The case for teaching ignorance

Arms
Arms have been on my mind recently - How do I use my arms?  How do you use your arms?  In a recent  conversation with one of my clients this topic came up.  Letting go of your arms is a foreign concept for a lot of my clients - or they think they are letting go of their arms but really they are not.  Why is this?  We use our arms in everyday life for a majority of purposes. (driving, technology, cooking, cleaning - you name it).  People associate arms with strong and powerful, why is this?  One of the definitions for strong in the dictionary is “mental power, force, or vigor.”  If you think about it your arms are the messengers to your heart - why would we want our arms to have mental power or force behind them?  I believe your arms can have power behind them - power does not have to mean strong, hard, stiff or protect.  Instead - think of the strength coming from your legs and feet while your arms follow with ease and grace.  Next time you have to use your arms while brushing your teeth, scrubbing a dish, driving your car - allow your arms to be soft and fluid - take notice if you can get the same job done with a softer quality as opposed to an armored, hard, “strong” quality.  Compare - contrast and allow a sense of wonderment with movement explorations. Think of the magic of that foot, comparatively small, upon which your whole weight rests.  It is a  miracle

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is a miracle.

Art Is Frightening Art isn't pretty. Art isn't painting. Art isn't something you hang on the wall. Art is what we do when we're truly alive. If you've already decided that you're not an artist, it's worth considering why you made that decision and what it might take to unmake it. Â If you've announced that you have no talent (in anything!), then you're hiding. Â Art might scare you. Art might bust you. But art is who we are and what we do and what we need. An artist is someone who uses bravery, insight, creativity, and boldness to challenge the status quo. Â And an artist takes it (all of it, the work, the process, the feedback from those we seek to connect with) personally. Â Art isn't a result; it's a journey. The challenge of our time is to find a journey worthy of your heart and soul. "
