Me and @jinkies-brooms-scoob were talking about potential high school Steddie and the dynamic is just. Elite. Because they donât know each other well and donât have the kid connection yet so Eddie doesnât have much to go on. And would obviously assume these are gonna be secret locker room hookups. Only for Steve to try and wave at him in the halls and sit with him at lunch
He literally tried to make Nancy one of the cool/popular squad- who's to say his audacity wouldn't reach the heights of not caring about dating the Freak??
Steve wraps an arm around him in the hallway and Eddieâs like âwhat the fuck does he want me to suck his dick in a hall closet??â but no he just wants to be sappy.
Gareth and Jeff like â???? Eddie why is HE here are you being held hostage???â and Eddie has to explain later that he gave King Steve one (1) blowjob and now he has attached himself to Eddie like an imprinted duckling
then of course he finds out theyâre cool with the gay thing so he shows up to hellfire just to hang out and be openly mushy with Eddie
@bruce-wayne-simp he refuses to believe heâs actually falling for Steve until either a) Steve drops the âI love youâ and he realizes his first instinct is to say it back or b) Tommy or someone catches on to them fucking and goes to Eddie like. Come on i know you donât actually like him why would you and Eddie is punching him before he knows whatâs going on

@xxfiction-is-my-realityxx asked for Steve and Eddie hugging from behind, and an anon asked for kissing. So much like the 80â˛s I mixx-taped them both together for a cute kiss from behind ;P
I have two tabs open. one is tumblr. I am 160 posts back on my dashboard - I have made it back to the place I left off the night before.
satisfied, I open the second tab to pull up a post-avengers fanfic. everyone lives together in stark tower - each of them has their own floor. for no explained reason, loki shares thorâs. no one questions that he has not been arrested. the team has friday evening movie nights. at breakfast, thor eats all of tonyâs pop tarts.
to all the people saying this was an embarrassing time: I am 34 full years old and reading/writing these fics brought me so much joy and rereading them still does. embarrassment is a construct, cringe culture is dead, and the found family trope saves lives.
listen. i read this exact fic in different permutations approximately 97,000 times, many of which still live in my ao3 bookmarks. it made me happy every single time.

Summary:
Undertaker wasn't a life that Eddie had ever pictured for himself, but it was where he ended up. Still single, perpetually lonely, never having quite gotten over the fact that when he tried to escape Hawkins to make a life for himself away from the curse of the Upside Down, Steve hadn't followed when he asked.
Itâs been ten years since Eddie last saw Steve.
He hadnât expected the next time he saw him again to be back in Hawkins, let alone in a body bag.

Know a fic that deserves extra love? Submit through our asks!
several years ago, my writing workshop used this tactic to get ourselves to submit to more lit mags, and raced to 100 rejections.
We made a shared google sheet - everyone got a tab to track theirs submissions and the success or failure - and a scorecard that translated everyone's data into a bar chart.
Let me tell you, very little is more motivating than making your line get taller than everyone else's. it made getting rejected feel like a genuine achievement - and I got some of my best-ever rejection letters! Including a personal one from F&SF!
tl;dr: fail more. fail more than your buddies. set a goal to fail more than your buddies and race them to the finish line.
A regional manager of Scoops Ahoy took one look at newly hired Steve (fresh highlights in his hair, lipgloss on) and said: do you want to participate in Scoops Ahoy yearly charity calendar? (said calendar did not exist until a second ago)(it will be wildly successful and reprinted for many years)
Sometime later one Eddie Munson finds the calendar at some underground queer bookshop in Indianapolis and almost dies from lust-induced nose bleed

Steve has been bottling his emotions up for so long, and right before the final battle something inside him finally snaps. Heâs so angry at Eddie for everything that he put them through. For almost dying. For the reckless, selfish choice that nearly got him killed that night. He canât take it anymore. Itâs all just too muchâŚ
Haven't written fic in a hot minute, but stranger things lives rent-free in my brain, and I really enjoyed the quiet, settled feeling of the epilogue. I figure I can ease myself back into fiction writing by posting short scenes and prompt responses here instead of diving straight into a fully formed fic.
why au? because eventual steddie, that's why.
1200 words, unedited, steve-centric, and post-s5, featuring derek introspection, and a new house
The morning after move-in day, Steve Harrington almost spilled his morning coffee on that Derek kidâs head.Â
It went like this: he woke up in his new bedroom in his new houseâthe Forest Hills placeâtangled in an old sleeping bag, staring up at the dusty ceiling from a bare mattress in the middle of the floor. It was early. He didnât have curtains yet, except for what had been let behind, and none in the bedroom, so the early-morning sun flooded the room, burning his closed eyelids red and dappling shadows on the walls.Â
Steve wasnât really the dingy-mattress-on-the-floor, bachelor pad kind of guy, for the record, but heâd done most of the move by himself, except for a few hours when Lucas and Max had shown up to help. And Max was working on it, sure, but she still didnât have the kind of muscle tone you need to be much help hauling heavy furniture around. So it had taken nearly all of Steveâs energy to load and unload his shit and get everything more or less to the correct room. Thus, the mattress was on the floor, the bedframe in pieces in the corner, and Steve would be living out of boxes for the foreseeable future.Â
It was fine. Thatâs what adulthood was, right? Doing things by yourself, without inconveniencing anyone else by asking for help.Â
And who could he have asked, anyway? Nance and Rob, who would have to drive twelve hours from Massachussets? Ditto, Jonathan in NYC? Besides, at the kidsâ graduation, the three of them had said they wouldnât even come back for a visit, let alone hard labor. Once upon a time, Hop might have shown up, but he and Joyce had been in Montauk for the better part of a year.
Maybe Ron, the assistant coach, would have shown up if heâd asked, but they werenât that close yet.
Whatever, it didnât matter. The point is, heâd been wiped out, slept hard, and woke early, blinded by the morning sun. He climbed awkwardly to his feetâthis sleeping on the floor thing was for the birds, he had to put his bed together, statâand thanked yesterdayâs Steve for having the presence of mind to unpack the coffee maker.
His new kitchen was pretty nice. It had a small island with a well-maintained butcherâs block countertop, and a bright window over the sink where he could watch the grass slope gently downward toward the woods. When the weather turned cooler, the morning dew would crystallize into ghosts and catch fire in the sunrise.Â
Maybe he should build a patio out back, thrift some outdoor furniture, give himself someplace to sit outside and watch the sun come up before school every morning. It seemed like the kind of thing that would make being alone more enjoyable.Â
Until then, heâd have to content himself with the front stoop. So when the coffee maker beeped, he poured himself a mug (black, as usual), grabbed yesterdayâs sports section off the counter where heâd left it, and headed out front.
Which brings us back to Derek, whose jacketâa suspiciously familiar gray Membersâ Only oneâblended in surprisingly well with the cement steps. Steve stopped just short of tripping headlong over him, and managed to swing his coffee to the side just quickly enough to avoid scalding the kidâs scalp. Instead, the coffee sloshed painfully over his own fingers. Steve gritted his teeth, but managed to avoid swearing or dropping his mug. So, all-in-all, a success.Â
âDerek?â he said, once heâd regained his bearings. âWhat are you doing here at like⌠butt oâclock?â
âHi, Coach Steve,â said Derek, chipper and nonchalant all at once. âIâm a morning person.âÂ
âOkayâŚ?â He stared down at him for a second before giving in and settling down on the step next to him, carefully avoiding the wet coffee puddle. âHow do you even know where I live, man? Iâve been here all of five minutes.âÂ
âDuh,â said Derek. âTurnbow Realty? My cousin Tracy was your Buyerâs Agent.â
Right. And nobody in this town had document security sufficient to keep personally identifiable information out of the hands of your average middle schooler. Thanks for the reminder, kid.Â
âAnd youâre here at dawn why, exactly?â he said instead.Â
Derek gave him a look that said this is not dawn, buddy, and dug into his pocket for a granola bar. Two granola bars, actually. He handed one to Steve. âI figure you havenât gone grocery shopping yet. You probably donât have any real food.âÂ
Steve blinked. âNo, I uh. I guess I donât.â He took the second granola bar and carefully unwrapped it. It was the hard, dry kind that crumbled into dust at the slightest disturbance. âThanks.âÂ
Derek elbowed him like they were old pals. âNo problem, Coach. Anyway. Iâm here because I need an adult male mentor figure in my life, and Mike said you did a pretty good job.âÂ
Steve inhaled a bit of granola bar dust and choked on it. âIâm sorry, what? MikeâŚ?â
âWheeler,â Derek clarified pointlessly. âHe said you did a pretty good job with the party, so if I wanted to be as cool as he is someday, I should really be following you around instead. And, well, you are Coach, so it makes sense.â Did it, though? âSo I found a copy of your contract in my dadâs home office, and here I am.âÂ
Steve stared at him for a moment, feeling like maybe his brain hadnât fully woken up yet. âRight,â he said slowly, and then took a long sip from his mug to buy himself time. Was this going to be the rest of his life? Random kids just invading his life and his home, like they belonged there?
After a few moments of confused, if companionable silence (Steve had to give the kid credit, he was much better at shutting the hell up than Dustin ever was) the Responsible Adult side of his brain lurched begrudgingly online. âWait, do your parents know youâre here?âÂ
Derek gave him a pitying look, one that said, are all adults idiots, or just you, only achievable by the pre-pubescent. âItâs fine,â he said in his baby voice, with his cherub cheeks, âIâm practically an adult, these days.âÂ
Steve did not snort in incredulity, but it was a near thing. Instead, he buried it in his coffee mug, pounding the rest in three big gulps (ow, still too hot) and got to his feet. âWell?â he said, raising both eyebrows at Derek. âCome on.â He swung the door open indicatively.
After he finished gaping, Derek scrambled to his feet. âYes, Coach! Are we unpacking your stuff? Where should we start? I think probably the bedroom first, followed by the kitchen, because my dad always saysââÂ
âHup-up-up!â Steve cut him off before he could get rolling. âFirst, stay out of my bedroom. Second, weâre not doing anything until you call your mom and tell her where you are.âÂ
Derek blinked at him for a second before petulant despair washed over his face. âAw man. Mike said you were cool.âÂ
Steve rolled his eyes. âMikeâs a dirty liar, and youâre a kid. Letâs go.âÂ
Derek sighed heavily, shoulders rounding. âFine. But theyâre not going to care, youâll see.â
