I decided to make one out of impulse and so I can guide an audience of selfshippers to the art and fics of my selfships and my f/os as a whole

BYF: most of my F/Os have messed up backstories or do messed up things. I do not romanticize nor glamorizing them. I romanticize and glamorize the character, not their issues and/or crimes. I think people are allowed to selfship with messed up characters if it brings them joy. I am also an adult.

I'm gonna answer about Mukago because I don't gush about her enough

I love her so much. Idc that she appeared in one chapter/one episode and she died as soon as she was intorduced. I love Mukago so much

(Fun fact, I started selfshipping with her by accident. While I was writing To Quit Or Not To Quit: A New Life, I wanted to add some romance for Battie to have and Mukago ended up being my guinea pig. I loved writing her and her and Battie's dynamic that I accidentally fell in love. Whoops lol)

I love her voice, first and foremost. Kira Buckland has the perfect voice for her. Even if we never got to hear her speak normally because all of Mukago's scenes are of the poor woman screaming and stuttering in fear.

I also love that Mukago and my sona have matching neck accessories. Although, hers is just a scarf that she's always wearing and Battie's is fur

And her red kimono and red nails are very pretty. Idc if it's simple as fuck. Wine red is one of my favorite colors of all time. Black, lilac purple, and wine red are my favorite colors

Yes, Ozzy does have penguin-like tendencies. Although he only shows them when it's just me/my sona and him. He has a reputation to uphold y'know

Cuddling for warmth is definitely one of them. I LOVE SNUGGLES SO MUCH. AND HE GIVES GREAT HUGS TRUST

My favorite fun fact about Reala is they're a shapeshifter. NiGHTS' whole shtick, aside from flying, is being able to transform into anything the moment calls for: sled? mermaid? rocket ship? the sky's the limit. And Reala has all the same powers that their twin sibling NiGHTS does.

My favorite one is that they can turn into a car. Fuck needing to learn how to drive and needing to buy a car in this economy, my partner's the car

What drew you to them? What did you find interesting/attractive about them that made you want to start dating them? (Does that make sense?)

For the first question, it is a very personal answer, look no further than here to see it

Now what draw me into them was this design

I love the firey details. Their mask. Their pink nails. The blend their expressions have between serious and smug. I love it all. I just don't draw the firey details, in particular, a lot because it's a pain T^T especially when I work on such small doodles.

And, what i like to call, their classic design is so sleek too. Omg. His yellow claws i love. And the diamond pattern is so pretty (a shame it's covered by bandages in my design of her)

For this to make sense, you need to know about Reala. They're a being that resides in the dream world. He is the General to the Nightmare Army and works as Wizeman the Wicked, a self-proclaimed God of Nightmares and her creator. (I am currently brainstorming a what if story. What would happen if they lost their job, got banished from his world and ended up in mine, how she copes with it and how my sona helps it through their troubles) but that's enough context

I've always liked Reala.

NiGHTS into Dreams as a series was the first niche Sega franchise that I found out about as a kid and Reala one of the first characters that helped me open my eyes to alternative fashion with their stricking stripes and their bold makeup (sadly most makeup makes my face all itchy due to sensory reasons and I only put it on when I need to for cosplay).

Plus, if you couldn't tell from the severe lack of heroes in my f/o list, I have always loved villainous characters. Quoting one of my favorite shows, I look on the bright side of the dark side. Plus, Reala was, and always had been, my go-to character whenever I play Sega Superstars Tennis (PS2 and DS for me) and Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed (Xbox360 through XboxOne Arcade and 3DS for me). I love their voice lines.

"There is no NiGHTS!" "Winner! I am the best!" "Did you think I jest?" "I told you in your nightmares that I'd win." Are just some of the lines they have across those two games (both using the same pre-recorded lines) that come to mind when I think of them.

Now, I had juggled between NiGHTS, Reala, and Jackle (another very popular Nightmaren from the series) as my favorites. But it wasn't until I kept having those dreams that helped me confirm Reala as my defacto favorite of the series. Plus, they're THE chatacter that my now best fiend of three years thinks of when they think of me

The one dream that started in all, I had in middle school (pre-Rona's reign of terror) and I keep it on loop in my brain

I also keep a screenshot of me explaining that dream on discord in my phone's gallery in case I feel nostalgic

But, here's the thing. That wasn't the only dream I had that Reala appeared in. Let alone one where they played a positive role. I remember having at least thirty but lost count and all of them are a blur now

From the first dream, I could tell he was merely tolerating my presence. Even she didn't know why it saved me the first time. But, as they kept appearing in my dreams, I noticed he was slowing growing fond of me

Back then I didn't even consider Selfshipping an option. Until, like, two?? years ago. And I realized I had this huge attachment to this typically cruel and arrogant nightmare jester that apparently had a soft spot for me, in my dreams

And what really pushed the ball forward was the most recent dream I had that Reala had appeared in, last December, where he got his shit rocked by another First Level Nightmaren (not canon to the source material completely made up by my own subconscious). I came in and helped her like they had helped me been all these years. That helped me realize this character meant more to me than a lot of other characters in fiction.

Between the last dream that i don't remember and that one, i lnew Reala was a character that brought me comfort. Nostalgia from better days. I still remember the day I unlocked them in S&ASRT on my Xbox, as a young teen, after rage-quitting for a whole year because I couldn't get enough stars. I felt so triumphant. At that moment, I knew they were mine. Now it's more ways than one.

The reason why they're a QP F/O and not a romantic one is that, to me, they're between AroAce and Ace Cupioromantic to me. Nightmaren never struck me as sexual creatures or beings that can feel those kinds of things. I mean, the ones in the games only go after and scare children/help children if we're talking about NiGHTS, themself (fun fact NiGHTS is Reala's twin). The protagonsists of the first game, NiGHTS into Dreams, are between 14/15 and the protags of the second, NIGHTS Jounrey of Dreams, are 12. Of course there isn't going to be anything of that nature in game like that

How i see it, they're intruiged by the concept of romance/partnership despite not being able to feel those emotions and I/my sona is an outlet to explore those curiosities. It's nothing like he's seen in the Realm of Nightmares, after all. Plus, I just wanna give her all the love my heart can give it. And nothing is stopping me while I still have a brain that can dream and a hand that can draw and write

All in all, Reala was there when nobody was. No matter how many friends I gained and lost, i always had the two games and the character I main that gave me the most comfort

Even though now I have people more people who care about me than I did in the past, I still come back to them. He means the world to me. Nothing can replace my love for her
