge boundary between kyungsoo and eden evaporating, and pushing him one step closer to biting the forbidden fruit. eden can’t be more selfish than he’s already been, however. keeping mj around for the sake of not acting on feelings and thus, betraying him in the worst way possible, is plain cruel. “you’re right, and i don’t want to keep on hurting him by being a presence in his life. he deserves to move on.” eden already has, clearly. he heaves loudly, shoulders slumping. the situation is taxing to say the least. as is fighting himself whenever the other is around. he’s doomed, but he has no other choice than keep on doing so. “you’ll be there for him, won’t you?” 

   ❝wait, what makes it pathetic? I think that’s really.. 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁, unless you felt a little weighed down. if so, I’m sorry! I shouldn’t do that often.❞

“i’ve only read those types of reactions in stories.” marlowe smiled gently. “and it’s not pathetic. not one bit.” 

a smile only they get to witness, genuine, fond, breaks across his face as he observes them, running about the room, silently. the rambunctious idol rarely, if ever behaves so calmly  —  korain, always going out of his way to misbehave and drive his manager nuts, finding great entertainment in watching the man run around like a headless chicken to fix the idol’s shenanigans  —  but, he’s too lost in his own thoughts, contemplating whether to do something that could and would change both their lives, to act like his usual self. lips press together, frustration written all over his features. he’s tired of thinking.  he’ll deal with the consequences of his actions … later. he always does. “go out on a date with me, after the show.”

“ it’s not laced with anything but love, stupid. i just wanted to help my best friend find his soulmate, is all. you know that i love to play cupid, and i’m still hopeful that you will change your lothario ways, you know? ” he counters, shaking his head at the younger boy as he drops the sugar cube back into his pocket again. “ i guess now you’ll never — hnng…” suddenly it feels like everything is spinning. his eyelids blink rapidly, trying to clear his blurry vision, but it doesn’t appear to be working. “ feel really dizzy, lev. i want to leave, please. can you… can you carry me?” 

𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐟𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧  𝐢𝐬  𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫  on  eiko’s  features  and  camila  feels  a  pang  of  guilt  .  she  sets  her  phone  down  to  give  undivided  attention  ,  voice  soft  as  she  speaks  once  eiko  asks  if  it  even  matters  .  “  of  course  it  does  ,  you’re  clearly  upset  .  ”  camila  waits  for  another  make-up  to  walk  past  before  continuing  on  .  “  eiko  ,  maybe  we  should  go  somewhere  more  private  to  discuss  this  –––––  there’s  still  time  before  i  have  to  be  on  set  .  ”

𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞  𝐛𝐲  𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞  ,  even  with  friends  ,  korain  takes  the  offer  of  a  hug  though  he  opts  to  stretch  out  on  the  couch  and  prop  his  head  on  her  lap  .  “  this  is  good  .  ”  he  hums  as  he  moves  to  lay  on  his  back  so  he  can  look  up  at  hyeri  ,  a  boxy  smile  forming  despite  the  panic  he’d  felt  mere  moments  ago  .  he  doesn’t  like  to  dwell  on  the  nightmares  ,  not  when  they  have  yet  to  seep  into  his  life  when  he’s  awake  .  korain  can  only  hope  that  remains  true  .  “  you  can  take  the  worried  look  of  your  face  ,  i  promise  i’m  okay  ––––––  it  was  just  a  bad  dream  .  ”  he  nudges  his  head  against  her  leg  ,  another  smile  given  for  reassurance  .  “  can  you  still  make  it  to  my  show  tomorrow  ?  ”

   although minah would never admit it (because she doesn’t like to tell people her feelings like that), her self-esteem was at an all time low. her cuteness was perceived as either an act or annoying and she was just deemed an undesirable person to some, both online and off. it took a toll on her at times. “ do you mean that? are you sure? ” she thought she was saving him the pain.

eyebrows raised and arms annoyingly crossed—hana was debating to either laugh in his face or beat him to a pulp. ❛ oh, please! you’re just doing this for yourself. if you want to end this, just tell me. i’m not going to burst into tears cause you’re being an asshole. ❜
