Hey there! Apologies if this has been asked before, but I was wondering what kind of textures you use? I'm especially curious about the Youtube Pokemon thumbnail you made, with those old-school newspaper printing colors. I also use CSP and am hoping to find some ways of achieving those textures that don't require buying a texture pack. Love your art!
hi, thank you so much for appreciating my art :)
i do use paid textures pretty often but the good news is that i didn't for the pokemon thumbnail! it uses a paper texture from this free pack, zoomed way in to show off the pulp (no quality lost because it's a really big texture lol).
i also set up a couple effect layers to make the ink and paper feel even more real! usually i keep my tutorials/guides text-based but in this case an image works best:
some paid texture packs come with effect layers like this, it takes a bit of elbow grease to set them up yourself but it adds a lot imo!
i also wrote a bunch on my texture process in this ask (about another piece of pokemon fanart).
(edited to add: i like to hit my color and line layers with some distress/grunge brushes as well, not super heavily but enough to make it look like the ink's decayed over a few decades!)

'rocky learns to swear in english' is great and all but have we considered the equally hilarious alternative: rocky makes grace a little harmonica so he can use tone indicators in eridian, does not realize how terrible of a mistake this is until it's too late. grace catches onto tone indicators FAST and he is DEVASTATING with their application. grace does not use eridian swears but rocky gets to hear "are we choosing kind words" and "I'm not mad I'm just disappointed" in eridian roughly thirty times per day

I love the idea of Rocky extending Grace’s lifespan to Eridian levels without telling him
The thing about the destiel news meme is that I actually think it's great.
It does let you know that something has gone on in the world. But it's such a short format that it could never even pretend to give you all the relevant information about that thing. It usually provides less detail than the average headline, so it's not actually reporting, it's more like shouting a head's up across a crowded room. Still lets you know that something has happened though.
The very fact that it's a goofy and irreverent fandom meme also serves as a perpetual reminder that using social media to get news is a bad idea. Now that you know something has occurred, go read an actual article from a real source to verify it and get the details. It's an alert system with a format that never lets you forget that alerts are not articles, and that this website is not beholden to any kind of journalistic integrity.
I love it, the comments on destiel news memes are almost always full of people saying that they saw it and then rushed off to go verify the news with a reputable source. Do you know how often more "serious" format news stuff on this site just leaves people complacently certain that they've been given accurate info? Way too often. I wish half as many of those news updates had people commenting that they left tumblr to go double check it.
