To start off, the story of BL4 far surpasses that of any other title in the series, and I don't say that lightly. Just in Terminus Range alone (by far the region with the strongest story elements), the storytelling, in my opinion, is far more interesting than most of the previous games. The other regions, while not as strong, really do hold up in all aspects, whether it be characters or narrative, although Carcadia Burn felt the weakest to me story-wise. I think this is definitely the gold standard of what should be expected from the writers when making a Borderlands game, as the humor was blended in with the more serious tone so well, like I was truly surprised by how well it was done. This is the only Borderlands game where the story left me actually speechless throughout, and this started right from the beginning with the Timekeeper having people kill themselves; it truly set the tone for the rest of the game, and it was too good. The Arjay twist, I thought, was fun, and I think it was a great way to give more lore to the siren's powers and how it would affect the average person, so I appreciated that. The ending of the game was good, too, having a version of Lilith talk to herself and basically be like "hey girl, you're all cooked and there's nothing you can do about it lol" was kinda crazy. BUT also TPS war was referenced, so I hope that will come in the next game in like 10 years. Overall, the story was peak Borderlands is so back ect, ect.

Now that I have said the good, what I fucking hated, and that was not bringing back old characters only to have them replaced by new ones that are the exact same except more "palatable". This is targeted at having Tannis replaced by Zadra. I am not a Zadra hater by any means, but how on gods green earth do you think hmmm , what character should we not put in the new BL game, and the writers were like I know who should definitely not be in the game and have no mention except for an easter egg, Patricia Tannis, because fuck her, am I right? This is going to become an incoherent rant, so do bear with me. Tannis is so central to the BL series from the first game; she was the one who found the vault key fragments and then scattered them. She knew where the vault was. She is the leading scientist in eridian technology. She invented the echo net, and you can say, well, most of the first game is retconned. Nobody gives a gaf. Then you can look at BL2 and 3, and she's important in those too, she holds the sme role and knowledge as the first game in BL2, and is even tortured into giving up the vault key, like if she weren't there, the game might have never happened. Then, in three, she's a siren, she is Lilith's best friend and confidant (they're gay), and she does all this shit in the game, even having a post-credits scene where it's shown she's looking for Lilith and she's not on Kairos. Not even a word is said about her nothing. Like, I know I'm a Tannis dick-rider, but you would think the character that is shown to be the closest to Lilith and the one looking for her would, you know, be out looking for her. This is not meant to shade Amara either, I love her and she played an amazing role in the game, that being said, Tannis should have been there, or at least replaced that bum Zane. And that's another thing, Zane?? is the character they bring back, fine, whatever, but to have him be there with Lilith like they have any connection is bullshit, like Moxxi and Amara have this deeper connection with Lilith, so why have Zane be included when they mean absolutely nothing to each other? It makes no sense. Now back to the Zadra thing, to put it in the most simply way possible, she is Tannis if Tannis were less outwardly autistic and wasn't overtly mentally ill, like there were moments when Zadra would say some shit and i would be like damn Tannis would say or do some shit like this too, but its not her becasue they didnt want to bring her back because she was too much??? Then to kill Zadra off, like, I understand that she was probably always meant to die, but she died in the stupidiest way possible, actually. I think she must have been fed up because in no circumstances did she actually fall for that shit, like. It pissed me off so bad, but whatever. I just really think it was stupid to not have Tannis in the game, but I hope she's in the DLCs because if she's not, I'm going to kill myself because playing this game with no Tannis and seeing this bullsht almost sent me over the edge.

Okay, now that I'm done sounding like a crazy person, I will say this: everything else about the game is spectacular. All the vault hunters are incredibly strong, and the guns feel great. I love exploring Kairos; everything feels and looks amazing, and I can't wait for the updates in the future.
