Clark gets hit by magic and when he wakes up he is atrocious to Bruce. He's saying the most vile, disgusting things in the world to Bruce's face. It's heartbreaking to witness. They finally get zatanna to come look at him and they find out that he's been hit by something that is making him hate the people he loves the most. That's why he's rude to the majority of the league and neutral with people he doesn't know. But with Bruce it's a whole different thing, he's just going on and about the worst things regarding Bruce and Bruce cannot take it.
That's his husband of 10 years, the person who loves him the most. And Bruce knows inside of him that he reason Clark is being so hateful towards him is because his heart carries that much love for him. He's spewing hurtful hate because his heart carries all the love in the universe for Bruce. But it's not easy to listen your husband telling you how useless, unloveable despicable creature you are and how you should die. The magic is set to last a week and Bruce picks up the blade on day 3. He just can't cope with it, he knows none of the things that are coming out of Clark's mouth is true but his self hate refuses to believe it. It has been years since he last cut himself, he hadn't done it since he and Clark got together, Clark kept him together with so much love that hatred had no place in his love.
But now Clark himself said it to Bruce's face that it would be better if he died, and Bruce believes him. The next time Bruce wakes up is at the hospital, Clark is beside him and he is crushed. He has been crying nonstop, apologising repeatedly without taking a breath for his behaviour. His cries were loud enough to shake the hospital. Bruce finds out that it was clark who found him almost dead and took him here.
I know i described it all in Bruce's POV but I really want to see Clark discovering Bruce's almost dead body from Clark's POV please. The reason Clark flew to the manor is despite him being under the curse his body was subconsciously listening to Bruce's vitals in the background and he noticed when it began to plummet down fast. Clark under the curse didn't want to do anything with it or even think about it but the love for Bruce that was bound under the spell was too strong. So he went to the manor fighting with himself the whole flight there. When he was finally face to face with Bruce's bloody body everything stopped. Bruce had cuts over his thighs, his arms and the biggest cut on his wrist. His eyes were snuffed out of life and looking straight at Clark. It was more than enough to break any fucking spell Clark was under. The scream that came out of Clark's mouth was enough to break every window in the manor before he took Bruce to get help.
Make it as hurtful, and heartbreaking as you can and Clark almost going insane because of the hatred he feels for himself for causing unbearable pain for Bruce, he hates himself for it and he never stops apologising he rarely ever leaves Bruce's side, constantly whispering words of reassurance and how lucky he is that Bruce is his lover, his world, his everything and that Clark would die without him and a soft happy ending

Here's a list of this chapter's trigger warnings: Suicide Attempt Suicide Note Graphic Depictions of Self-Harm Blood Mentions of a Blade used for Self-Harm
The Manor was quiet when Clark stepped through the threshold; the unlocked front door to the too-big house still swung open behind him. He reached back blindly, fingers catching against the edge of the wooden door. If he were human, his nails would have stung, as he'd seen Bruce's boys do on numerous occasions. He'd hear the clack of keratin against wood, sometimes metal, sometimes rock, before the yelps of pain would follow shortly after.
His nails didn't hurt as his fingers closed around the edge of the door, thumb pressing hard into the groove where the patterning was carved. He could hear the creaks and groans of the wood beneath his strength, and he finally released the door as he stepped back, closing it behind him, the hinges squeaking, the lock clicking shut softly.
Clark lifted his head, gaze trained on the far wall as he finally took a step into the entryway. It was quiet, something he'd already established, but something felt wrong. There was something heavy about the silence. The large rooms, usually full of laughter and jokes from the kids, were empty. Too empty.
Clark could hear no faint jokes from the kitchen, no music playing from the upstairs bedrooms as he stepped further into the entryway, looking down one of the many hallways that seemed to stretch the longer he stared down it. There were no sounds from the Cave, no tinkering from Bruce building, no clanging of one of the boys training, no humming of Cass reading, no laughing of Steph talking on the phone.
If Clark didn't know better, he would say the place was empty. The curtains were all pulled shut, no sunlight sneaking between any gaps in the drapes, no external or internal light in any of the rooms. There were many things wrong with the picture before him, but between the stillness and the dark rooms, he couldn't place it.
He swallowed; he needed to find Bruce, or Dick, maybe Tim. Jason wouldn't be willing to tell him anything, as the younger man often was. Stubbornness had lit a fire beneath Jason, and the young man seemed to be holding onto whatever grudge he had with Bruce too tightly. It was as unhealthy as it was immature.
Clark shook the thoughts from his mind, stepping even further into the Manor. The floorboards creaked under his boots, the thick soles squeaking lightly on the wood. He took a steadying breath, feeling his heart hammering in his chest for reasons he couldn't wrap his head around.
He lived in the Manor, shared a room with Bruce, and often shared the living rooms with his husband and the kids. And yet Clark felt suddenly out of place, like a piece of furniture that didn't quite fit the room.
The sigh that left him was deep, exhaling through his nose before inhaling a few moments later.
The smell hit him first, strong, thick and steady. Metallic.
His body was moving before he knew it, his footfalls heavy on the floorboards, thudding behind him, echoing through the empty hallway. He lifted from the floor when he reached the bottom of the staircase, arms lifting before him as he shot up the three flights in the Manor, racing against time itself as he made his way up higher and higher.
The locked bedroom door he shared with Bruce did little to stop him, his fists going through the wood without a care in the world for the old ornate thing. Bruce would likely yell at him for breaking such a sentimental thing, but it was still just a door, and it was coming between him and Bruce. Nothing else mattered but Bruce at that moment.
His toes touched down on the floorboards first, before his knees crashed against the floor, the blood at his feet quick to soak into the fabric of his suit.
The cry torn from his chest was less a scream than it was a wail, his hands coming out before him, lifting from his sides. He didn't notice they were shaking until his palms rested on either side of Bruce's face, cupping his too-cool cheeks between his too-big hands.
Clark's eyes couldn't focus, between the still warm blood he was kneeling in, and the blade that had fallen to the side at some point-
Another cry was pulled from him, feeling as much as he heard a twang pierce through him. The spell, the thing Zatanna had tried to tell Bruce, the thing that he wasn't supposed to be listening in on- the conversation was supposed to be private between the two members of the League, but he- he couldn't not listen; he- he-
The windows shook in their panes as he wailed again, hearing them rattle in the metal casings. Spittle was on his lips as everything he'd said over the previous days seemed to snap into place within his head. Dread washed through him, his stomach roiling with it.
He slumped to the ground, his legs twisted uncomfortably beneath him, his knees bent at an awkward angle. It hurt, but Clark didn't pay it any mind, not as he trembled harder at the empty look in Bruce's eyes, and the direness of the situation finally fell into place.
The shaking of the windows didn't last long, and one by one, Clark heard the bursts, raining shards of glass down into each of the rooms. He crowded himself against Bruce, holding his husband against the wall as he sheltered the smaller man against his chest, covering him. He felt tiny shards of glass bounce against his caped back.
It was another one of the many things he'd spent his last few days ignoring, even as his own words had bounced around in his skull. Had his head been empty? Had his brain left him? What had forced him to say such things, to keep on saying these things, even as he'd seen the looks on Bruce's face?
He'd revelled in it, enjoyed it for Rao's sake. Nothing had seemed wrong as he'd spewed such horrid things, the words he'd heard leave his own mouth. And he hadn't done a thing to stop it.
Zatanna had found him after the magician had informed Bruce, telling him what he'd already heard. He suspects she knew he'd already heard; he's almost sure she was aware. The look on her face, the pinch between her brows, the pout of her lower lip. She'd known, and yet she'd still taken the time to sit him down and had explained it to him, gently, choosing her words carefully.
Clark wasn't so naive as to know she'd treated him with less gentleness than she had with Bruce, and honestly, he was grateful for that. Out of both himself and Bruce, Bruce was the one who had needed the softer tones, the gentler words, chosen carefully - with more care than her words to him. He would forever be in her debt.
And yet, Clark couldn't help the budding anger that she hadn't taken Bruce away from him, hidden him somewhere where he couldn't find him, somewhere so his words would never hit his husband.
Clark knew what she would say if she were to find them like this. 'It wasn't your fault, Kal. You can't blame yourself for this. This was the work of the spell.' Well damn him if that wasn't good enough.
He was the strongest on Earth, and yet he was weak to the spell's control. How is that- how is this not his doing?
He had heard the words, the wicked, horrid things. The threats hidden beneath flowered words, the anger, the hatred. None of it had gone unnoticed to Bruce, to anyone.
The League had taken to avoiding him, not wanting to hear whatever terrible things he had to say about them, either to their face or behind their backs. He'd had to take days off work, opting to take as many hours out of the office as he could manage without risk of losing his job. Lois had looked at him, hurt in her eyes, even after he'd had Zatanna explain to her. Jimmy had taken to giving him a wide berth, and even Zatanna couldn't find a way to explain to the young reporter without his biggest secret coming to light.
It wasn't fair.
And it had taken his Bruce from him.
There would be no undoing this damage, not after telling his husband how his kids hated him. Not after telling Bruce that his parents must have wished their only son had been the one to die in that alleyway that night. Not after he'd said he regretted ever loving the man, even going so far as to say that he too wished it had been Bruce who had died.
It couldn't be seen as a surprise; it shouldn't have been, to find Bruce like this.
And yet, his shoulders were still trembling with shock.
And yet he had tears welling in his eyes as he stared into Bruce's.
And yet his knees had gone numb beneath his weight.
And yet…
And yet…
…And yet…
The first sob that bubbled out of his chest was quiet, choked, as his neck creased, folding as his head dropped, his chin against his chest.
The second sob was less quiet, growing louder as his breath hitched, and the next even less so.
A sound was pulled from him then, weak, groaning, no more than a hiccup. He had never been good at human sounds; Clark had always felt he stood out from the rest on the planet. His were deeper, groaning, animalistic and raw.
Only once had he ever heard a sound from a human that had been similar to his, and that had been when he had had to console Bruce after the death of Jason. Clark had felt wanted then, needed, as if the only thing stopping Bruce from falling apart into a completely new man, was him.
But even then, he hadn't known what to do with himself. What could he say to make it better? What could undo the pain of losing a child?
There was a cruel irony along those lines, somewhere along the route of not knowing what to do with himself now, much like then. What could he say? What could undo the pain of losing a partner?
A hitch, not his own, and Clark's head snapped up.
His gaze landed, focusing solely on Bruce, dropping to his lips, his mouth opening. He held his breath, stemming the frantic beating of his heart in his chest as he watched, waiting, eager yet terrified.
He'd heard of the early muscle reflexes of death, how the human body would sometimes move on its own and rarely produce noise. It was a muscle reflex, apparently, just as it was the excess buildup of gas in the body forcing its way out that produced the sounds.
But Bruce's pupils dilated, his eyes moved- not a lot, but just enough. Clark saw it, his own mouth opening.
"I'm…sorry…"
🦇
Bruce's weight was a steady presence in his arms as Clark flew them across the Gotham skies, going as fast as he would risk with his husband's fragile body tucked against his chest. Clark couldn't explain why Bruce's heart had started beating again, or why he had missed it. He was so attuned to the sound, the beat second to his own, scored so deeply in his memory that it was almost his own.
He couldn't explain it, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to be grateful for it.
A gift had been handed to him, a miracle, nothing short of godly intervention. And something he wasn't going to give up lightly, not without a fight. He'd fight the gods, new and old, future and past, if it meant he could listen to that heavenly sound for a few more decades.
Clark needed Bruce; it was as simple as that, more than he needed the oxygen that filled his lungs, more than the blood that pumped through his veins, and more than the sun that was warm on his face. He could live without oxygen; he could live with his veins bled dry; he could live without the sun. He couldn’t live without Bruce.
He lowered his head, nuzzling his nose against Bruce's cheek, trying not to pay too much attention to how cold his skin was. Even with the wind whipping against their faces, even as it cut through their bodies and left Clark's fingers stinging, this cold shouldn't have left Bruce this deadly cold. No, he knew full well what had caused this, and his stomach was knotting with dread the longer they remained in the air.
He looked up, seeing the hospital approaching steadily. Now that they were getting closer to the bustling city of Gotham, the sounds and smells of the city were hitting Clark, assaulting his nose with the stench of death, banging on his ears with the sounds of terror.
How he hated this city.
The sun refused to shine, even from where it hung high in the sky. The clouds, as grey and heavy as they were, weren't spurting rain upon them, one of the few things that Clark could be grateful for.
He shivered, however, as the warmth of Bruce's blood was quickly drying against his stomach.
He had wrapped his husband's arms with towels, doing the best he could with what little supplies he had. It wasn't clean, and nor was it on par with any doctor or nurse, but it would have to do until they could get some real help.
He'd seen how deeply Bruce had cut, the sinews and tendons of Bruce's wrists visible even in what little light they had had in their bedroom. If Clark had looked closer, he was sure he would have seen the bones that made up his husband's wrists.
The cuts had been hasty, but they had been well done, if there even was such a thing given the circumstances.
He knew Bruce's past, knew that this wasn't the first time the man had cut, but he had hoped that it wouldn't happen again. Hope that wasn't misplaced, either. Bruce had been doing better, years of therapy, antipsychotics, antidepressants, and a few other medications that Clark wasn't sure the names of. He'd seen their medicine cabinet and the prescriptions that were piled in the back corner of Bruce's desk drawer in his study.
He'd done what he could where he could, giving Bruce space when his husband had asked for it, and holding him when Bruce didn't know what he wanted.
But whatever progress Bruce had made over the last decade had been washed down the drain in the span of less than a week.
And Clark had no one else to blame but himself. He could try to point fingers, try to put the blame somewhere, elsewhere, anywhere else, but they all knew. He knew Bruce wouldn't blame him; he knew Zatanna wouldn't either, likely would Lois, possibly Selina, hopefully even Jimmy wouldn't. But the League? Alfred? Oh Rao, the kids?
He had yet to tell them, anyone. No one knew, and he suspected that had been Bruce's plan from the beginning. Clark wasn't going to pretend that he hadn't accidentally spotted Bruce's suicide note written out to every individual person who was important in his life. And he wasn't going to play dumb and say he hadn't spotted how long the one addressed to him was.
Clark wasn't proud of his choice when he had rifled through that top drawer of Bruce's desk and flipped through the pages of the note addressed to him. It had been encroaching on eleven pages, longer than the ones written to the kids, longer than the one even addressed to Alfred.
Clark hadn't known what to do with the information, feeling it sit in his mind for days, weeks, even. He had no one to tell; how could he? That was his choice he'd made that stormy night, when Bruce had been asleep upstairs, when it had been almost four in the morning, when all the kids had been out on either patrol or asleep in their own rooms or apartments, when even Alfred had been asleep in his own quarters.
He should have been asleep too, in their bed, curled up beside Bruce, with his husband in his arms, and the blankets tucked up to his chin. But he hadn't been able to get it off his mind from the moment he'd seen it.
It, unsurprisingly, had been a difficult read, and while it had mostly been Bruce apologising for things he had no reason to apologise for, there had been one part that had stuck with him longer than the rest.
Clark, my husband, the one I love more than the sun and the Earth, more than there are stars in the sky, and more than there are blades of grass on the planet. Please, my love, do not think this is your fault. I know you, you silly man; I know what you will do, and I know the lengths you will go to to get me back. But please, give this. I do not ask for a lot, which, I know as well as you do, is far from the truth.
I'm leaving you alone in this world, with this Earth that I know you love so much. I know how much my kind means to you; I know how much the people of this Earth mean to you. I know how much you love us, how much you love me, but please, Clark Kent-Wayne, my love, the warmth beneath my feet and the ice of my eyes, do not follow me.
You are my everything, my moon and stars, my sun in the sky. You warm my face like I know how the sun warms yours. And I know I'm likely rambling, and I likely have been since page four, but I do not say any of this lightly. You mean more to me than words can say, more than any language I have ever learnt can say. I love you, Clark Kent-Wayne, Kal and all. My Superman.
Clark looked down again, gaze trained on Bruce's closed eyes. He almost looked peaceful where he lay against his chest, as though the weight of any of these last few days hadn't aged him at all. But he knew better.
Being this close to Bruce, he could see the new white hairs that were spotting through his hairline, the speckles of grey amongst the black. It suited him, Clark decided. He pressed his lips to Bruce's forehead, feeling how much colder his husband had grown in the few more minutes they'd spent in the air. "Please", he whispered into Bruce's skin, gaze lifting momentarily as they finally approached the hospital. "Please, B. My rings to Saturn, please. I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry."
Clark gets hit by magic and when he wakes up he is atrocious to Bruce. He's saying the most vile, disgusting things in the world to Bruce's face. It's heartbreaking to witness. They finally get zatanna to come look at him and they find out that he's been hit by something that is making him hate the people he loves the most. it’s 2014 can taylor swift stop
It's 2026 now, and man do I have bad news for you
Random questions that won't help you get to know your mutuals at all
Thank you for the tag @urk-m, greatly appreciated, my love!
Favourite Shampoo (scent/brand)?
Honestly, the brand Davroe has been growing on me lately; it's been really nice for my hair, helps keep the curls fresh and longer, and it smells amazing too boot! (even tho I don't know what the scent is)
Do you sleep with the light on or your door closed? Why?
This is actually kind of embarrassing, but I have to sleep with a nightlight because I get horrible night terrors more often than not, and because of those, if I wake up in a dark room, I often don't know where I am and freak out. But every door is closed and locked; ain't no one getting into my room.
Hot or cold coffee/tea?
Iced tea and hot coffee, preferably a latte with almond milk!
Do you use the same username for all/most of your socials?
Funnily enough, yes, I do, or at least something that's very close to my username on here. Some have the dashes, some don't. It depends on the rules for names when I'm signing up.
White shoes, yay or nay? Why?
Uh, no. It's me and my black boots against the world (they're so comfortable, and I love the platform soles, makes my curvy back and me look a little bit taller <3.
What song is stuck in your head right now? (If none, what's the last one you remember listening to?)
I've grown really partial to Odd Future by UVERworld. Is it new? No, but I heard it on a show (MHA, I think), and I needed to know what it is, and now it's been playing on repeat in my room.
Would you rather watch three twenty-minute episodes or a one-hour movie?
Ooh, actually this one's hard. I'm actually not too sure; I think it really depends on the show/genre, which is painfully vague, I know. But it also depends on what I'm doing. If I'm writing, then I'll play a show from the thing I'm writing, so for example if I'm writing DC, I'll put on a DC show (preferably Batman, but who am I to say). But if I'm playing a game, then I'll also play a show in the background. I guess show? If I want to watch a movie, I'm sitting down to watch a movie. Shows, I feel, I can throw on whenever.
Would you still love the person that tagged you if they were a worm?
Yes, no question needed. I'd make you a home with everything you could ever want or need. I'd give you vegetable scraps, organic, only the best for you, and watch you as you worked. I'd get a nice little container too, so I can carry you around in my handbag, and on stormy nights I'd read you a book and play some soft music in the background so you could feel the vibrations through the dirt.

Well I'm back on my ranting again. But how, what could POSSIBLY be the context of this specific panel???
The hand placement? The belt? The gentleness that seems to be seeping from Clark as Bruce sits carefully on top as if afraid to touch him?
We may not be able to see their faces, but I just know they're looking at each other, and they're sharing that moment for as long as it can last.
(EDIT: I now know this is fanart done by a Japanese artist named Jiro; thank you to the informormer in the comments!)
people make fun of Bruce for having contingencies on top of his contingencies and being paranoid and a stickler for the Procedure and etc
Guys. This man decided to be spontaneous once when he was a kid and his parents were murdered in front of him.
Forgive him if he's a little obsessed with having Plans and following them to the letter so that doesn't happen again
