Anubis is the ancient Egyptian god of mummification, embalming, and the afterlife. Often depicted as a black jackal or a man with a jackal head, he protected the dead and guided souls through the underworld. His most critical role was the "Weighing of the Heart" ceremony, where he judged a soul's worthiness against the feather of Ma'at to determine entry into the afterlife.
